There is an increasing interest in aligning information systems in a process-oriented way. As an alternative of the traditional imperative models which tend to be too rigid, processes may be specified in a declarative...

We study nonlinear power systems consisting of generators, generator buses, and non-generator buses. First, looking at a generator and its bus' variables jointly, we introduce a synchronization concept for a pair of such joint generators and buses. We show that this concept is related to graph symmetry. Next, we extend, in two ways, the synchronization from a pair to a partition of all generators in the networks and show that they are related to either graph symmetry or equitable partitions. Finally, we show how an exact reduced model can be obtained by aggregating the generators and associated buses in the network when the original system is synchronized with respect to a partition, provided that the initial condition respects the partition. Additionally, the aggregation-based reduced model is again a power system.

The purpose of a Multiphysics Analysis is the modeling of complex physical systems where different kinds of physical effects act simultaneously. We would like to predict the behavior of a machine with the least number of neglected effects. Nowadays more Finite Element Method (FEM) based simulation software are readily available to study the physics of an electrical machine. Although, there are no standardized solutions that would fit every kind of electric motor analysis. In this paper we will present a method how to go through step-by-step on the different physical phenomena of an electrical machine and therefore analyze the different design and working aspects.

The disturbance compensation algorithm for continuous-time multi input multi output (MIMO) nonlinear plants under parametric uncertainties and external disturbances with quantized output signal is proposed. The auxiliary loop approach is used for estimation disturbance function. The proposed algorithm guarantees that the output of the plant tracks the reference output with the required accuracy. The experimental results on non-linear twin rotor MIMO system illustrate the efficiency and robustness of the suggested control system.

Predictive control is an efficient model-based methodology to controlcomplex dynamical systems. In general, it boils down to the resolution at each control cycle of a large nonlinear optimization problem. A critical issue is then to provide a good guess to initialize the nonlinear solver so as to speed up convergence. This is particularly important when disturbances or changes in the environment prevent the use of the trajectory computed at the previous control cycle as initial guess. In this paper, we introduce an original and very efficient solution to automatically build this initial guess. We propose to rely on off-line computation to build an approximation of the optimal trajectories, that can be used on-line to initialize the predictive controller. To that end, we combined the use of sampling-based planning, policy learning with generic representations (such as neural networks), and direct optimal control. We first propose an algorithm to simultaneously build a kinodynamic probabilistic roadmap (PRM) and approximate value function and control policy. This algorithm quickly converges toward an approximation of the optimal state-control trajectories (along with an optimal PRM). Then, we propose two methods to store the optimal trajectories and use them to initialize the predictive controller. We experimentally show that directly storing the state-control trajectories leads the predictive controller to quickly converges (2 to 5 iterations) toward the (global) optimal solution. The results are validated in simulation with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and other dynamical systems.

In practical problems, the dynamic systems are usually nonlinear. In this case, the traditional Kalman filter cannot be used for state estimation or fault detection. The two typical extension based on Kalman filtering framework is the Extended Kalman Filter ( EKF) and the Unscented Kalman Filter ( UKF). Theoretically speaking, UKF is better than EKF when estimation accuracy is concerned, especially for high degree nonlinear cases. This paper is concerned with the state estimation and fault detection problem for a class of nonlinear dynamic systems. A novel fault detection and analyse method is presented based on the period residual of EKF and UKF. For different kind of faults, mainly, the system parameter error, the sensor/data error, EKF and UKF are used, and the estimation and fault detection effects are compared and analyzed.

Urban environments often imply complex transportation infrastructures with manifold different traffic participant using various modes of transport. These traffic participants interact with each other in different ways, often in specific patterns of communication. One option for understanding these interactions may come from microscopic traffic flow simulations. Simulated traffic on modelled urban transportation infrastructures may deliver insights on general traffic-related problems or show specific locations of high risk of accidents or of low traffic quality. Besides having a general view on microscopic traffic flow simulation results, we propose one option for experiencing these simulations from a first-person perspective visualization as one interacting traffic participant on a non-moving physical bicycle. We introduce a procedure for implementing a bicycle simulator for testing various scenarios in three-dimensional environments. By including individual realtime bicycle movements of test subjects into ongoing traffic simulations, we are able to derive individual behavioral strategies to cope with the modelled transportation infrastructure and with simulated vehicle drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians from the point of view of an urban bicyclist. We aim to introduce a novel technique for (1) analyzing present problems of traffic and built infrastructural elements, and, (2) inspecting planned scenarios with variations in traffic compositions (participants and modes) and built infrastructure (inclusion of new design elements). One first test scenario is implemented for gaining first insights on the usefulness of the presented device.

The article considers problems of the dynamics of the transport object, oriented to improve the reliability and safety of operation in terms of vibrational external perturbations. It proposes technologies for constructing mathematical models and determining the conditions for dynamic oscillation damping. The purpose of research is to develop a method for constructing mathematical models to estimate dynamic states and determine the conditions for obtaining dynamic effects of “zeroing out” of movements in individual coordinates. To achieve this, methods of structural mathematical modeling are used. The scientific novelty of the work involves the possibility of assessing the formation of dynamic states of mechanical oscillatory systems with the introduction of additional constraints. A technology has been developed for the transition from the transfer functions of systems to the equations of state to estimate the frequencies of dynamic oscillation damping.

Dynamic cycle time setting and line balancing are the most significant problems in modular manufacturing. Industry 4.0 and IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) based production management systems connect decentralized production units and information sources to increase productivity and flexibility. We developed an IIoT based solution to ensure a real-time connection between products and assembly lines. The proposed dynamic cycle time setting algorithm takes into account the varying complexity of the product based on the real-time information provided by smart wireless sensors and an Indoor Positioning System (IPS). In this paper, we overview Industry 4.0 based assembly line management solutions, present the developed IIoT based infrastructure, and demonstrate the applicability of the proposed cycle time setting algorithm in a simulation example motivated by an industrial open station conveyor.
