In modern manufacturing systems, maintenance operations are the key to improve machines' reliability and availability, and hence to improve system productivity and quality. Maintenance can be roughly categorized to Corrective Maintenance (CM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM). Since the production system is highly stochastic and maintenance actions could either be perfect or imperfect, it is a complex decision to make on when, where, and which type of maintenance action should be taken. In this paper, a maintenance control law is proposed to schedule cost-effective maintenance, either CM or PM, in a real-time fashion. The control cost consists of a resource cost, and the immediate and potential production losses due to the stoppage caused by the maintenance action. A data-driven model is used to evaluate the production losses. A case study is performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control method by comparing three different maintenance policies.

In the water environment, we are dealing with a complex mixture of pollutants. Modern monitoring systems, mainly based on the physicochemical methods of monitoring the aquatic environment, cannot quickly determine the full range of pollutants and assess the degree of danger of an agent for the ecosystem and humans. The most effective for solving these problems are bioelectronic (biosensor) systems for automated monitoring of surface waters, in which animals are directly incorporated into the electronic registration system of certain physiological, biochemical, or behavioral biomarkers. Such systems, in contrast to physico-chemical methods of monitoring, allow obtaining an integral toxicological characteristic of the aquatic environment, regardless of the origin and composition of pollutants, and in real time to assess the quality of water as the habitat of hydrobionts. The article presents the results of the development automated biological early warning system for water environment. As the main element of this system, the authors developed a device for automated monitoring of aquatic media (DAMAM) based on the behavioral reactions of bivalve mollusks and computer program kits. In addition, for the implementation of the system, the authors developed software for server and system users.

The beat frequency characteristic of the recovery voltage of fault phase in the case of single-phase grounding transient fault happening to line with the shunt reactors is analyzed. Besides, the paper analyzes the reason of no beat frequency phenomenon of transient fault happening to line without shunt reactor. The AC power networks with metallic grounding fault and arc grounding fault are analyzed by simulation. The recovery voltage of single-phase grounding fault in AC/DC hybrid power grid is studied by PSCAD. The new problems of the adaptive re-closure in AC-DC hybrid power system are discussed. Then the follow-up ideas to solve several existing problems are also presented.

This paper introduces a more complete and complex dynamics simulation tool for an exoskeletal human upper limb assistant system. This heterogeneous simulation model couples the articulated dynamics of a 6 degree-of-freedom (DoF) wearable exoskeleton with an upper-limb human neuromechanics model of 12 skeletal and 42 muscular DoFs with corresponding controls. Furthermore, the process forces of tool-mediated manipulation tasks can be fed into the overall system. This simulation tool can be used for various purposes such as 1) design and evaluation of human-centered exoskeleton controllers 2) evaluating human motor control hypotheses during exoskeleton use and 3) investigating various properties and the performance on exoskeleton systems and manipulation tasks. This framework is used exemplary in designing and implementing a human kinematic latent-space controller for a power drilling manipulation task under exoskeletal assistance.

Over the recent years many solutions to the problems of anti-locking and traction control have been widely investigated for four-wheeled vehicle equipped with both electric and internal combustion engines. Few works are relative to TCS (Traction control System) for two-wheeled vehicle and most of them take advantage of well established nonlinear techniques. This paper proposes a traction controller for two-wheeled electric vehicle based on nonlinear model predictive approach. The controller objective is to prevent the traction wheel from spinning out when accelerating in order to maintain the driving performance as well as driving comfort. A proper evaluation of the interaction between the rider command and the controller action is made in order that the controller take over the rider's input as soon as longitudinal slip condition is detected. In controlled state the optimal driving torque that guarantees optimal traction is computed based on a model predictive approach taking into account the nonlinearities of the system conveyed by the friction forces. The controller has been tested in simulation environment.
