Epidemiological studies aim at predicting the outbreak of diseases as epidemics and pandemics. This goal is often realized using closed form expressions that significantly utilize systems of differential equations. These systems of equations are often derived by groups of researchers working in global collaborative efforts. However, groups of researchers can experience a high workload in scenarios when there is large number of non - active participating researchers in a collaborative study. In addition, data explosion and increased availability can also undermine the efforts of hardworking researchers. This is because of the high velocity and variety associated with big data availability. Hence, an approach that helps researchers to address these challenges is required The discussion in this research proposes a suitable solution in this regard The proposed solution introduces the notion of cognitive epidemiology and epidemiological crawlers in a novel computing framework In the proposed computing framework, crawlers and existing closed form expressions used in epidemiological studies interact Prior to this interaction, epidemiological closed form expressions are formatted in a manner to enable the incorporation of intelligence capability. The research presents execution paths and discusses the incorporation alongside the integration of the proposed mechanism in a manner suitable for integration with the internet.

Much of the real-world image data is unlabeled or mislabeled. Therefore, even if there is no label, if similar images can be grouped together with image data itself and used the group as a label, more image data can be effectively used in various tasks. This will be especially effective when dividing images belonging to the same domain into sub-groups. Therefore, in this study, we propose an image feature extraction method to be used for image clustering. The proposed feature extraction model is the Multi-head Convolutional Autoencoder (MCAE), which is a model composed of multiple encoders in parallel based on the Convolutional Autoencoder (CAE). The proposed model showed about 14% lower test reconstruction loss compared to CAE, and the correlation coefficient between extracted features was about 56% lower. In addition, as the results of clustering based on the extracted features, MCAEbased clustering showed about 3.5 times higher silhouette score than that CAE-based clustering.

To address network congestion and data privacy concerns, federated learning (FL) that combines multiple clients and a parameter server has been widely used in mobile edge computing (MEC) networks to process the abundant data generated by mobile clients. However, the existing client sampling methods do not adequately consider the data heterogeneity and system heterogeneity. Parameter server selects inappropriate clients to participate in the FL training process. This inevitably leads to slower convergence of the global model and higher energy consumption. In this paper, we design a client sampling model with the goal of selecting suitable clients to improve the energy efficiency of FL in heterogeneous MEC networks. Then we propose an energy-efficient client sampling strategy by quantifying the communication capability, computation capability and data quality of clients. Based on the quantization results, clients are assigned with a corresponding sampled probability. Simulation results show that our proposed strategy can effectively accelerate the convergence of the global model and reduce the energy consumption compared with the baseline schemes.

Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) are promising energy-efficient models for neuromorphic computing. For training the non-differentiable SNN methods, the backpropagation through time (BPTT) with surrogate gradients (SG) method has achieved high performance. However, this method suffers from considerable memory cost and training time during training. In this paper, we propose the Spatial Learning Through Time (SLTT) method that can achieve high performance while greatly improving training efficiency compared with BPTT. First, we show that the backpropagation of SNNs through the temporal domain contributes just a little to the final calculated gradients. Thus, we propose to ignore the unimportant routes in the computational graph during backpropagation. The proposed method reduces the number of scalar multiplications and achieves a small memory occupation that is independent of the total time steps. Furthermore, we propose a variant of SLTT, called SLTT-K, that allows backpropagation only at K time steps, then the required number of scalar multiplications is further reduced and is independent of the total time steps. Experiments on both static and neuromorphic datasets demonstrate superior training efficiency and performance of our SLTT. In particular, our method achieves state-of-the-art accuracy on ImageNet, while the memory cost and training time are reduced by more than 70% and 50%, respectively, compared with BPTT. Weather forecasting is used to forecast the atmosphere at a certain region based on various weather parameters. Marine forecasting enables mariners and meteorological agencies to anticipate future weather conditions across the Earth's waterways. Many scholars used big data to conduct different research studies on marine weather forecasting. Cryptographic bent functions are maximally nonlinear Boolean functions with an even number of variables. They are not only closely related to some interesting combinatorial objects, but also have important applications in coding, sequence design, cryptography and cyber security. In this paper, we firstly investigate the Walsh transform of two families of functions via Maiorana-MacFarland's class. Secondly, we present new infinite families of permutations. We show that those families have nice property that one can select three elements among them which can be used to construct bent functions. Finally, by using two linear translators, we construct bent functions from the class of Maiorana-MacFarland. © 2023 IEEE.

The presence of foreign objects on transmission lines significantly impacts the safe operation of the power grid. These foreign objects on transmission lines pose challenges such as small target size, low resolution, and varying dimensions. To address this, this paper introduces a small object detection algorithm tailored for foreign objects on transmission lines. Our contributions encompass a small object detection strategy, introducing a specialized layer to enhance the detection of small targets. Additionally, we propose the SCFormer attention mechanism, which integrates both channel and spatial features to augment modeling capabilities. Furthermore, we integrate deeply separable convolution into the backbone network of the YOLOv8 model, resulting in notable improvements in efficiency and speed. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach accurately detects foreign objects on transmission lines, achieving a mAP val 0.5 accuracy of 99.5%. Compared to traditional object detection algorithms, our method strikes a balance between speed and accuracy, establishing itself as a state-of-the-art algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.
