New Trends in Theory and Applications of complexcontrolsystems Special Issue in Journal of control Theory and Applications In recent years modeling and control of complexsystems, in particular complex nonlinear systems, have been one of the most active fields in the community of system and control. Various methods such as adaptive control, switching control, distributed and network-based control design methods have been proposed to cope with the complexity of systems under appropriate mathematical assumptions. However, considerable efforts are still needed in order to bridge the

During the past years, research and development actions in fuel cell technology have been stepped up within industry and universities. Therefore, fuel cells are now displacing towards commercial forwardness, or expecting a discovery within the next few years. Being an extensive technology, fuel cells are encountered with different designs and in several applications. The most important fields are small-scale power and heat generation, vehicle propulsion and portable purposes, such as substitutions for batteries. Having high efficiency, modular design and low noise these devices can represent an important role in next energy conversion. Nevertheless, problems such as cost are still the major barriers, although significant advances have been made in late years. SOFC based generation system use a stack consisting of 384 fuel cells connected in series, this provides 120-140kW output power in stand-alone mode. The system has been analyzed when a step load is applied. Matlab-Simulink (R) is used for the modeling and simulation of the fuel processor, fuel cell generator and power conditioning unit.

A fast target maneuver detecting and highly accurate tracking technique using a neural fuzzy network based on Kalman filter is proposed in this paper. In the automatic target tracking system, there exists an important and difficult problem: how to detect the maneuvers and fast response to avoid miss-tracking? To solve this problem, neural network and fuzzy algorithm have been issued recently. However, the normal neural networks such as backpropagation networks usually produce the extra problems of low convergence speed and/or large network size, and the fuzzy algorithms are not easy to partition the parameters. To overcome these defects and to make use of neural learning ability, a developed standard Kalman filter with a self-constructing neural fuzzy inference network (KF-SONFIN) algorithm for target tracking is presented in this paper. Without having to change the structure of Kalman filter nor modeling the maneuvering target, SONFIN algorithm, can always find itself an economic network size with a fast learning process. Simulation results show that the KF-SONFIN is superior to the traditional IE and VDF methods in estimation accuracy.
The fuzzy controller has some limitations that lack of stability analysis and low control accuracy. And the stability of flight attitude is not ideal in the study of the optimal control of flight attitude stability of...

Contemporary land-survey satellites are placed onto the orbit altitudes from 600 up to 1000 km. For such spacecraft we consider some principal problems on the spacecraft attitude digital and pulse-width control and present elaborated methods for in-flight identification, verification and management of attitude control system with animation of satellite motion. An ESA ground segment is a complex system-of-systems, consisting of hardware, software and networks, the continuous operation of which is critical for mission success. As these systems and the operations centre infrastructure evolve to meet newer and higher requirements, it is increasingly difficult to keep an overview, especially for long-term missions. In the case of XMM-Newton and Integral (ESA’s X-ray and γ-ray observatories) the complete Mission control System (MCS) was recently upgraded from a client server system in place since the late 1990s. Physical servers and clients were replaced by virtual machines running on virtual hardware located in a remote data centre. The control rooms are now equipped with Desktop Terminal Units (DTU) connecting to a Sun-Ray Server (SRS) visualisation layer routing graphical displays from a remote server or client to the user’s screen through a Secure Global Desktop (SGD) connection. With this level of complexity it is challenging to keep an overview of each positions connections and exceedingly difficult to troubleshoot in case of problems. As budget for missions in extended lifetime are smaller than for new missions, reduced teams are required to supervise and operate these complexsystems. Currently individual systems are used to monitor each ground segment facility. This breaks down the complexity, but requires more personnel and doesn’t allow an overall view. These facilities carry out system level monitoring but do not monitor the mission specific applications running on such systems. Furthermore some anomalies cannot be detected by monitoring each facility in isolation;their cause and effect extend across systems in different domains.. We present a new software, whose design is based on Integral and XMM-Newton’s use-case, but the philosophy and tool are configurable to suit the needs of any missions ground segment. Two major goals are to be achieved. A) to allow an easy overview of the complete end-to-end ground segment
