This paper presents a novel approach to modeling stochastic systems using Dynamic Probabilistic Automata (DPA), which integrates deterministic and stochastic elements within a unified framework. Traditional methods, such as Markov chains or mass service systems, often struggle with high-dimensional state spaces and complex interactions. DPA overcomes these limitations by enabling flexible modeling of systems with a high degree of uncertainty. It combines probabilistic transitions, deterministic rules, and external influences, making it suitable for diverse applications in biology, economics, physics, and beyond. The proposed methodology supports custom interaction rules, scenario forecasting, and computational optimization. It includes a hierarchical structure that connects stochastic processes, individual object properties, and aggregated meta-states, culminating in a global “world” model. This layered design enables the modeling of complex phenomena, such as rare events, dynamic environmental influences, and high-dimensional interactions. An important feature is DPA's ability to address inverse modeling problems, identifying potential configurations and rules leading to specific outcomes. This has significant implications for decision support systems, optimization tasks, and risk analysis. Future work involves enhancing this framework with big data capabilities, machine learning for parameter calibration, and parallel computing for real-time applications. The flexibility and adaptability of the DPA approach establish it as a powerful tool for advancing our understanding and management of complex systems under uncertainty.

The open-loop control of the stepper motor is simple, but it has low positioning accuracy, large torque pulsation, and low energy efficiency. While the sensorless closed-loop field-oriented control has high precision, small torque pulsation, and high energy efficiency, it has problems such as complex structure and a large calculation. To achieve a speed closed-loop, a sensorless control method combining an improved sliding mode back electromotive force observer is pro-posed, combining a high-order super-twisting sliding mode observer (SMO) and a third-order phase-locked loop (PLL). Super-twisting SMO improves the chattering problem of traditional one-order SMO, and third-order PLL can eliminate steady-state errors during acceleration and deceleration processes, enhancing the estimation accuracy and stability of the rotor position and speed. Finally, an experimental platform on the basis of a two-phase hybrid stepper motor was built to verify the effectiveness and reliability of the control strategy. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Large-scale cyber-physical systems, such as those for subway transportation or air traffic control, are becoming increasingly complex and often need to operate without human intervention. At the same time, these systems are subject to high requirements on the timing behavior and fault-tolerance. Consequently, the detection and mitigation of both hard and soft errors is of high importance in the already complex systems design process. The main challenges towards fault-aware real-time systems is the overall system design, in which the sheer size of the state-space and the system’s complexity exceeds the capacity of today’s development tools. In this paper, we present a new holistic methodology called FAA+RTS, for designing fault-aware adaptive real-time systems. We cover the entire path from system specification using a coordination language, via design-space exploration and task scheduling to the adaptive fault-aware runtime environment. Mitigating both hard and soft errors addresses competing requirements. Improving soft error tolerance (through redundant execution) may accelerate the aging process of silicon, thus expediting hard error failures. FAA+RTS is a novel solution as it integrates previously-isolated methods for dealing with multiple constraints into a single framework, presenting a single overview of all possible trade-offs to the application designer. This integration ensures that all aspects of system design, from specification to execution, are cohesively addressed, resulting in a robust and reliable system. We exemplify FAA+RTS using industrial-sized autonomous subway transportation system as a use-case. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The promotion and popularization of intelligent networked vehicles has driven the change of intersection control strategy from "passive response" to "active cooperation", and the existing research has the problems of high complexity of cooperative optimization modeling and difficult to update and optimize the strategy. How to realize more intelligent and systematic control of intersections in the complex and changing traffic environment has become an urgent problem to be solved. In this paper, the intersection traffic cooperative control problem is defined as a multi-intelligence reinforcement learning task, and the ecological guidance cooperative control architecture of networked vehicles based on hierarchical reinforcement learning is constructed, which characterizes the networked vehicles and intersection signals and their intrinsic associations through the design of heterogeneous intelligences, and the hierarchical reinforcement learning algorithm is designed for solving the ecological objectives of the intersection to solve the integrated and optimal cooperative control scheme. With the rapid development of robotics and automation, online trajectory planning faces problems such as poor adaptability to dynamic environments and low computational efficiency. This study aims to propose a collaborative optimization algorithm that combines deep learning and compliant control to improve the efficiency and accuracy of online trajectory planning. First, CNN is used for feature extraction and a prediction model is established. Then a compliant control strategy is designed to deal with dynamic obstacles to ensure the flexibility and stability of the robot in trajectory planning. The trained CNN model is then used to generate real-time trajectory predictions. The robot motion is adjusted through a fuzzy logic controller to optimize the relative position of the trajectory and obstacles. The average obstacle avoidance success rate of the algorithm in dynamic environments reaches 97%. The collaborative optimization algorithm of deep learning and compliant control effectively improves the real-time and accuracy of online trajectory planning, providing a new solution for the application of intelligent robots in complex environments. © 2025 IEEE.

The authors study the issues of using visual tools for the system design of complex cyber-physical system components. Based on the analysis of available design tools, effective methods of modeling the components of the Internet of Things have been identified. The main focus is made on the visual analysis of not only design and engineering solutions but also on the resolving of social and manufacturing issues in the development and production of cyber-physical system components. The study examines methods that can significantly improve the efficiency of complex system design. The authors demonstrate the feasibility of integrating visual system design tools with the overall project manufacturing chain, as well as the need for overall synchronization of project procedures during all stages of a systems project.

As one of the important electrical parameters in the study of the earth's medium, the complex resistivity of rock can help determine the temperature distribution, oil and gas reservoirs, mineral distribution, and underground water sources in the deeper parts of the earth. Therefore, specific reservoir parameters of rocks can also be indirectly obtained through simulation calculations and experimental analysis. This study combined classic induced polarization models such as Cole Cole model, Dias model, and Debye model to forward calculate the complex resistivity values of rocks. The complex resistivity values of different rock types calculated by the models were compared through rock physics experiments. Through a comparison with the experimental data and an analysis of the simulated induced polarization effect, the validity of the forward modeling results for various models was validated. Additionally, the relationship between the theoretical and experimental complex resistivity data of different rock types was examined. The research results have positive theoretical significance for helping with rock physics modeling, guiding the exploration and development of unconventional oil and gas resources in China, improving the accuracy of theoretical model inversion calculations and data interpretation, especially serving future oil and gas exploration and development work. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. In the absence of any observation system or low veracity of the data, it is possible to provide control over a limited time interval basing on a high-precision control object model used. The paper proposes to use a multilayer artificial neural network (ANN) to obtain such a model. In this case, instead of the ordinary differential equation (ODE) system in the Cauchy form, we get a mixed ODE-ANN mathematical model, the parameters of which are tuned to the dynamics of a particular control object. The paper describes the process of identification of the control object model including obtaining a sufficient volume of the training sample. General data properties are formulated to obtain a good model from the point of view of use in control problems. The problem of optimal control for an object described with ANN-based model is formulated and numerical approach for its solution is proposed. An example of solving the optimal control problem for a mobile robot based on the identified neural network model is given. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Freeform bending is a technique used to bend different tube profiles into complex structures. In the realm of Aritificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, data-driven approaches in modeling and in optimization based control contribute to the job being executed, by increasing product quality and reducing energy consumption and material waste. In previous works, soft-sensors as well as different factors affecting the geometry and the residual stresses have been investigated and been utilized in a preliminary closed-loop control structure. Later on, this control structure has been replaced with a control strategy called Residual Strategy Algorithm, that could, based on previous deviations in the geometry, proactively react in order to reduce their effects. In this paper, the previously developed Residual Strategy Algorithm is extended to include both, the geometry as well as the residual stresses of the tube being bent. Also the modelling of both will be discussed altogether. The validation of the algorithm is done using simulation results. Copyright © 2025 The Authors.
