Smart grid defines a modern power system with completely integrated, flexible and communicative power supply structure. It is becoming smarter by adding distributed energy sources, control and automation techniques and advanced information technologies resulting in increased degree of complexity. This complexity of smart grid systems brings along a new set of problems and it is imperative to address them. The purpose of this paper is to provide a technical overview of physically realizable techniques for modeling and control of smart grids based on real time information, actions and monitoring for efficient, reliable, power dense and economic operations. These techniques are analyzed in detail and their effectiveness has been demonstrated.

The interplanetary spacecraft (SC) expedition from the Earth to Mars with a returning to the Earth optimization problem is considered. The attraction of the Sun only is taken into account. Two trajectories of interplanetary flights of this mission are approximated by Keplerian orbits and are obtained as solutions of Lambert's problems with the use of universal variable, Stiunpff functions and Newton's method. The positions and the velocities of the Earth and Mars are calculated with the use of ephemerides DE424. The SC starts from the Earth for the period of 2020-2030 and stay at field near Mars at least for 30 days to carry out near-Mars scientific investigation. The total time of the expedition is limited to 1500 days. The characteristic velocity is minimized. The 64 local minima of this multiextremal problem are found numerically with the use of the gradient method and examined with the second-order optimality conditions with the use of Sylvesters criterion. Each Lambert's problem is given by two moments of time-moments of start and finish of the SC in this statement. So corresponding matrixes are 4x4. The subject of the article is actual in connection with the growing interest in the study of other planets of the Solar System and near-planetary spaces, and accordingly the planning of such missions. This study is the first part of the solving optimization problems in more complex statements namely, a rough global optimization is performed to find potentially optimal time intervals for such missions with the verification of their optimality. The paper describes the method and gives certain results.

The article considers the methodological and practical foundations of the constituent relationships in the tourist destination. Intellectual technologies cover almost all aspects of life these days, although they are often taken for granted. The tourism industry has become one of the most active entities using the latest IT technologies in order to increase the volume and quality of services provided, and to increase its efficiency. The key elements of the relationship are defined in accordance with the concept of smart tourism at the regional level. Analysis, comparison and synthesis of the most effective mechanisms of regional relationships that form a complex of smart tourism have made it possible to identify key aspects of the communication core of a smart destination.

The paper considers the multilevel methods of unsteady gas flow modeling in gas transport systems of arbitrary configuration, i.e., containing internal and external closed loops. Computational modeling relies on a generalized solution to initial boundary value problem for nonlinear partial differential equations with discontinuous coefficients describing the unsteady pressure and flow distribution in the gas transport system. Considered methods are focused on the use of different variants of finite volume (balance), finite-element (variational) and multigrid approximations of generalized solutions of parabolic equations. The number of levels of the hierarchy of calculations determined by the structure of gas transport system. Proposed methods are vital for solutions of the main gas flow controlproblems for gas transport systems and ready for use with parallel computing application programming interfaces. In Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), service contracts are widely used for designing and developing the features (e.g., services and capabilities) of Service Providers (SPs). Two of the most widely used traditional service contracts in SOA are: WSDL and WADL. We identify that these service contracts suffer from several problems, like: they only work for SOAP and REST communication technologies and do not rely on modeling SOA Design Patterns (DPs). One benefit of using SOA DPs is that they permit developing proven SPs for different platforms. In order to overcome these problems, we introduce a new DP-based Feature Model (FM), named FMSP, as a service contract that models the variability of SP features including 15 SOA DPs (e.g., Event-driven messaging DP) and their corresponding constraints. This permits to easily identify and develop valid SOA compound DPs. We demonstrate, through a practical case study and a developed tool, that our FMSP allows to automatically generate fully functional, valid, highly customized and DP-based SPs. We also show that our FMSP reduces the required effort and time to develop SPs.

The combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet-of-Things (IoT), which is denoted as AI powered Internet-of-Things (AIoT), is capable of processing huge amount of data generated from large number of devices and handling complexproblems in social infrastructures. As AI and IoT technologies are becoming mature, in this paper, we propose to apply AIoT technologies for traffic light control, which is an essential component for intelligent transportation system, to improve the efficiency of smart city's road system. Specifically, various sensors such as surveillance cameras provide real-time information for intelligent traffic light control system to observe the states of both motorized traffic and non-motorized traffic. In this paper, we propose an intelligent traffic light control solution by using distributed multi-agent Q learning, considering the traffic information at the neighboring intersections as well as local motorized and non-motorized traffic, to improve the overall performance of the entire control system. By using the proposed multi-agent Q learning algorithm, our solution is targeting to optimize both the motorized and non-motorized traffic. In addition, we considered many constraints / rules for traffic light control in the real world, and integrate these constraints in the learning algorithm, which can facilitate the proposed solution to be deployed in real operational scenarios. We conducted numerical simulations for a real-world map with real-world traffic data. The simulation results show that our proposed solution outperforms existing solutions in terms of vehicle and pedestrian queue lengths, waiting time at intersections, and many other key performance metrics.

Finding volunteer patients and/or getting ethical approval for experimental studies on human participants are generally serious problems in the field of biomedical engineering. Therefore, this paper presents a new microcontroller-based phonocardiogram (PCG) signals simulator. The developed simulator generates graphical representations of normal and three diseased heart sounds;namely mitral valve insufficiency, aortic stenosis, and ventricular septal defect. Discrete wavelet transform has been used to pre-process four heart sounds datasets, in order to denoise and decompose these PCG signals to the third approximated level. The developed PCG simulator was implemented using the Arduino Due (R) microcontroller. The simulated PCG signals are nearly equal to the real heart signals. Therefore, they are accepted to represent different scenarios of the heart sounds with disorders clinically. Graphical micro-controller-based heart sounds simulator has been successfully developed to support biomedical engineering education and research studies in the field of physiological signals analysis.

The paper presents a uniform approach to general-system analysis of complex production activity (CPA). The formal description of CPA is based including the model of a structural element of activity and the structural models of CPA. The role of uncertainty in CPA and its technology development is discussed. A general-system algorithm of CPA technology development is described. It is demonstrated that the development of the CPA technology might be reduced to a). the description CPA in terms of structural models (at the general-system level);b).the development of industry-specific technologies for each of the elementary operations. In this paper we consider the application of proposed analytics software for performance analysis and visualization of complex financial systems. We give theoretical background of underlying mathematical method and present its application in information and communication technologies. Two nonparametric approaches data envelopment analysis (DEA) and free disposal hull (FDH) are used in this paper to develop a software system for convex and nonconvex frontier visualization and performance analysis of financial systems. Our theoretical results are validated by computational experiments on the data taken from financial accounts of Russian banks. Potential applications of proposed approach in situation room for decision support and strategic performance management are considered.
