In this paper, in order to ensure stable and efficient operation of a pilot-scale modified A(2)/O (anoxic/anaerobic/aerobic/pre-anoxic) -MBR plant, the automatic control system based on PLC is designed and introduced from the views of system configuration and unit control methods. The master computer undertakes the monitoring and managing task by Siemens WINCC 7.0 configuring software, while the slave computer implements the function of data collection and automatic control based on Siemens S7-300 PLC. intelligent PID algorithm is utilized to precisely control the influent flow rate, recycled flow rate and DO concentration in aerobic tank in this system. The commissioning. and operation practice has proved that the PLC-based automatic control system greatly improved the degree of automation and achieved high nutrient removal efficiency in this plant.

Cloud computing has been a study hot spot of computer network technology at home and abroad, since it was proposed in 2007. GIS raster data has amount of data, so when a large number of users access, traditional file mapping and network database, etc will have problems such as server overload, lower sharing efficiency. Cloud computing is undoubtedly the best ideas to solve storage and display of huge amount of raster data. At present, managing and display raster data on the public cloud platform have developed methods and techniques, in which Google Earth is one of the best. But using public cloud to manage massive raster data within the enterprise, it will bring security issues such as leakage of confidential data, so we need to build private clouds under LAN environment for enterprises. This paper, first, discussed the internal private cloud framework and the design of distributed file system under the LAN environment, and analyzed how to storage image pyramids for raster data in the distributed file system, and then proposed the Map / Reduce technology based on G / S mode, to achieve load balancing strategy for data download. Studies show that the private cloud framework in this paper, the grid download ability continuously improved, as the data nodes increases, it can meet internal management and shared purpose of raster data, the research results have a theoretical value and practical significance. © 2012 IEEE.

Soil and water loss has been a major environmental problem in the Danjiangkou Reservoir region where slope farming is commonly practiced but the local topography is hilly. As the core water region for the "South-to-North Water Transfer Project", certain measures should be implemented to ensure the safe of water quality. In consideration of the poor socioeconomic position of local farmers, the application of the low cost contour hedgerows had been an important measure of the utilization and conservation of slope land. However, there is a lack of information on different contour hedgerows on control of nutrient, soil and water loss in Danjiangkou Reservoir region. Based on the wheat-maize rotation pattern, a runoff experiment was conducted on a sloping land with a gradient of 14° to investigate the impact of different contour hedgerows on control of nutrient, soil and water loss on sloping land in Danjiangkou Reservoir region. Results showed that hedgerows could notably reduce soil erosion and runoff soon after their establishment, the Lonicera japonica Thunb. hedgerow showed the best effect on it. All of the four tested hedgerows could reduce slope gradient in a certain extent, while Lonicera japonica Thunb. hedgerow exhibited the most obvious effect on it. Hedgerow treatments could effectively reduce soil nutrient loss. Results and findings of this paper will contribute towards a technical reference for the promotion and adoption of hedgerows in the Danjiangkou Reservoir region.

Aimed at the current status and existing problems of safety monitoring of domestic coal mines, a computer-controlled coal mine safety monitoring system is proposed. The integrated system is composed of three subsystems: monitoring, communication and control subsystems. monitoring subsystem is composed of gas, wind speed, negative pressure, temperature etc sensors, which are distributed in the mine and used to carry out real-time monitoring. The communication subsystem consists of Coordinators, Routers and End node and performs wireless communication. These two subsystems establish contact with the central control computer located on the surface by the CAN buses. The system can simultaneously transmit real-time data to the host computer in the management center and the mobile-phones of the responsible personnel by GPRS module, and when the data exceed the limited values, an alarm will occur. Compared with data transmission through conventional bus, application of wireless sensor network and GPRS network technologies reduces investment on underground lines-laying and maintenance difficulties, ensures timely, accurate and rapid transmission of data in all key underground mining zones and improves efficiency of the system. The system has such dominants as easybuilding up, powerful-function, high-reliability, good-extendibility and etc. The system is an advanced approach to solve the present key problem that wireless communication distance is limited in the mine and has great benefits for coal mine safety production. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2012.

Advances in embedded systems and mobile communication have led to the emergence of smaller, cheaper, and more intelligent sensing units. As of today, these devices have been used in many sensor network applications focused at monitoring environmental parameters in areas with relative large geographical extent. However, in many of these applications, management is often centralized and hierarchical. This approach imposes some major challenges in the context of large-scale and highly distributed sensor networks. In this paper, we present a multilayered, middleware platform for sensor networks offering transparent data aggregation, control, and management mechanisms to the application developer. Furthermore, we propose the use of multiagent systems (MASs) to create a computing environment capable of managing and optimizing tasks autonomously. In order to ensure the scalability of the distributed data fusion, we propose a three-step procedure to balance the workload among machines using mobile agent technology.

Under technological advancement, technology allows human life to be more convenient and safer. This study used LabView as the system development software and the computer on the server side, to develop an intelligent distributed monitoring system for monitoring household electronic appliances. Besides controlling the server-end, network and GSM system were used to construct remote control and monitoring capabilities. The communication between the server end and each control end was through ZigBee, thus achieving a wireless network.

This paper presents a new approach of an integrated distributed monitoring system for an autonomous unmanned helicopter. The navigation mission consists of reaching areas of interest on a path composed of specific waypoints. The task of such a monitoring system is to determine whether the helicopter behaves as intended in order to detect faults in the mission execution early and to enable a re-planning of the mission or a failure recovery in due time. This is a very important issue for autonomous systems as they have to cope not only with ordinary subsystems failures, but also with unexpected situations which make the mission goals unattainable. The approach uses a special combination of Petri Nets and Monte Carlo Methods (particle filter) and integrates different layers of the system architecture such as control actions (path-planning, low-level control), environment perception (vision-based recognition of landmarks), state observation (estimation of speed, position, attitude) and decision making (mission planning and re-planning) in a unified model.

Spatially distributed sensors, which communicate wirelessly form a wireless sensor network (WSN). This network monitors physical or environmental conditions. A central gateway, called high energy communication node, collects data from all sensors and sends them to the central computer where they are processed. We need to minimize the number of sensors and energy consumption of the network, when the terrain is fully covered. We convert the problem from multi-objective to mono-objective. The new objective function is a linear combination between the number of sensors and network energy. We propose Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm to solve the problem. We compare our results with the state-of-the-art in the literature.
