Sanchi is a rare and unique Chinese medical material with extremely high medical value. However, it is often vulnerable to root rot during factitious reproduction. A research, taking Sanchi no-tillage soil and root rot plants as study targets with the purpose to monitor the amounts of microbe colonies and strains in soil around Sanchi roots, has been carried out. The result showed that, although the soil temperature could change the amount of bacteria, fungi, actinomyces and microzyme in soil around Sanchi roots, it had no statistic correlation with the amount of these strains. The occurrence of Sanchi root rot was not only owing to the reported pseudomonas, but also to anaerobic bacteria, fungi and actinomyces which were also the major pathogens leading to Sanchi root rot. What's more, anaerobic bacteria were the primary strain causing Sanchi root rot. For a healthy Sanchi plant, the microbe amount in soil around its roots was close to this proportion: fungus: actinomyce: bacteria = 1: 1.12: 67.90 E2. Once the plant was affected by root rot, the amount of microzyme would change. There was a linear relation existing between the occurrence of root rot and the amount of microzyme. The discovery of major pathogens leading to Sanchi root rot and the normal proportion of microbe amount in rhizosphere soil of Sanchi provided a scientific basis for the application of technologies for the treatment of root rot diseases.

Study was made on stability and influencing factors of nitrite accumulation in Biological Aerated Filter (BAF) treating simulated municipal wastewater. The possibility of shortcut nitrification-denitrification in low ammonia wastewater treatment was discussed. The mode of natural start-up was favorable to the nitrite accumulation in BAF and the highest nitrite accumulation rate was over 80%. By adjusting pH, nitrite accumulation can take place in BAF. When the influent pH value was 6.5 to 7, the highest nitrite accumulation rate was 57%. But long-term stable nitrite accumulation cannot be obtained only through changing influent pH value. The lower concentration of DO was of advantage to the formation of the nitrite accumulation. When the concentration of DO was controlled to less than 0.5 mg/L, the nitrite accumulation rate can improved significantly to the maximum over 80%. The increasing of hydraulic loading can contribute to nitrite accumulation. When the hydraulic loading was enhanced to 10 m 3 /(m 2 ·h) , the average nitrite accumulation rate can be increased by 52.5 times. The increasing of influent ammonia loading cannot improve nitrite accumulation notably. When influent pH was 6.5 to 7, concentration of DO was 1.0 to 1.5 and the filtration rate was 5 m/h, the nitrite accumulation of BAF reactor was of good stability. During 60 days' running, the nitrite accumulation can keep at 65% to 75% stably and obvious shortcut nitrification-denitrification was found.

Removal of Cu 2+ , Cd 2+ , Pb 2+ and Zn 2+ in wastewater was investigated using steel slag as a treatment material, and then mechanism of removal was discussed according to main crystalline phases in steel slag and Zeta potential of steel slag. The results showed the steel slag was a very suitable multi-functional material for the treatment of wastewater containing Zn 2+ , Cu 2+ , Cd 2+ and Pb 2+ . Under treatment conditions of the slag size of -1.0+0.5mm, slag usage of 30 g/L and stirring speed of 150rpm, initial wastewater pH value 3, reaction time of 30 min, the removal rate of Zn 2+ , Cu 2+ , Cd 2+ and Pb 2+ were 99.24%, 99.08%, 98.75% and 98.73%, respectively. The residual concentration of Zn 2+ , Cu 2+ , Cd 2+ and Pb 2+ were reduced to 0.19mg/L, 0.23mg/L, 032mg/L and 0.32mg/L from 25 mg/L concentration each in multi-metal wastewater respectively, meeting the requirements of GB 8978-1996 " Integrated wastewater discharge standard". Precipitation and adsorption were considered to be two important contributions for the removal of Cu 2+ , Cd 2+ , Pb 2+ and Zn 2+ in multi-metal wastewater using steel slag particles.

The continuous evolution of computing and networking technologies (e.g., Moore's Law) is creating a new world populated by many sensors on physical and social environments. This emerging new world goes much further than the original visions of ubiquitous computing and World Wide Web. Aspects of this new world have received various names such as Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) and Internet of Things (IOT). CPS links many physical sensor data to detailed simulation models running on large data centers. IOT brings together many appliances, making much more environmental data available and supporting control of these appliances. CPS/IOT applications are many, including personalized healthcare, intelligent transportation, smart grid, sustainable environment, and disaster recovery as representative examples. These CPS/IOT applications are motivated and strongly pushed by significant new social, economic, and human benefits. At the same time, these applications are also mission-critical with serious quality of service requirements such as real-time performance, continuous availability, high security and privacy. We will argue that the traditional process-oriented programming languages and software architectures should be augmented by distributed event-based facilities and abstractions for the construction of large scale distributed CPS/IOT applications. In addition to the focus on performance, we anticipate that other quality of service dimensions such as availability, reliability, security, and privacy will become important concerns in the research on distributed event-based systems. We will discuss research opportunities and challenges that bring the distributed event-based systems technology to CPS/IOT applications. © 2011 Author.

Automation methods for huge amount of computations in grid environment and their applications in Ukrainian National Grid (UNG) are described. Proposed methods are based on asynchronous job submission and control. Methods has solved the problems of job data staging in, description preparing, job submission, job status monitoring and staging out results. Methods are implemented for building integrated environment for investigations in neuroscience. Running thousands non-interacting jobs with different input data sets primarily suitable for grid computing. Using portal web-interface, you can handle those thousands of jobs in "one-click". The first application results in neuroscience are obtained. Simulations covers Kuramoto phenomeno-logical phase oscillators model and Hodgkin-Huxley-Katz realistic neurons model. Proposed integrated environment can be extended to solve other scientific problems. © 2011 IEEE.

As P2P traffic now constitutes a substantial proportion of Internet traffic, ISPs are facing new challenge in network management. Instead of blindly limiting P2P traffic, ISPs should provide the basic networking service for P2P users while minimizing the traffic overhead over the infrastructure. On the other hand, illegal sharing of copyrighted and malicious materials with P2P applications introduces a serious security issue, which motives the need of knowing what contents are really transferred in P2P applications. This paper presents MORSE, a system that enables ISPs to accurately identify and effectively control P2P traffic, as well as, revert transferred contents if needed. Specifically, in terms of traffic control, MORSE leverages file-level information provided by a P2P traffic identification method to adopt an efficient and flexible strategy: limiting the number of concurrent flows that a peer can use to download a particular file. In terms of content reverting, besides traditional flow reconstruction method, MORSE offers an indirect way that uses the file ID information. At last, a real-life trace is measured in MORSE and promising results are obtained. © 2011 IEEE.

environmental monitoring is one of the most classic applications of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). Itaipu hydroelectric dam creates a unique scenario for the development of this type of WSN with more than 200 square kilometers of natural forests. In this context, FLORA project is aimed at developing a habitat monitoring WSN to be deployed in the Zoo of Itaipu and in the Tati Yupi Biological Refuge. The deployment includes more that 50 nodes. The paper describes the two scenarios of this ambitious and challenging application and presents the routing and topology control protocol developed in the framework of FLORA. The protocol was designed to fulfil the requirements of the application, extend the lifetime of the network, and to adapt to continuous nodes deployment and potential failures. It is based in several protocols already reported in the literature. The novel proposal is a reliable and lightweight routing protocol for wireless sensor network based on vector distance, collection tree, and energy aware distance vector protocols. The main idea is that each node of the network finds the shortest path to the sink with the best link quality in order to guarantee the delivery of data to the sink despite the dynamic and lossy nature of wireless transmissions. The functionality of this novel protocol is presented as well as the results based on a TinyOS implementation and traditional WSN nodes (motes) including a CC2420 radio. © 2011 IEEE.
