Product-driven manufacturing has gained a lot of traction recently among practitioners as it has the potential to take flexibility and agility of the manufacturing system to a new level compared to hierarchical control models. The advances in embedded technology have created the premises for the emergence of truly intelligent products that are capable not only of identification and information storage, but also of complex behavior and local decision making. In this context, this paper proposes a multi-agent control system that aims to solve the new challenges introduced by the shift to product-driven manufacturing, specifically addressing the special needs for information flow between shop floor entities and the MES system. The paper presents the pilot implementation, using the JADE multi-agent platform, a backtracking scheduler, an artificial neural network (ANN) for local decision making and the experimental results outlining the agent processing requirements during the product lifecycle.

This article explains the implementation of digitalization especially in the field of engineering. Digitalization, both of the product and the service developed within the framework of service-oriented business models, will be presented. Another key point of digitalization is the horizontal and vertical integration of technical and administrative work processes along the product life cycle. The vertical integrations are about the integrations of the authoring systems along the life cycle phases;requirements management, system architecture, CAD in mechanics, electronics, software development, simulation, testing, process planning and digital factory into the overall system lifecycle Backbone (SysLM). Horizontal integration focuses on administrative functions such as release, change and configuration management over the entire product life cycle and the technical integration of the information generated in the individual product lifecycle phases. The distribution and orchestration of functions between SysLM, MES (Manufacturing Execution system) and MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning) is particularly relevant here. The contribution is rounded off by a compilation of relevant process- and technology-related requirements for a SysLM solution as well as a presentation of a concept for determining the degree of digitalization in engineering (maturity determination).

The experiments, carried on AIRBUS systems, show that testability analysis can ease system formal detailed specifications validation activities. Indeed, testability information can highlight testing efforts, guide functional tests definition, facilitate detailed specification coverage analysis against system requirements, and support tests coverage analysis against formal detailed specification.

This paper provides an overview of the process, practices, developments and synergies that Airbus Defence and Space are implementing Human system Integration (HSI) into the Continuous Engineering/Model Based system Engineering (MBSE) throughout the company. The paper highlights these developments, which include internal research programmes, European Union funded research projects and Airbus internal synergy projects to provide a complete system engineering lifecycle. This research includes an EU funded 3 year project HoliDes-Holistic Human Factors and system Design of Adaptive Cooperative Human Machine systems [1]. HSI has been incorporated in the project lifecycle via US Military (DoD-Instruction 5000.2) [2] with the introduction of a Human system Integration Plan, which is a key requirement for the validation and verification of any new system or any modification to any existing US military system. Airbus DS has used HSI in several innovative approaches, these include, the dramatic reduction in the manpower and costs of deployment and logistic support for large scale military operations, the integration with our Architectural Framework to provide a system architecture that is compliant with the US and UK Lines of development-Training, Equipment, Personnel (HR), Organisation, Information, Logistics, Concepts and Doctrine and Infrastructure and the introduction of ILS and Training into our MBSE approach. Airbus DS recognises the need to integrate HSI into its system engineering lifecycle as in the past the inclusion of human interaction has generally been missed and as most systems interact with people, HSI provides Airbus DS with complete systems integration process. Our Human system Integration (HSI) work at Airbus DS is evolving from the initial Human View Architectural Framework research [4] and then the nine HSI domains-Manpower, Personnel, Training, Human Factors Engineering, Environment, Occupational Health, Safety, Survivability and Habitability [5].

The paper introduces the concept of model-based performance testing, which we plan to pursue in our research. The underlying idea is to describe various performance aspects as well as functional aspects of a software system using modeling languages like UML, and from the resulting models to automatically design tests that can be used for performance testing. In our research, we also plan to focus on how the modeling and traceability of performance requirements can be achieved across the testing process.

The number of servitized manufacturers is growing, along with the number of product-service system (PSS) offerings. Digitally-enabled PSS offerings can be complex value constructs comprising multiple products and services organized and executed to create new value for the stakeholders. Recent and past literature have focused on developing and commercializing such PSS offerings. While the most recent literature focuses on the role and influence of digital servitization and PSS theory, very few papers have introduced the need for investigating the lifecycle management of PSS offerings. The early contributions focus on lifecycle management frameworks and are mainly based on academic data, thus needing proper industrial validation. Therefore, this paper explores practitioners' challenges related to the three main types of PSS offerings: product-oriented, use-oriented, and result-oriented. The paper's results are based on insights generated by expert interviews from different industries. The results show a need for a systematic approach to the lifecycle management of digitally-enabled PSS offerings, especially for use- and result-oriented offerings. It is becoming more critical due to sustainability aspects.

Among all types of cancers, breast cancer is the most crucial and fatal cancer particularly for women as it is considered the second leading cause for cancer death among women. When it's a question of survival, correct treatment is a vital requirement, and for proper treatment, the first requirement is to identify cancer accurately. Here, we are motivated to provide a highly reliant and consistent system for the prediction of breast cancer. In the proposed method, we have used ensemble learning for the desired accuracy. The ensemble voting system comprises a total of five machine learning (ML) classifiers which include Random Forest, Naive Bayes, SVM with two different kernels (rbf, polynomial), K-Nearest Neighbors and Decision Tree. We experimented on the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Dataset from UCI machine learning repository. We achieved a maximum testing accuracy of 99.28% and a maximum precision of 97.22% while using 5 -fold cross validation. The proposed system exhibited satisfying accuracy on the dataset and outperformed many of the prominent existing methods.

The use of information and communication technology (ICT) makes it possible to propose solutions to optimize the management of people and processes. This work presents the development of a remote monitoring system of safety equipment using Radio Frequency Identification technology (RFID), managed by a software, also developed in this research. The routine combined laboratory testing for hosting and system validation and testing at a construction site for verification of the system in an environment of real construction. The model proved to be efficient in the identification and localization of the equipment through the indication of its position using images in plant. The model has also supplied graphical reports showing the characteristics of each equipment presenting the following data: name, construction, placement, brand, material, conservation, revision and person responsible. The development of managerial tools contributes to the advance of the security equipment optimized management in the construction site.

Cross Domain systems for handling classified information complicate the certification test and evaluation problem, because along with multiple data owners comes duplicate responsibility for residual risk. Over-reliance on independent verification and validation by certifiers and accreditors representing different government agencies is interpreted as conflating the principle of defence-in-depth with the practice of repeated verification and validation testing. Using real-world examples of successful and unsuccessful certification test and evaluation efforts to guide the development of a new communication tool for accreditors, this research aims to reduce time and cost wasted on unnecessary retesting of the same or similar security requirements during security test and evaluation in multi-level environments.

The integration of retarding components represents a crucial challenge for reusing component test cases for integration testing. Failing to synchronize both test stimulation and test evaluation easily results in useless test executions missing the actual test objectives. We propose a method for balancing and compensating delays for multi-level test cases. With this approach, reusing component test cases for integration testing becomes possible even in presence of components introducing large delays. It represents a better alternative to test case parameterization.
