Web applications, accessible via web browsers over the Internet, facilitate complex functionalities without local software installation. In the context of web applications, a workload refers to the number of user requests sent by users or applications to the underlying system. Existing studies have leveraged web application workloads to achieve various objectives, such as workload prediction and auto-scaling. However, these studies are conducted in an ad hoc manner, lacking a systematic understanding of the characteristics of web application workloads. In this study, we first conduct a systematic literature review to identify and analyze existing studies leveraging web application workloads. Our analysis sheds light on their workload utilization, analysis techniques, and high-level objectives. We further systematically analyze the characteristics of the web application workloads identified in the literature review. Our analysis centers on characterizing these workloads at two distinct temporal granularities: daily and weekly. We successfully identify and categorize three daily and three weekly patterns within the workloads. By providing a statistical characterization of these workload patterns, our study highlights the uniqueness of each pattern, paving the way for the development of realistic workload generation and resource provisioning techniques that can benefit a range of applications and research areas.

COVID-19 has several effects and disruptions to all sides of daily life. To minimize this effect, face mask should be worn to control its dangerous. To avoid the manual personal checking of the mask, which is a difficult and disturbing issue, the suggested idea is to develop an auto mask-checking based on mobile phone application platform that could be continuously running in real-time leading to a more beneficial and cheap surveillance system. Quite modern object detection platform, called, you only look once version 5x (YOLOv5x) is considered to realize this function. The model is trained using a custom-created dataset grouping mask/unmask persons' pictures. The model is invoked in Google Colab, transformed to a mobile application based on a light version of YOLOv5x, and then tested in real-time on a mobile phone. The application has also the capability for checking facemasks for a group of individuals in real-time with high-speed inference. Body temperature is also incorporated for each person using IR touchless sensor and monitored on the application interface. The developed real-time detector system is small-sized, low cost, lightweight, and fast response time, reaching 98.8% training\testing accuracy rate.

This paper presents a device that transforms a skate's sound and motion into a real-time auditory tool for figure skaters. Inspired by the skating tradition of "figures," the Motion Augmented Acoustic Skate system enhances a skate's existing acoustic feedback for non-jumping implementations. Using a contact microphone, an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), a radio transmitter, and a Wi-Fi micro-controller, the system wirelessly transmits sound and motion to an off-ice computer for signal processing. The resulting sonification output, altered through physical modeling and motion mappings, transmits back to the skater in real-time. The design and implementation of the Motion Augmented Acoustic Skate (MAAS) prototype is discussed as a future artistic, athletic, and somatic tool.
