The authors theoretically studied the entropy generation during heat transfer of a pin fin array in channels with lateral ejection holes for a turbine blade. The entropy generation model was established based on the second-law analysis. The distribution of the entropy generation due to heat transfer and fluid friction irreversibility respectively was analyzed and a comparison was made for three typical short pin fin channels. The entropy generation number component due to heat transfer decreases while Red increases, while the component due to fluid friction increases with the increase of Red. The entropy generation number takes its minimum value when the two components meet and the corresponding Reynolds number is optimal. The ejection holes influence the energy lost of the working fluid. For the three cases studied in the paper, case b with short ejection holes gives the best comprehensive thermal performance with comparison to cases with no and long ejection holes. The results would be helpful for the design of the heat dissipation of pin fin heat exchangers. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper is devoted to study wind environment in a dense urban areas from the ventilation perspective. In order to take the stochastic characteristics of city wind into consideration, the exceedance probability analysis method was applied using air change rate as the index. The air change rate in the target domain was first obtained using CFD simulation for 16 wind directions and each building pattern. The CFD results demonstrated that airflow fields in the target domain were complicated and the air change rates depends greatly on wind direction. However, there is no direct correlation between street width and air change rate. The exceedance probability distributions were further calculated using the wind statistical data in Tokyo and used to analysis the influences of model orientation and street width. The results indicated that both factors affects the ventilation performance in the target domain significantly. The proposed evaluating approach is useful and effective for the urban ventilation design. © 2011 IEEE.

The research studied enhanced treatment of sewage from discharging points of rivers by biofilm process dosing with enzyme and the effect of phenol on removal rates of the main pollution indexes, and investigated promotion effect of enzyme (including the laboratory developed compounded enzyme and the foreign composite enzyme) on treatment of sewage by biofilm process. The research results indicated that when initial concentration of phenol was 1mg/L, the removal rate of phenol in three reactors was above 97%, and phenol had no negative effect on the removal rates of CODCr and ammonia nitrogen, which indicated that phenol (1mg/L) had no poisonous effects on microorganisms. Moreover, enzyme had good promotion effect on biofilm process during the sewage treatment process. © 2011 IEEE.

Use optimized indigenous microbial flora biotechnology to conduct repair experimental research on oil-contaminated groundwater in loess area of north Shaanxi. The selected optimized flora include Pseudomonas, Micrococcus, Actinomayces, Penicillium, Aspergillus, During experiment process, add 1.5%'s optimized flora preparation into the polluted waters with oil content of 182.0mg / 862.5mg / 1 and 1695.0mg / L After some days' remediation experiments, the maximum cumulative removal rates of oil pollutants in the three concentrations are 53.46% (28d), 70.87% (37d) and 58.19% (37d);temperature is one of the remediation affecting factors and 30°C is the best flora growth temperature, with the most significant remediation effect on oil-contaminated groundwater;concentration is another important factor influencing oil pollutants;in sterile contrast experiment, the removal rate of oil pollutants is within 5%, indicating slow groundwater oil degradation speed in natural conditions. © 2011 IEEE.

Groundwater is the source of main agricultural, industrial and domestic water in the Alluvial Plain of Hutuo River, the pollution degree of groundwater directly affects habitants' state of health in the area. In order to explain the condition of shallow groundwater organic pollution under the influence of human activities, the Alluvial Plain of Hutuo River was selected as the main study area, and then by a large amount of groundwater sampling, analysis and test,we analyzed the characteristics of shallow groundwater organic pollution. The results show that shallow groundwater has been under threat of organic pollution in the area, the main detected organic components are halogenated hydrocarbons, poly-aromatics and chlorobenzenes, among which the detection rate of trichloromethane amounts to 14.02%;Over-standard organics samples are sparse, but the over-standard concentrations are high, the main over-standard component is tetrachloromethane. Because of the high toxicity of organics, organic pollution has become unable to be neglected in the study area. © 2011 IEEE.

Adsorption properties of Fe(II) and Mn(II) by palygorskite were investigated using a batch adsorption, and the effects of contact time, roasting temperature and acid concentration for activation on adsorption removal of Fe(II) and Mn(II) were studied. Results showed that the adsorption sites of palygorskite were well exposed to both kinds of metal ions, and the equilibrium adsorption was reached within a very short period. Adsorption of Fe(II) followed the Langmuir isotherm model fairly well, while adsorption of Mn(II) fitted the Freundlich isotherm model fairly well. Mercury porosimeter analysis indicated that heat-treatment at 500 °C resulted in degradation of channel structure and adsorption capacity loss of *** increasing HCl concentration of acid treating solution, adsorption capacities for Fe(II) and Mn(II) decreased firstly and then increased, the minimum was obtained at 5 mol/l and 4 mol/l of HCl concentration for Fe(II) and Mn(II) respectively. © 2011 IEEE.

To study the influence of coarse particle addition on solids distribution of circulating fluidized bed (CFB), some experiments has been done on a 0.25m×0.25m×6.07m square circulating fluidized bed in this paper. The axial pressure drop, local solids holdup and coarse particle fraction in the CFB system was measured and analyzed. Experimental results show that the pressure drop increases with the increasing of initial coarse particle fraction (Xc0) no matter with or without airstaging. Comparatively, the pressure drop is larger for the case with air-staging. With same initial coarse particle fraction Xc0, the coarse particle fraction is larger in the bottom bed but smaller in the upper bed and external circulating system when air-staging is adopted. © 2011 IEEE.

The conditions for the preparation of activated carbon(AC) from corn cob(CC) treated with NaHCO3 using microwave radiation were optimized through response surface methodology (RSM) and central composite design (CCD).The effects of the radiation power, radiation time, and impregnation ratio were studied from the adsorption capacity on methylene blue dye(MB), and yield results. From the analysis of variance (ANOVA), the most influential factor on each experimental design response was identified. The predicted MB adsorption capacity and yield after process optimization was found to agree satisfactory with the experimental values. The optimum conditions for preparing AC from CC were found as follows: radiation power of 572W, radiation time of 5 min and impregnation ratio of 3.18. The predicted and experimental results for the adsorption capacity on MB and yield of AC were 263mg/g 24.9% and 251 mg/g, 26.2%, respectively. © 2011 IEEE.

With the great development of auto-mobile industry and road system, the pollution of automobile exhaust becomes more and more serious, also mercury pollution. Burning mercury-rich fuel oil was thought the essence of pollution source. It's found that elemental mercury (HgO), divalent reactive gaseous mercury (RGM), and particulate mercury (Hg (p)) from gasoline. The content of mercury is LPG > gasoline > diesel fuel. The forming condition of oil-gas field was obviously similar to mercury ore site, and thus assessment of oil-gas field their mercury contents should be measured. The study of seven road sections of Guilin demonstrated that there are obvious mercury pollution in atmosphere, soil and plants. © 2011 IEEE.

Existing problems of traditional air source variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air-conditioning system are analyzed. The disadvantages of traditional VRF air-conditioning system are described in detail: 1) its properties are seriously affected by outdoor temperature. 2) The system has lower cooling capacity and coefficient of performance with an expansion of the scale. 3) It is not convenient to install outdoor units for many actual projects. Based on the analysis of these disadvantages, water loop variable refrigerant flow (WLVRF) integrated air-conditioning system is introduced. Its schematic and characteristics are narrated. The running conditions and coefficient of WLVRF system in Shenyang, Beijing and Jinan are simulated taking a high-rise office building as a sample. The result shows that WLVRF system satisfies high-rise building in cold climate well, and it can operate securely and efficiently. © 2011 IEEE.
