Energy-efficient renovation has been accepted widely as the best solution for upgrading existing residential buildings. In order to guide such real projects in China and maximize the benefits in energy, environmental and economic fields from the activities, in this article a methodology is developed for decision-makers to assist the design of energy-efficient renovation plan in the early stage of design phase. Following the methodology, a suitable energy-efficient renovation plan, integrating all effective and available energy-saving measures and as well as excluding all useless and/or unfeasible ones, is put forward for subject building and its effects on the reduction of energy use, CO 2 emission and cost are evaluated accurately.

An alternative method using the ground heat exchanger to provide cooling water for a solar-driven CACS is proposed with the aim to improve the performance. Using a mathematical model developed in this study, theoretical analyses are carried out to investigate the performance of the combined system. The results show that with an additional compressor, the system can be driven by 50°C hot water, and the pressure ratio has obviously effect on the cooling capacity. These make the system can operate with the flat-plate solar collectors and fit for variable cooling demands. The effects of driving temperature on the system performance are also investigated.

The effect of trace NO2 on anaerobic ammonium oxidation, methanogenesis and denitrification in separate system was investigated by batch experiment. Trace NO2 apparently enhanced the anaerobic ammonium oxidation, the function for NO2 apparently to enhance ammonium oxidation was suggested using the Haldane based model. The parameters were estimated, where the half saturate coefficient of NO2 was 2.570 mg/L, inhibition coefficient of NO2 was 0.0039 mg/L, the maximum enhanced rate coefficient was 48.79, the basic rate coefficient was *** effect of NO2 on methanogenesis and denitrification kinetics could be described using uncompetitive inhibition model. The maximum COD removal rate, half saturation constant of organic substance and NO2 inhibition coefficient in methanogenesis were 0.149 mgCOD (mgVSS h) -1, 396mgCOD/L and 0.231 mg NO2 /L, respectively. The parameters were estimated, where the half saturate coefficient of NO2 was 1.96 mg/L, inhibition coefficient of NO2 was 0.0082 mg/L, the maximum enhanced rate coefficient was 30.55, the basic rate coefficient was 0.0314. The developing trend of composting research is to meet the need of rapid fermentation of MSW which has high water and organic material content. Based on the introduction of the working principle of oil-free scroll air compressor, the hardware and software design of the electronic control system was given with a core of enhanced 51 SCM. Introduced the temperature sensor net made up of DS18B20, the realization of the AC signal acquisition method using a current transformer, and the man-machine interface consists of the digital tube array assembled by the 74LS595 and the independent type keys. The program of the electronic control system employs the work style of cyclical scan, which was developed by the C language in the Keil platform. The test results showed that the installed electronic control system can be operated reliably and trouble-free work continuously.

The advanced treatment of secondary biochemical effluent from iron and steel wastewater was treated by a Continuous Membrane Filtration (CMF)system, and the related water quality and system operation parameters in treatment process was monitored and analysed. The results of experiment showed that CMF has high efficiency and stable running during the long treatment process and has a good effect on removing of COD, NTU, SS and so on, it could be used for the pretreatment process of reverse osmosis and the quality of the treated water was stable. The technology will have extensively applied in advanced treatment and reuse of iron and steel wastewater.

This paper presented the necessary of the biomass briquette technologies in the north rural areas of China. The biomass briquette technology can be used as a pretreatment technology for the other high-efficient using straw technology, especially for the direct combustion technology. Biomass briquette has obvious advantages such as good combustion characteristics, convenience of storage and transportation. So the biomass briquette technology has broad prospects for development in north rural areas of China. The biomass briquette machine technology has gained much progress. The biomass briquette technologies are getting mature and can be promoted for engineering application in near future. And the further research is needed to reduce energy consumption and increase production rates.

This study reported the feasibility of flushing remediation of lead (Pb) contaminated soil using thiacalix[4]arenetetrasulfonate (TCAS) reagent. Batch experiments were performed to test the factors influencing remediation of lead (Pb) contaminated soil. The effects of pH value, initial conentration and contact time on the removal capacities of lead (Pb) by TCAS reagent had been studied. The results showed that the TCAS reagent was effective for removal of lead (Pb) from the contaminated soil, the optimum TCAS concentration is 0.7% for soil treatment, attaining 93.2% of lead (Pb) in the pH range of 11.0 within 24h.
