In connection with the problems of development and implementation of perfect automatic and automated control systems for complex technological processes based on modern information technology tools, the development of research methods for multidimensional nonlinear discrete control systems is of particular relevance. The variety of these systems is due to the types of modulation, non-linearities, modes of operation of impulse elements, characteristics of continuous parts. The article deals with the problems of modeling and research of one-dimensional and multidimensional pulse-frequency systems with delay based on the use of dynamic graphs. One of the key points in solving the problem is an approach based on the maximum consideration of the physical features of these systems. Given the structural complexity of systems, it is necessary first of all to establish the possibility of decomposing the system into simpler subsystems. Then the study of the system can be reduced to the study of individual subsystems and the nature of their interaction, that is, to the determination of the properties of the system as a whole by the properties of its elements. systems with frequency-pulse modulation are essentially non-linear systems. The topological method based on dynamic graph models allows solving the fundamental difficulties of studying nonlinear discrete systems with delay, allows clearly and strictly formalizing their description, and makes it possible to obtain effective algorithms for analyzing one-dimensional and multidimensional systems of this class. The article presents an example of using the obtained algorithm. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper examines the impact of different modeling approaches for minimum uptime and downtime constraints in safety-constrained unit commitment (SCUC) problems. Six different approaches are tested on four power generation systems with varying levels of simulated and actual data, as well as small and large-scale optimization problems. The results demonstrate that an increased number of minimum uptime and downtime constraints can hinder problem-solving effectiveness. Furthermore, significant differences in solving effectiveness are observed among the different modeling approaches, even when they have similar constraint numbers. © 2023 IEEE.

Electro-hydraulic servo control systems find widespread applications in aerospace, engineering machinery, and robotics, where they are integral to maintaining the performance and safety standards of aircraft. This study focuses on examining the dynamic stiffness properties of hydraulic motors in these systems and analyzes how different parameters affect dynamic stiffness. Dynamic stiffness describes an actuator's rigidity and response characteristics in motion control scenarios, reflecting the stability and performance of aircraft actuators under complex dynamic operational conditions more accurately than static stiffness. The study employs modular modeling to establish a mathematical model for dynamic stiffness, revealing that the servo valve inherent frequency, damping coefficient, pipeline volume, and hydraulic oil bulk modulus exhibit low sensitivity. Proportional gain, servo valve gain, and servo valve flow coefficient show consistent sensitivity curves, indicating a strong correlation. Conversely, the leakage coefficient and hydraulic motor displacement sensitivity negatively correlate with frequency, while hydraulic motor inertia, damping coefficient, and gearbox reduction ratio positively correlate with frequency. These insights enhance the understanding of parameter impacts, aiding in the design and optimization of high-power-to-weight ratio hydraulic systems for aerospace applications. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2024.

The problem of finding quasi-optimal control of a complex dynamic object containing nonlinearity under incomplete information conditions is difficult to solve. One of the problems in solving it is the impossibility of using analytical approaches, such as the Pontryagin maximum principle. This is due to the fact that the description of such systems using differential equations has discontinuous right-hand sides. Another feature is the lack of information about the control object. All that is known about it is that it contains nonlinearity from a known class, as well as its response to various control actions. Such an object is called a “gray box”. In this paper, we consider the problem of finding quasi-optimal software control of a complex dynamic object containing nonlinearity under incomplete information conditions. To solve it, the authors propose to apply a modified numerical method based on the Pontryagin maximum principle and the algorithm of successive approximations, developed by F. L. Chernous'ko and I. A. Krylov, using a neurosimulator of the control object that accurately repeats its dynamics. An example of the operation of the presented method is given.

This paper presents an application of computational simulation to a production problem on unrelated parallel machines and dependent setup times, aiming at the reduction of jobs' total processing time (makespan). The scenarios studied by Rabadi, et al. (2014) were used, along with the SIMIO simulation software, to model and conduct experiments to study the impact of a set of sequencing rules. Based on the computational study carried out, it was possible to realize that simulation is a powerful tool to support scheduling processes, as it allows to reach generally good results in a reasonable time to properly support decision-making in the resolution of production problems. These problems are highly complex and dynamically changing in nature, being usually hard to solve. Thus, simulation tools are of particular interest in this field. Moreover, as these problems are characterized by a more or less extensible set of factors, parameters and conditions, it continues to be of primer importance to further explore its resolutions, namely based on simulation tools. This study relies on the base for being used in industrial practice in the context of iFixturing Project.

In recent years, the demand for the dexterous machine systems is increasing and various robot mechanisms have been developed. Above all, parallel robots have been taken attention because they have some advantages in the motion performance like high precision and high stiffness. However, the application is limited because the workspace is small and the kinematic characteristics including singularities is complex. Further consideration to overcome such problems at the view of the mechanism will lead to further application of parallel robots. In this study, we propose a new design of 7-DOF parallel robot with large workspace and high dynamic capability. The enlargement of the workspace is realized by the asymmetric architecture and additional joint at the base leading to the kinematic redundancy. The mechanism leads to a simple solution of the forward kinematics and the inverse kinematics available in the control cycle. The kinematic analysis leads to the simple control strategy to perform precise position control. Moreover, robust control is achieved utilizing the acceleration control method based on the disturbance observer. The experiments were conducted with the prototype and the results show that simple and robust position control is realized. This study gives insights to the mechanism of parallel robots and leads to the further application of them.

Consciousness-driven reinforcement learning: An online learning control framework

As a powerful tool for solving nonlinear complex system control problems, the model-free reinforcement learning hardly guarantees system stability in the early stage of learning, especially with high complicity learning components applied. In this paper, a reinforcement learning framework imitating many cognitive mechanisms of brain such as attention, competition, and integration is proposed to realize sample-efficient self-stabilized online learning control. Inspired by the generation of consciousness in human brain, multiple actors that work either competitively for best interaction results or cooperatively for more accurate modeling and predictions were applied. A deep reinforcement learning implementation for challenging control tasks and a real-time control implementation of the proposed framework are respectively given to demonstrate the high sample efficiency and the capability of maintaining system stability in the online learning process without requiring an initial admissible control.

The built-in permanent magnet (IPM) motor is a type of motor that positions permanent magnets within the rotor. It combines reluctance torque with magnet torque, making it extensively utilized in household appliances, industrial equipment, automobiles, and other domains. Neural networks are computational models with non-linear characteristics and potent learning capabilities, particularly adept at solving identification problems in complex, non-linear, uncertain, and ambiguous systems. During the network training process, the network progressively optimizes its performance through backward propagation and weight adjustment. This paper proposes a learning method that leverages a multi-layer neural network structure to optimize the efficiency of IPM motors, capitalizing on the characteristics of neural networks. The control method achieves optimal efficiency control by deriving and compensating the d-axis and q-axis current phase angles in real time so that the IPM motor can maintain efficient performance under various conditions. This method can effectively control the motor and improve control efficiency without relying on identification or estimation methods, even when the parameters of the controlled object change. The method's effectiveness is validated through comparative simulations with two traditional control techniques.

The paper develops an approach to solving practical problems by modeling teams of specialists with hybrid intelligent multi-agent systems. The paper discusses the phenomenon of cohesion, which occurs in long-term teams of specialists that jointly solve practical problems, as well as approaches to its multiagent computer modeling based on the exchange of information about agent's interests, knowledge, experience, development and coordination of common goals, values, norms, means and methods of activity. These mechanisms will simplify the process of integrating heterogeneous intelligent agents into a single system, which is especially important when they are created by independent development teams. The paper proposes the functional structure of the cohesive hybrid intelligent multi-agent system, the architectures of its agents, which are necessary for the implementation of the above mechanisms, and also considers the use of the system to solve the problem of planning the restoration of power supply after large-scale accidents. © 2022 IEEE.
