Efficient Remote Memory Paging for Disaggregated Memory Systems 1

Memory disaggregation has attracted increasing attention in recent years because it is a cost-efficient approach to scale memory capacity for applications in a data center. However, the latency of remote memory access is a major concern in disaggregated memory systems. This paper presents VANDI, a virtual memory paging mechanism that allows applications to use remote memory pools transparently. VANDI enables effective data caching and prefetching mechanisms to address the problem of high access latency in disaggregated memory systems. VANDI exploits a low-complexity cache replacement strategy to optimize the asynchronous staging queue so that the remote write latency can be significantly reduced. VANDI can also prefetch data in multi-granularity from a remote memory pool in an adaptive manner, and thus further improves the hit rate of the local cache to reduce the read latency of remote memory. Our extensive experiments using micro-benchmarks show that VANDI can improve the performance of typical remote paging system–Infiniswap by up to 15 × –102 ×. VANDI can also improve the performance of state-of-the-art disaggregated memory system–Valet by 1.2 × –2.7 ×. For typical machine learning workloads, VANDI can achieve 20% to 80% performance improvement compared with the state-of-the-art Valet. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

data, in its purest nature, has an authority on the systems it accompanies by feeding an accurate representation of the observed reality. In energy efficiency, the underlying motivation for big data efforts revolves around the intrinsic need to understand end-user electric energy consumption and means to improve it. Hence, developing a rich, detailed, and realistic power consumption dataset entails a deliberate process of preparing the data collection environment, configuring proper Internet of Energy (IoE) sensors and managing the collected data. In this work, a novel power consumption dataset is presented in efforts to improve the state-of-the-art of energy efficiency research in buildings. The dataset is also accompanied by a two-dimensional (2D) counterpart produced using Gramian Angular Fields (GAF) that creates pictorial summaries from one-dimensional (ID) data. data acquisition is carried out using the ODROID-XU4 edge computing hub, Home Assistant software, and a collection of smart plugs and sensors. A notable use case is presented to signify the merits of the data and its analysis tools to achieve computationally efficient classification. © IET conference Proceedings 2022.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), also known as drones, have been widely used in regional data collection and information search, but there are also many practical challenges. In real-world operations of UAV search, the payoff and cost at each search point are unknown for the planner in advance which poses a great challenge to decision making. To this end, we first propose the problem of online decision making in UAV search planning where the drone has limited energy supply as a constraints and has to make an irrevocable decision to search this area or route to the next in an online manner. Then the online UAV search planning problem is decoupled into a traveling salesman problem (TSP) and an online resource planning problem such that it can be solved in a two-stage procedure. Specifically, the routing of search is obtained by solving TSP based on ant colony optimization, and the online decision is made through an online linear programming which is proven to be near-optimal. The effectiveness of the proposed two-stage approach is validated in wide-Applied dataset, and experimental results show the superior performance of online search decision making. © 2022 ACM.

With the increase of customer requirements and customized products needs, mechanical systems are becoming more sophisticated and equipped with intelligent parts. With this level of intelligence the mechanical systems become more and more complex and also their assembly processes becomes tedious. Therefore, the Industry 4.0 promotes efficient and smart assembly design to support commissioning automation and consequently customer satisfaction. This paper de-scribes the different challenges of assembly design, before presenting the advances on data analysis and Industry 4.0 technologies that can support intelligent assembly design. After analyzing these approaches, an innovative framework is proposed to provide the designer with a tool to address the different challenges of assemblies, based on the one hand on data from smart parts in operation (equipped with RFID sensors) transmitted by the Industrial Internet of Things and Cloud computing, and on the other hand on the analysis of these massive data and the use of deep learning algorithms. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

To improve the feature representation ability of the YOLOX algorithm and obtain better detection performance, an object detection algorithm based on second-order pooling network and gaussian mixture attention is proposed. Firstly, the second-order pooling network is added after the PAFPN, and the higher-order statistical information is obtained by calculating the covariance matrix between different channels, to enhance the non-linear modeling capability. Secondly, the mixture attention based on the gaussian function is added after the SPP to model global contexts in the spatial and channel dimensions respectively, which improves the network performance with almost no extra parameters. The experimental results show that the detection accuracy of the proposed algorithm on the PASCAL VOC dataset reaches 82.6 %, which is 1.6 % higher than the YOLOX algorithm. © 2022 ACM.

Recently, personalized product search attracts great attention and many models have been proposed. To evaluate the effectiveness of these models, previous studies mainly utilize the simulated Amazon recommendation dataset, which contains automatically generated queries and excludes cold users and tail products. We argue that evaluating with such a dataset may yield unreliable results and conclusions, and deviate from real user satisfaction. To overcome these problems, in this paper, we release a personalized product search dataset comprised of real user queries and diverse user-product interaction types (clicking, adding to cart, following, and purchasing) collected from ***, a popular Chinese online shopping platform. More specifically, we sample about 170,000 active users on a specific date, then record all their interacted products and issued queries in one year, without removing any tail users and products. This finally results in roughly 12,000,000 products, 9,400,000 real searches, and 26,000,000 user-product interactions. We study the characteristics of this dataset from various perspectives and evaluate representative personalization models to verify its feasibility. The paper describes the detection process using artificial intelligence. This aims in the detection of drowsiness for a car driver. The driver who is feeling drowsy, due to his/her reactive phenomena, the detection process is done. The detections are said to be whole face and eye detection. The eye detection has major qualities like position detecting, shape detecting, blink counting and so on. The main goal of this paper is to handle the driver without causing accidents on road. The driver’s fatigue shows the system to detect the eyes and to alert him within a fraction of seconds. The alert message is passed to the driver using the alert sound. This sound makes the driver to get alert if he closes his/her eyes. Geospatial data treatment is an important task since it is a big part of big data. Nowadays, geospatial data exploitation is lacking in terms of artificial intelligence. In this work, we focus on the usage of an machine learning models to exploit a geospatial data. We will follow a complete workflow from the collection and first descriptive analysis of the data to the preprocess and evaluation of the different machine learning algorithms. From unload dataset we will predict if the unload will lead to civil work, in other words, it is a classification problem. When a rolling bearing fails, the vibration signal of the bearing is unstable and the signal presents non-linear characteristics. As a result, the existing rolling bearing fault diagnosis system has a weak ability to extract the original signal, and the poor ability to identify the rolling bearing signal leads to the final diagnosis effect and expected performance. There is a big gap, in order to enhance the intelligence of the fault diagnosis system, improve the accuracy and generalization ability of the system, and adapt to the needs of factory big data fault diagnosis. This paper proposes a fault diagnosis method of rolling bearing based on improved convolution neural network. First, this method improves the existing activation function and pooling method. After the convolutional layer and pooling, a layer of convolutional layer is added, and the stochastic gradient descent algorithm is used to accelerate the training speed. At the same time, an improved uniformity is proposed. The variance is used as the loss function of the network. The method proposed in this paper is experimentally verified under the bearing data set of Case Western Reserve University, the classic rolling bearing data set, and the conclusion is drawn through the experiment: the experiment under the bearing data set of Case Western Reserve University of the classic rolling bearing data set has achieved better results than the traditional The model has better experimental results, good anti-dryness and better generalization ability. This diagnosis method provides a new idea for fault diagnosis methods, and has a good technical application prospect in industrial production. © 2022 IEEE.

The segmentation and location of the optic disc in retinal images is of great significance for early diagnosis of glaucoma. To solve the issue, a novel optic disc segmentation and location algorithm is proposed by U-NET network combing the BatchNorm structure. And the morphological opening and reconstruction are used to highlight the position of optic disc and the improved U-NET is utilized to train the segmentation model. The public database IDRiD is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Experimental results indicate that the U-NET can obtain better optic disc structure, especially for the extraction of optic disc edge. The average accuracy is 0.9972, sensitivity is 0.9835, specificity is 0.9975, and Area Under Curve is up to 0.9458, Dice is 0.9435, mIoU is 0.8932. The performances are more competitive than state-of-the-art methods. © 2022 ACM.
