This paper presents life cycle fossil primary energy consumption (FPEC) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity of nine types of dominant secondary energy (SE) in China in 2008. Three major types of GHG (CO 2 , CH 4 and N 2 O) are considered for GHG emissions intensity and then on-combustion CH 4 leakage during the feedstock production sub-stage is included. It is found that: (1) the life cycle FPEC intensities of crude coal, crude NG, crude oil, coal, NG, diesel, gasoline, residual oil and electricity are 1.055, 1.155, 1.167, 1.172, 1.161, 1.302, 1.343, 1.220 and 2.924 MJ per MJ SE obtained and utilized, respectively, (2) their life cycle GHG emissions intensities are 100.5, 68.6, 89.2, 104.5, 72.7, 102.4, 98.9, 102.9 and 289.6 when the direct GHG emissions are included. The life cycle intensities of both FPEC and GHG emissions for SE in China are higher than those in the developed world (even the world average) and the main reasons include the relatively low energy efficiencies and the high CH 4 leakage levels during feedstock extraction.

For the surficial sediments sampled from the Shaxi River in Sanming, Fujian Province, China, the distribution and fraction of heavy metal zinc in surficial sediments were researched. The microwave digestion result showed that the concentration of zincin surficial sediments ranged from 568 mg/kg to 2126 mg/kg. The results of modified BCR sequential extraction procedure showed that heavy metal zinc in the surficial sediment was mainly associated with residual and acid soluble fractions. The fractions of zinc sampled near the drain were in the order of residual >; acid soluble >; oxidizable >; reducible >; water soluble fraction, and in the order of residual >; reducible >; acid soluble >; oxidizable >;>;water soluble fraction in samples away from the drain. The results indicated that the concentration and fraction of pollutant zinc were significantly correlative to the drain of some iron and steel factory around the Shaxi River, which varied obviously with the downstream distance increasing to the drain. The acid soluble and oxidizable fractions decreased with the downstream distance increasing to the drain of iron and steel factory, however, the residual and reducible fractions increased with the distance increasing.

This paper designs and implements an intelligent ubiquitous sensor network architecture for agricultural and livestock farms which embrace a variety of sensors and create a great volume of sensor data records. For the sake of efficiently and accurately detecting the specific events out of the great amount of sensor data which may include not just erroneous terms but also correlative attributes, the middleware module embeds an empirical event patterns and knowledge description. For the filtered data, data mining module opens an interface to define the relationship between the environmental aspect and facility control equipments, set the control action trigger condition, and integrate new event detection logic. Finally, the remote user interface for monitoring and control is implemented by on Microsoft Windows, Web, and mobile device applications.

Surveys has been developed for the quality of the soil environment in the vegetable plot, choosing some vegetable bases in Chengdu's suburb- Pengzhou as the study area. In order to analyze the changing trend of soil environmental quality in the suburban vegetable base, comparisons from the soil pH, soil nutrient composition, soil heavy metals to pesticide residues have been made with the previous results which were published in the Second National Soil Survey in 1984. The results show that compared with 1984, nowadays (2009) the soil pH is significantly declined and the soil (pH ≤ 6.0) accounts is nearly as much as 82.35% of all the soil studied in Pengzhou; as for the nutrient content, total nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, available phosphorus and potassium in the pick-up soil have been improved respectively, while the organic matter content has been lowered obviously; in the heavy metal content survey, almost all the kinds of metal involved here are increased except Hg. The conclusion can be made: in recent 25 years, the soil environmental quality of the vegetable base in Pengzhou is overall becoming worse and worse.

An novel technology of CO 2 capture from coal-fired flue gas is Ammonia chemical adsorption method. Experimental system of CO 2 adsorption by ammonia water is established on the base of a bubble column reactor in this paper. Effects of key parameters on CO 2 adsorption process, such as ammonia water concentrations, PH values of solutions, C/N molar ratios, amounts of water brought by gas, are studied through the system. From the analysis of experimental results, it indicates that, utilization rate of high concentration ammonia water is low, and escape rate is high, but CO 2 removal efficiency is high. On the other hand, utilization rate of low concentration ammonia water is high, and escape rate is low, but CO 2 removal efficiency is low. In CO 2 capture process, the PH of solution decreases dramatically. When the reaction solution invalids, PH values of different solutions are close to 8.7. When the absorbent PH is lower than 8.7, it has no capacity to absorb CO 2 . The mass ratio of carbon capture capacity by ammonia method is much higher than that by MEA, and the mass ratio of carbon capture capacity by low concentration ammonia water is higher.

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were carried out at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level for all polychlorinateddibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs). Mulliken atomic charge on chlorine atom (Q Cl(n) ) and molecular total energy (E T ) were adopted as the theoretical indicators of the dechlorination reaction activity. The hypothesis was that the preferred reaction pathways would either yield dominant daughter products having the lowest ET, or occur in the substituted chlorine atom having the largest Q Cl(n) . The predicted pathways were validated with literature data on the biotic dechlorination of 1,2,3,4-TCDD and the biotic reductive dechlorination pathways for 1,2,3,4-TCDD, 1,2,3,7,8-PeCDD,1,2,3,4,7,8-HxCDF. Results showed the a biotic reactions with zero-valent zinc and biotic transformations by Dehalococcoidessp. strain CBDB1 followed the pathways eliminating chlorine atom having the largest Q Cl(n) , but the biotic transformations by Dehalococcoides ethenogenes strain 195 followed the pathways that favored the lowest E T products.

Soil water is the basic condition of crop living. Soil water evaporation is not only main foundation of the management for water but also have an important effect on the regulation for temperature, humidity, environment and energy consumption in the greenhouse. Soil water even affect crop yields, qualities, and economy benefit of crop production. This paper analyzed main environment factors caused affecting soil water evaporation in greenhouse according to characteristic of microclimate in north China. BP neural network model were established based on mutual Influence between the environment factors and soil water evaporation. The verification of the model was made by measured soil water evaporation. This result showed the made model had better forecasting effects and the way that the made model could forecast soil water evaporation changes with neural network. The model provided a theoretical basis for the north of China's control of the modern greenhouse environment, fertilizer irrigation management and automatic irrigation.

The authors theoretically studied the entropy generation during heat transfer of a pin fin array in channels with lateral ejection holes for a turbine blade. The entropy generation model was established based on the second-law analysis. The distribution of the entropy generation due to heat transfer and fluid friction irreversibility respectively was analyzed and a comparison was made for three typical short pin fin channels. The entropy generation number component due to heat transfer decreases while Red increases, while the component due to fluid friction increases with the increase of Red. The entropy generation number takes its minimum value when the two components meet and the corresponding Reynolds number is optimal. The ejection holes influence the energy lost of the working fluid. For the three cases studied in the paper, case b with short ejection holes gives the best comprehensive thermal performance with comparison to cases with no and long ejection holes. The results would be helpful for the design of the heat dissipation of pin fin heat exchangers.

Adsorption properties of Fe(II) and Mn(II) by palygorskite were investigated using a batch adsorption, and the effects of contact time, roasting temperature and acid concentration for activation on adsorption removal of Fe(II) and Mn(II) were studied. Results showed that the adsorption sites of palygorskite were well exposed to both kinds of metal ions, and the equilibrium adsorption was reached within a very short period. Adsorption of Fe(II) followed the Langmuir isotherm model fairly well, while adsorption of Mn(II) fitted the Freundlich isotherm model fairly well. Mercury porosimeter analysis indicated that heat-treatment at 500°C resulted in degradation of channel structure and adsorption capacity loss of *** increasing HCl concentration of acid treating solution, adsorption capacities for Fe(II) and Mn(II) decreased firstly and then increased, the minimum was obtained at 5 mol/1 and 4 mol/1 of HCl concentration for Fe(II) and Mn(II) respectively.

Influence of soil organic matter (SOM) on the adsorption, desorption and transport of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) has already been given full investigation in soils. In this paper, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) was used to detected and elucidate aqueous leaching of PAHs in different types of soil with soil columns, which enhanced understanding on transport of PAHs appreciably. Four typical soils in China including fluvo-aquic soil (FAS), aquic brown soil (ABS), red soil (RS) and black soil (BS) were selected in the experiment. Target pollutants of phenanthrene and pyrene were extracted from the leachate by solid phase extraction (SPE) and then determined HPLC. The experimental results showed that the retardation ability of pollutants to the four selected types of soil increased in the order: FAS ≈ ABS oc) were evaluated based on the observed breakthrough curves (BTCs). All the results provided vivid understanding with mathematical and especially optical measures that SOM was considered the single most important factor limiting the availability and mobility of PAHs in soil over the duration of the experiment.
