Adsorption of humic acid (HA) and Cu(II) onto cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB) modified zeolite was investigated in single- and binary-adsorbate systems. The equilibrium adsorption data of HA and Cu(II) onto CPB modified zeolite in the single-adsorbate system were analyzed by the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The equilibrium adsorption data were well described by the Langmuir isotherm model, and the predicted maximum monolayer adsorption capacities for HA and Cu(II) at pH 6.0 and temperature 298K were 292 mg/g and 13.3 mg/g, respectively. The pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models were applied to describe the kinetic adsorption data in the single-adsorbate system. The experimental data fitted well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The presence of HA enhanced Cu(II) adsorption onto CPB modified zeolite. Similarly, the presence of Cu(II) enhanced HA adsorption onto CPB modified zeolite. Results of this work indicate that CPB modified zeolite is apromising adsorbent for simultaneous removal of HA and Cu(II)from aqueous solution. © 2011 IEEE.

Molar reaction Gibbs function change, molar reaction enthalpy change, equilibrium constant and the equilibrium partial pressure of SO2 and NO for the reaction of simultaneous removal of SO2and NO by using NaClO/ammonia solution were calculated based on the principle of chemical thermodynamics. As can be seen from the results, simultaneous removal of SO 2 and NO by using NaClO/ ammonia solution is available. © 2011 IEEE.

The multiphase PM synchronous motor drive systems have been developed rapidly in modern industry and agriculture. In this paper, an adaptive nonlinear control design is applied to a multiphase PM synchronous motor system. Based on the deduced mathematic model with both electrical and mechanical dynamics of motor, the backstepping and fuzzy neural network control schemes are used to design the speed controller due to the nonlinear characteristics of multiphase motor drive. The proposed control scheme is proved with Lyapunov stability theory by recursive manner, and its effectiveness is verified by simulation results at different operating conditions. Compared to the conventional PI speed controller, the developed adaptive nonlinear speed controller is robust to the uncertainties. © 2011 IEEE.

It is established that a fast, sensitive exonuclease protection fluorescent quantitative PCR assay for detection of nonylphenol. Different concentrations of nonylphenol can combine with estrogen receptors extracted from goldfish liver and synthetic DNA with specific primer to format the complexes which are used as templates for fluorescence quantitative PCR. Using linear regression analysis with quantitative DNA standard curve and Ct and the curve of nonylphenol concentration, it is found that the relationship between nonylphenol concentration and the starting copy number of DNA concentration which can be used to detect nonylphenol. This method can achieve the minimum detection limit of 3.33ng/L with high sensitivity, it can be used as a rapid detection method for nonylphenol. © 2011 IEEE.

Water mass balance is the necessary requirement of a numerical model of PEM fuel cell. Available model cannot enforce the water mass balance at the condition that one component is consumed in fully humidified gas such as in catalyst layer of PEMFC. The reason is that the couple between the equations solved is too weak. To enforce the water mass balance at the condition above mentioned, this paper provides a new model to describe the water transfer between two phases in catalyst layer of PEM fuel cell. © 2011 IEEE.

With the rapid development of science and technology, energy shortage cannot be ignored and energy conservation and emission reduction has been paid worldwide attention. As an important technology of building energy efficiency, natural ventilation can not only meet the room comfort index, save the equipments and running costs, but also create sustainable development of green building environment Based on the typical residential building, corresponding model is established by the computational fluid dynamics software called Airpak. Through numerical simulation under the different conditions of ventilation environment, we discuss the important role of natural ventilation in building energy-saving field and improving indoor air quality, and give related suggestions for building energy-saving, environmental protection and safety of living environment. © 2011 IEEE.

Cotton area and growth information are important basis for cotton production and management. This article took Dingzhuang Town in Guangrao County of Shandong Province as the study area and chose CBERS01 and HJ1B satellite images as the information source. Selecting similar phases with obvious cotton information, the area of cotton was acquired by decision tree classification model according to spectrum characteristics of typical objects after pre-processing. Regular changes of vegetation index and cotton growth condition in spatial and time were analyzed according to four different time remote sensing images of cotton growing season in *** results showed that the extraction accuracy of cotton area was over 90%. In the past 10 years, cotton planting area increased 7529.4 hm2. With the growing of cotton in every period, the growth information of cotton showed different spatial and time distribution regularities. monitoring results were consistent with surveyed cotton yield. This study manifested that the method can timely achieve and dynamically monitor the cotton area and growth information at small-scale. It can also provide basis for early prediction of cotton production. This research has positive significance to improve the levels of cotton cultural production and management. © 2011 IEEE.

Carbon blacks are the most widely used reinforcing fillers. The raw material of carbon black manufacture depends on petroleum industry to a great extent. Reclamation of used tires is to be enormously significant as oil will be used up in the near future. Pyrolytic carbon black (PCB) is one of the most important products from the pyrolysis of scrap tires. One of the most essential applications for modified PCB is to reinforce the rubber matrix to obtain extra values. High inorganic ash content and a large amount of carbonaceous deposits on the surface of PCB confirmed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) are the two main barriers for PCB further application. Adsorption layer with an adequately thick could not be formed on the surface of PCB because of the lack of effective active sites. Techniques for PCB modification have been developed. The rubber vulcanization and reinforcement properties of pyrolytic and modified carbon black were investigated and compared with those of commercial carbon black. The crosslink structure, relaxation and self-diffusion properties were investigated by solid-state high resolution nuclear magnetic resonance respectively. Demineralization and modification with NDZ- 105 titanate coupling agent not only intensify the interactions between carbon black and the neighboring polyisoprene chains, but also increase the chemical cross-link density of the vulcanized rubber with TWPC. TWPC could be used to replace the commercial semi-reinforcing carbon black. © 2011 IEEE.

The alkaline wastewater from oil refinery is a high concentration alkaline wastewater, which contains a great deal of sulfide, phenol and oil pollutants. A novel two stage circulating biological aerated filter (CBAF) was used to treat the alkaline wastewater after its neutralization. The factors of various air/water volumetric ratio, hydraulic retention time (HRT), which affected the removal of COD, sulfide, phenol and oil pollutants were investigated. The experimental results show that, when the wastewater feed flow rate is 0.5 m 3·h-1, the air/water volumetric ratio is 24:1 with the HRT of 4 h for single CBAF reactor, the influent average concentrations of COD, sulfide, phenol and oil pollutants are 1371, 234, 181 and 81.4 mg·L-1, respectively. After two stage CBAF reactor treatment, the total average removal rates of COD, sulfide, phenol and oil pollutants are 72.0, 98.8, 79.6 and 85.2 %, respectively. And the average effluent concentration of COD, sulfide, phenol and oil pollutants are 384, 2.90, 37.0 and 12.0 mg L-1, respectively. The results demonstrate that the CBAF reactor is a kind of high efficiency and low cost treatment technique which has a good application foreground for the treatment of the alkaline wastewater from oil refinery. © 2011 IEEE.
