The world trend is that the monitoring, intelligentcontrol and systematic management to the instruments and equipments are integrated both on bridge and in engine room in ship automation. The design scheme of the ship integrated monitoring and operating system based on two layers distributed and redundant computer network was presented in this paper. The distributed schemes are fully applied to both software and hardware. The composition, software distribution and redundant technology in the upper local network were described, some important sample codes was given to prove the design and can be realized. The growth of the electricity distribution networks and increasing application of distributed generators, has led to complexity of monitoring of automation process and possibility of making wrong decisions in operation of these networks. Hence, a system that can be housed in energy control centers to assist distribution network operators in diagnosing cases of failure diagnosis sounds necessary. Regarding this, our study employs Petri net modeling to provide a model of automation system on a distribution network that can be implemented in the monitoring system of distribution networks control centers, and using the information received at these centers, to monitor various stages of automation process, detect faulted sections, and also, to inform the operator about the incorrect states in a real time manner. Therefore, the proposed model reduces incorrect outages and increases reliability of distribution networks by informing the operator and assisting him to decide correctly.

In this paper, instead of using commercial platform ZigBee we build a green-energy intelligent indoor surveillance system by utilizing our developed wireless platform which complies with the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. Three kinds of sensors are considered to be deployed for the monitoring of the environmental conditions such as temperature, vibration and object movement. Those sensing data will then be locally analyzed to control appliance and wirelessly transmitted to a central computer for remote monitoring. Experimental results demonstrate the success of the proposed design.

Current process automation solutions have a limited capability concerning agile adaptation in a dynamic environment as well as in the case of unexpected internal and external disturbances. distributedintelligentcontrol systems based on agent technologies are seen as a promising approach to handle the dynamics in large complex systems. In this paper, we present a multi-agent system architecture capable to answer to the major requirements in the process domain. The architecture is based on agents with diverse responsibilities and tasks and additionally separates the control software of agents controlling hardware components into two levels, the high level control and the low level control. Our system architecture has also the ability to flexibly reschedule allocated jobs in the case of resource breakdowns in order to minimize downtimes and resulting costs. The system is currently tested and evaluated in the Odo Struger Laboratory at the Automation and control Institute.

Wireless Sensor Networks are event based systems that consists of a collection of autonomous sensor nodes that are spatially distributed and cooperatively monitor physical and environmental conditions. When an event has been detected these sensor nodes become active in transmitting the information and the load becomes heavy, increasing the data traffic and this might lead to congestion that results in packet drops, throughput reduction and degradation of channel quality which in turn decrease network performance. A congestion control scheme is necessary to monitor and regulate the traffic levels at an acceptable value. This paper review various existing works used for detecting and controlling congestion. Different performance metrics that are used for measuring congestion was also surveyed. Finally a comparison of various performance measures was presented.

Aimed at the current status and existing problems of safety monitoring of domestic coal mines, a computer-controlled coal mine safety monitoring system is proposed. The integrated system is composed of three subsystems: monitoring, communication and control subsystems. monitoring subsystem is composed of gas, wind speed, negative pressure, temperature etc sensors, which are distributed in the mine and used to carry out real-time monitoring. The communication subsystem consists of Coordinators, Routers and End node and performs wireless communication. These two subsystems establish contact with the central controlcomputer located on the surface by the CAN buses. The system can simultaneously transmit real-time data to the host computer in the management center and the mobile-phones of the responsible personnel by GPRS module, and when the data exceed the limited values, an alarm will occur. Compared with data transmission through conventional bus, application of wireless sensor network and GPRS network technologies reduces investment on underground lines-laying and maintenance difficulties, ensures timely, accurate and rapid transmission of data in all key underground mining zones and improves efficiency of the system. The system has such dominants as easybuilding up, powerful-function, high-reliability, good-extendibility and etc. The system is an advanced approach to solve the present key problem that wireless communication distance is limited in the mine and has great benefits for coal mine safety production.

As P2P traffic now constitutes a substantial proportion of Internet traffic, ISPs are facing new challenge in network management. Instead of blindly limiting P2P traffic, ISPs should provide the basic networking service for P2P users while minimizing the traffic overhead over the infrastructure. On the other hand, illegal sharing of copyrighted and malicious materials with P2P applications introduces a serious security issue, which motives the need of knowing what contents are really transferred in P2P applications. This paper presents MORSE, a system that enables ISPs to accurately identify and effectively control P2P traffic, as well as, revert transferred contents if needed. Specifically, in terms of traffic control, MORSE leverages file-level information provided by a P2P traffic identification method to adopt an efficient and flexible strategy: limiting the number of concurrent flows that a peer can use to download a particular file. In terms of content reverting, besides traditional flow reconstruction method, MORSE offers an indirect way that uses the file ID information. At last, a real-life trace is measured in MORSE and promising results are obtained.
