The branch of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) face many challenges such as extracting text from images. These challenges are most prominent due to varied nature of images in terms of size, letter style, orientation, background, quality, and format. This challenging problem requires modern solutions directed towards the proper and precise text extraction from different types of images. The proper handling of these problems is critical for the necessary increase of OCR systems' level efficiency. This paper tracks down the changes in the base assumptions of OCR due to the arrival of the deep learning algorithms. Convolutional Recurrent Neural Networks (CRNN) along with attention mechanism is suggested in this paper in order to enhance text recognition performance. © 2024 IEEE.

One dangerous event that can have many consequences is a fire outbreak. Early detection and extinguishment of a fire can contribute significantly to the prevention of numerous accidents. Historically, our reliance has been on human resources for this task, which often exposes individuals to life-threatening risks. Thus, ensuring fire security emerges as a crucial factor in safeguarding human lives. The proposed and designed fire extinguishing robot is presented in this work. It is capable of locating fires and suppressing them by using a pump to activate sprinklers. Three flame sensors are included inside the robot to provide accurate fire detection. With the use of an Arduino system, this novel Fire Extinguishing Robot model functions independently to detect the presence of fire and put it out without the need for human assistance. When the robot detects a fire, it uses gear motors and a motor driver to control its movement and start the water pump quickly to put out the flames. The robot has a water ejector that can accurately deliver water to the fire, and a servo motor allows the direction of the water ejector pipe to be changed as needed. An Arduino UNO microcontroller manages the entire process. © 2024 IEEE.

Considering the fact that the test case runs abnormally and the test case execution fails during the development and debugging of the 5G terminal protocol conformance test system. Here useful approach is implemented by embedding data copy and storage module in the system, which completes the encapsulation, copy and storage of massive data generated during the operation of the system, so that equipment developers can correctly locate the errors in the system according to the data, and repair the system loopholes to ensure the stability and accuracy of the system. © 2024 IEEE.

Robotic needle insertion with ultrasound image guidance can help improve the accuracy of liver cancer biopsy. Most robotic puncture systems with ultrasound guidance utilize dual-arm configurations, which are less efficient in terms of space utilization. To address this, we have developed a compact ultrasound image guided needle puncture mechanism. It consists of an ultrasound probe to provide image feedback and a serial-parallel mechanism together with a range extender to drive the puncture needle. To achieve accurate puncture in the dynamic environment of tissue deformation and needle bending, a needle tip detection algorithm in ultrasound images with YOLO V8 network is proposed, together with needle axis fitting and Kalman Filter to furtherly improve the accuracy. With image feedback, a closed-loop deviation correction controller with fuzzy control algorithm is developed and tested on the robotic puncture system, achieving 0.83mm accuracy, which can meet the clinical requirement. © 2024 IEEE.

Programming education for young people is becoming increasingly important in the information age. Scratch, as an interesting visual graphical programming tool, is suitable for young people to learn programming. Scratch2.0 has been basically replaced by Scratch 3.0 since its appearance. However, the existing Scratch evaluation methods are basically based on Scratch2.0 and are no longer applicable to the new version. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the storage files of Scratch3.0, and propose a work evaluation method for Scratch3.0 based on tree editing distance applicable to JSON documents from the perspective of similarity between works to assist in teaching graphical programming. Experiments show that this method can use the storage files of Scratch works for more accurate JSON document similarity comparison, and evaluate Scratch works in terms of work similarity. © 2023 IEEE.

The satellite constellation is vast in scale with numerous nodes. Traditional software reconfiguration for satellite constellations requires individual reconfiguration for each node, leading to redundant software versions, heavy workloads, and low utilization of satellite visible segment. This paper addresses these issues by decoupling satellite parameters from software functions through satellite hardware and software settings, achieving satellite constellation uniformity of software versions. Furthermore, based on the satellite constellation network system, a 'one-time upload, full-network reconfiguration' method is proposed, effectively tackling the challenges of software reconfiguration faced in traditional, especially giant satellite constellation. This approach allows for real-time reconfiguration of nodes outside satellite visible segment, significantly conserving valuable resources, reducing the workload for constellation reconfiguration, and enhancing efficiency. To ensure the safety and reliability of the reconfiguration process, the design of the autonomous rollback strategies ensures that satellites can continue to work normally even in a reconfiguration failure, thereby increasing the reliability of on-orbit reconfiguration. © 2024 IEEE.

Aiming at the issues of model mismatch and poor performance of model-based control methods under the influence of measurement perturbations, a novel model-free adaptive predictive control method (MFAPC) with anti-disturbance scheme is proposed in this paper. First, the compact form dynamic linearization (CFDL) method is used to equate the complex nonlinear model to an incremental dynamic linear time-varying model. Then an improved unscented Kalman filter based on the I/O data of the system is derived based on the dynamic linearized data model of the controlled system and the statistical properties of the measurement noise. On this basis, the generalized model in model-free control is applied to the predictive control of nonlinear systems, and the prediction equation is derived. Finally, the optimal control law is solved according to the optimization strategy of predictive control rolling. The analysis of the experimental results shows that the proposed method has strong anti-interference and robustness, and has a fast dynamic response. © 2023 IEEE.

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the development of remote assessment. This study has developed a "Remote Examination Platform" utilizing webcam eye-tracking technology to investigate respondents' hot zones and gaze trajectories during examinations. Moreover, convolutional neural network (CNN) are employed to identify image features related to respondents' behaviors, enabling the analysis of whether high and low achievers exhibit distinct hot zones and trajectories. Subsequently, a Student-Problem Chart (SP chart) is used to analyze the Caution Index for Problems (CP) to diagnose students' exam performance and detect item reactions. The results indicate that through CNN models identifying respondents' responses and eye-tracking trajectories, high-achieving students in items with abnormal attention indices demonstrate longer average dwell times and more frequent fixations compared to low achievers. Additionally, the CNN model achieves an accuracy rate of 96%. This study effectively predicts respondents' comprehension behaviors and serves as Taiwan's first artificial intelligence-based remote proctoring system (AIPS) for higher education institutions. It can assist educational institutions more efficiently in remote examinations, ensuring fairness and equity in assessments. © 2024 SPIE.

In dense crowd scenes, the scale of human heads varies greatly, and current visual transformer models lack learning of different scales, resulting in the model being unable to perceive the target scale changes of human heads in crowd density images, leading to a decrease in crowd counting accuracy. To address this issue, we added a Multi Path Computing Network (MPCNet) in the feature extraction stage, applying attention mechanisms at different sampling rates and levels to capture hierarchical features of the image, and fitting proximity and multi-level dependencies to effectively perceive changes in the head scale. Adding a bidirectional feature fusion module (BIFFM) to the backend network captures more complex feature dependencies by simultaneously considering two different spatial positions, effectively enhancing the interaction between feature maps of different scales and enabling the model to perform counting efficiently. Finally, this chapter conducted extensive experiments on three mainstream population counting benchmark datasets to validate the effectiveness of the method. © 2024 IEEE.

Sarcasm-also termed as verbal irony, when the speaker presents something in a mocking or humorous way such that he or she actually conveys the opposite of what they seem to say. This article has a detailed analysis of sarcasm detection in English-Hindi code-mixed texts based on the difficulties one faces while identifying sarcasm in linguistically complex data. Several machine learning and deep learning methods are adopted and compared, Long Short-Term Memory, Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers, and Support Vector Machines are some of them. In addition, the complexity in the detection of sarcasm is further compounded by the nuance of code-mixed language because the former does not have any tradition that can be adapted to traditional text classification methods. Feature extraction and the subsequent decision-making processes are also factored with broader implications for sentiment analysis. The results of the models analysed underwent a comparative analysis, which showed that the model produced out of the combination of BERT and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) surpasses other models to be used for this particular task with its detection accuracy rate, said to be the best in determining sarcasm. © 2024 IEEE.
