Accurate wind power forecasting is crucial for efficient power grid operation with significant wind power integration. This study compares tree-based learning algorithms and advanced machine learning methods to optimize forecasting. Seventeen-year models using tree-based algorithms showed accuracy degradation with longer sampling intervals and height extrapolation. models were tested with varied heights and locations, demonstrating tree-based algorithms' long-term forecasting effectiveness. Combined datasets and the k-nearest neighbors algorithm filled missing data. Statistical indicators showed ANN's robust forecasting capabilities. MATLAB and Jupyter Python provided insights into optimizing models for reliable wind energy production.

This systematic review provides a comprehensive overview of the methods used to integrate genomic and clinical data in cancer prediction. The review includes 19 studies across various cancers, including breast, colorectal, melanoma, lung, pancreatic, and thyroid. The studies employed different methods to combine genomic and clinical data, including weighted polygenic risk scores, genetic and non-genetic risk scores, and different machine learning algorithms. The results show significant improvements in model prediction performance accuracy across multiple studies. The review highlights the potential benefits of integrating genetic and phenotypic information to improve disease risk prediction models and inform personalized healthcare strategies.

Thermal ablation is the process related to the destruction of tissue by elevated tissue temperatures or depressed tissue temperatures. The machine exploited to perform for this process is named thermal ablator, requiring in input the area of the tissue to be subjected to treatment. In this proposal, with the aim to assist doctors in the process of the detection of the area targeted by the thermal ablator, we propose a methodology based on formal methods considering the representation of medical images in terms of formal and mathematical representations for the detection of the area. Bladder cancer (BCa) is one of the most prevalent cancers worldwide and accounts for high socioeconomic impact. BCa can manifest in the form of nonaggressive and usually non-muscle invasive (NMIBC) tumors that recur and require chronic invasive surveillance, or aggressive and muscle invasive (MIBC) tumors with high associated mortality. These two subtypes exhibit distinct prognosis and require different therapeutic approaches. In the present study, we conducted an integrative bioinformatics analysis, combining transcriptomic data from various microarray experiments, in order to reveal a common signature of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the two subtypes. Subsequently, we constructed the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of the DEGs and defined the hub genes based on 11 topological analysis methods. Then, the most significant hub genes were identified using LASSO logistic regression algorithm. The selected genes were finally used as features in supervised classification algorithms, namely support vector machines and random forests, for BCa subtype discrimination. The models' evaluation showed area under the curve (AUC) values up to 96% as regards separating NMIBC from MIBC tumors. Genes driving the separation between tumor subtypes may prove to be important biomarkers for BCa development and progression, and eventually candidates for therapeutic targeting.
