The study investigates how quantum cryptography can be employed to improve security in smart grid communication networks. Attempting to use the BB84 QKD protocol, it allows secure creation and management of those cryptographic keys that cannot be broken with the help of quantum and traditional hacking techniques. It depends on symmetric encryption mechanisms like AES to provide high data confidentiality during transmission. Regarding the key management, the system provides a key management server that distributes keys to the grid nodes and performs key updating to ensure control with the managing authority. It also presents reliability under practical conditions through performance analogs such as Quantum Bit Error Rates (QBER), and system latency. This approach shows that quantum cryptography can provide a highly secure and efficient communication network for the next-generation smart grid. © 2025 IEEE.

The rapid increase in urban vehicle numbers has significantly worsened traffic congestion, particularly in public parking spaces, where conventional parking systems often prove inefficient, leading to wasted time, excessive fuel consumption, and increased environmental pollution. A Smart Car Parking System is proposed to address these challenges by integrating advanced technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT), to optimize parking operations. The system employs sensors embedded in parking spaces to detect vehicle presence and provide real-time data on availability. This enables drivers to locate free parking spaces efficiently, improving traffic flow. Additionally, the system offers valuable insights to city planners and facility managers, supporting optimal space allocation and dynamic pricing models. By reducing vehicle idling and unnecessary driving while searching for parking, the system helps minimize emissions, contributing to environmental sustainability. The study builds an automated smart car parking system for parking slot monitoring and gate control. The system ensures correct slot occupancy reading, status displayed in real time, and smooth operation of an opening and closing system. It manages additional features such as real-time sensor calibration and effective gate control with a high degree of accuracy and accountability. The proposed Smart Car Parking System represents a key innovation in urban mobility, offering a user-friendly, efficient, and ecofriendly solution to one of the most persistent challenges faced by modern cities. © 2025 IEEE.

In view of the problems of insufficient precision and response lag faced by traditional methods in foundation settlement control, this paper introduces an intelligent control method for foundation settlement based on deep reinforcement learning (DRL) and data fusion. Firstly, the DQN (Deep Q-Network) algorithm in deep reinforcement learning is used to construct an intelligent control model. Through interactive learning between the agent and the environment, the control strategy is automatically optimized to achieve accurate control and prediction of the foundation settlement process. Then, combined with multi-sensor data, including foundation displacement, temperature and humidity, groundwater level and other information, the Kalman filter technology is used to fuse the sensor data, so as to effectively remove noise and error and further improve the accuracy of settlement prediction. Finally, the experimental results show that the proposed method significantly improves the accuracy of settlement prediction under different foundation conditions. For example, under loose soil conditions, the mean squared error (MSE) is 0.92 and the mean absolute error (MAE) is 0.56. In addition, in the real-time and control responsiveness evaluation experiments, the system also shows strong responsiveness, correcting the settlement and restoring stability in a short time. The robustness experiment results show that the system can maintain high control accuracy and fast response capabilities under disturbance conditions such as load fluctuations, environmental interference and sensor noise. In the above data conclusions, the intelligent control method of foundation settlement based on DQN algorithm and data fusion is effective and practical in improving prediction accuracy, response speed and system robustness. © The Authors.

Aiming at the thermal error problem of CNC machine tools, the causes and changing rules of the thermal error of the feed axis and spindle were studied in depth. We proposed an efficient testing and modeling method for thermal error of feed axis and spindle. A thermal error compensation system was developed, which can realize the testing, modeling and real-time compensation of thermal error of feed axis and spindle. The real-time compensation results of CNC machine tools show that the thermal error was reduced by 80-90%. © 2025 IEEE.

Today, technology plays a pivotal role in our daily lives, significantly impacting individuals. Individuals with muscular dystrophy, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), benefit from eye-tracking technology, allowing them to interact with computers. This technology empowers them to control computer functions using only their eye movements, eliminating the need for traditional mouse and keyboard inputs. Despite these advancements, ALS patients still face challenges with certain tasks. Our study focuses on a specific individual with ALS who utilizes eye-tracking technology to navigate Adobe Premiere’s video editing software. Our objective is to address these challenges by providing a solution that leverages the shortcut commands already available in Adobe Premiere Pro while also creating a simplified interface tailored for the individual we are designing for. This approach facilitates easier access to these shortcuts during his work. Our research emphasizes the potential to adapt and personalize assistive eye-tracking technology, creating more opportunities for individuals with disabilities. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Artificial intelligence promises to revolutionize our life, bringing significant advances in any fields: health, education, work and leisure time. This paper analyzes the last 5-year literature concerning the use of AI for supporting people with disabilities in education. The aim is to investigate the current state of art of accessible applications in the STEM (Science, Technology, engineering, Mathematics) field and understand if contents and tools are accessible for all, regardless of personal need and abilities. Personalization and adaptation emerge as fundamental factors when designing for people with disabilities. Privacy and ethics aspects often neglected are very relevant. The analysis suggests that the STEM field still suffers from accessibility gaps, and current tools need to evolve and be increased to be exploited by different disabilities and ensure the same opportunities for every student, engaging, motivating, and empowering them.. Distributed deep learning has become an essential technique for accelerating deep learning, but its performance is often influenced by the heterogeneous computing nodes and heterogeneous communication networks within the distributed deep learning platform. Due to the high costs of practical deployment and running of distributed deep learning, it is almost impossible for researchers to optimize the training strategy of distributed deep learning tasks in real-world environments. In this paper, we propose HeterSim, a simulator specifically designed for heterogeneous distributed deep learning platforms. HeterSim enables flexible configuration of computing node performance and network connections, and supports to define and simulate distributed deep learning workloads using graph-based representations. HeterSim also allows for the modification of communication strategies in the distributed deep learning process, thereby assisting researchers in validating their designs for distributed deep learning. We verify the feasibility and flexibility of HeterSim, by generating a simulation platform at the scale of millions of nodes, and successfully simulate the distributed deep learning process of Resnet50. We aim to provide HeterSim as a flexible and user-friendly simulator for researchers, targeting heterogeneous distributed deep learning platforms, and helping researchers evaluate and optimize the strategy of distributed deep learning tasks at a lower cost. © 2025 SPIE.
