This paper proposes a method to implement Electrocardiogram (ECG) arrhythmia classification on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The integration of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for the analysis of ECG signals has witnessed significant advancements, with a specific emphasis on harnessing FPGA hardware acceleration to augment overall system performance. MITBIH Arrhythmia datasets are used to train and test the model. Also hardware implementation of the model to classify five groups out of which abnormalities and normal state of heartbeat is done and achieved high accuracy. The classifier employs several preprocessing steps to prepare the input vector, including the utilization of Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) for extracting the necessary features from the ECG signal. The implementation is conducted using Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ ZCU104 FPGA board. During testing, the model achieved an accuracy of 94.08% both in simulation and hardware execution.
