This paper discusses an application of multilayer Perceptron in wireless sensor network security. The wireless sensor network (WSN) is a network of distributed autonomous devices that supervise physical or environmental conditions corporately. The multilayer perceptron (MLP) based media access control protocol (MAC) to secure CSMA-based wireless sensor networks against denial-of-service attacks launched by adversaries. The MLP boost security of a WSN by consistently monitoring the parameter that reveals unusual variation in case of an attack the MLP alerts the MAC layer and the physical layer of the sensor mode when the suspicion factor, the output of the MLP exceeds a preset threshold level. Back propagation and Radial Basis Function Network (RBFN) algorithms are used for training the MLP. Simulation results show that the MLP helps in extending the life time of the WSN.

Electrical grids are highly complex and dynamic systems that can be unreliable, insecure, and inefficient in serving end consumers. The promise of Smart Grids lies in the architecting and developing of intelligent distributed and networked systems for automated monitoring and controlling of the grid to improve performance. We have designed an agent-oriented architecture for a simulation which can help in understanding Smart Grid issues and in identifying ways to improve the electrical grid. We focus primarily on the self-healing problem, which concerns methodologies for activating control solutions to take preventative actions or to handle problems after they occur. We present software design issues that must be considered in producing a system that is flexible, adaptable and scalable. Agent-based systems provide a paradigm for conceptualizing, designing, and implementing software systems. Agents are sophisticated computer programs that can act autonomously and communicate with each other across open and distributed environments. We present design issues that are appropriate in developing a Multi-agent System (MAS) for the grid. Our MAS is implemented in the Java Agent Development Framework (JADE). Our Smart Grid Simulation uses many types of agents to acquire and monitor data, support decision making, and represent devices, controls, alternative power sources, the environment, management functions, and user interfaces.

Wireless camera-based sensor networks have emerged as an important class of sensor-based distributed intelligent systems. Camera-based sensor networks consist of large number of low-power camera nodes to monitor a general environment such as airports, museums, traffic control, military applications and etc. The camera nodes get information from a monitored environment, performing distributed and cooperation processing of their collected data. Using multiple cameras in the network provides different views of the scene, which increases the reliability of the captured events. The large number of image data produced by the cameras considering the network's resource restriction like bandwidth and energy consumption. Wireless camera-based sensor networks have many challenges and one of the important problems in cameras field of view is the coverage. The main contribution of this paper is to show the ability of genetic algorithm to solve coverage problem in wireless camera-based sensor networks. Simulation result of the presented method shows the better coverage ratio compared with the self-orientation algorithm which is appeared in 2008.

A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a wireless network consistsing of spatially distributed autonomous device using sensors to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants at different locations. A complete model of a sensor network is needed to improve upon its efficiency and *** a modeling and simulation tool called Visualsense models of these in this paper will discuss the implementation and creation of a sensor node in *** the Visualsense analyses of a sensor network, several factors affecting a network are relized such as battery life and signal range of the device. Modeling of wireless sensor networks requires sophisticated modeling of communication channels, sensor channels, adhoc networking protocols, localization strategies, media access control protocols, energy consumption in sensor nodes, etc. this modeling framework is designed to support a component-based construction of such models. It is intended to enable the research community to share models of disjoint aspects of the sensor nets problem and to build models that include sophisticated elements from several aspects.

A wireless sensor network consists of spatially distributed autonomous sensors to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants. Different approaches have used for simulation and modeling of SN (Sensor Network) and WSN. Traditional approaches consist of various simulation tools based on different languages such as C, C++ and Java. In this paper, MATLAB (7.6) Simulink was used to build a complete WSN system. Simulation procedure includes building the hardware architecture of the transmitting nodes, modeling both the communication channel and the receiving master node architecture. Bluetooth was chosen to undertake the physical layer communication with respect to different channel parameters (i.e., Signal to Noise ratio, Attenuation and Interference). The simulation model was examined using different topologies under various conditions and numerous results were collected. This new simulation methodology proves the ability of the Simulink MATLAB to be a useful and flexible approach to study the effect of different physical layer parameters on the performance of wireless sensor networks.

With the development of microelectronics, computer technology, information technology, and intelligent of machinery and control equipment, the flexible manufacturing technique has become one of the key developing directions for advanced manufacturing technology. The cloud manufacturing (CMfg), which is a new generation service-oriented networked manufacturing model, can provide the users distributed in different places with the manufacturing resource and manufacturing ability services through the centralized management. In order to improve the quality of resource service optimal-allocation and cope with the flexible issues in CMfg, this paper investigated the definition and classification of flexibility in the whole life-cycle of resource service composition in CMfg, and the related factors in life-cycle of resource service composition were analyzed. The flexible management architecture for resource service composition in CMfg was designed. The key issues and their solutions in flexible management of resource service composition were preliminarily discussed.

Summary form only given: Networked sensors and actuators are increasingly pervasive in our daily lives, from tracking inventory in warehouses to monitoring movement of environmental pollutants and helping elderly living a more independent life. The data collected by the sensors needs to be distilled into higher level information and knowledge that must be promptly acted upon by autonomous controllers or humans. The scale of these systems-sometimes called Internet of Things (IOT), Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), or Sensor Networks (Sensornet)-dwarfs the Internet as we know today. In addition to the challenges of making the sensors small, affordable, and energy efficient, and networking them into a reliable ensemble, the more arduous task is the timely processing of voluminous and streaming sensor data subject to energy and network constraints and uncertainties. To address these challenges, we must leverage the advances in disciplines such as devices, wireless communication, control and decision theory, machine learning, and database, to name a few. Cloud computing provides new opportunities in aggregating sensor data and exploiting the aggregates for greater coverage and relevancy, and yet at the same time exacerbates the issue of privacy and security. A multi-disciplinary, holistic approach is needed.

Increasing traffic congestion is a major problem in urban areas, which incurs heavy economic and environmental costs in both developing and developed countries. Efficient urban traffic control (UTC) can help reduce traffic congestion. However, the increasing volume and the dynamic nature of urban traffic pose particular challenges to UTC. Reinforcement Learning (RL) has been shown to be a promising approach to efficient UTC. However, most existing work on RL-based UTC does not adequately address the fluctuating nature of urban traffic. This paper presents Soilse 1 , a decentralized RL-based UTC optimization scheme that includes a nonparametric pattern change detection mechanism to identify local traffic pattern changes that adversely affect an RL agent's performance. Hence, Soilse is adaptive as agents learn to optimize for different traffic patterns and responsive as agents can detect genuine traffic pattern changes and trigger relearning. We compare the performance of Soilse to two baselines, a fixed-time approach and a saturation balancing algorithm that emulates SCATS, a well-known UTC system. The comparison was performed based on a simulation of traffic in Dublin's inner city centre. Results from using our scheme show an approximate 35%-43% and 40%-54% better performance in terms of average vehicle waiting time and average number of vehicle stops respectively against the best baseline performance in our simulation.

The work contains the analysis of the design methodology of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which is able to carry out environmental monitoring, define the location of various objects and targets with high accuracy, map the seats of fire and areas of environmental contamination, fulfil patrolling functions to solve the tasks of the National Armed Forces and police, carry out meteorological research, etc. The original UAV design is provided with special compartments to carry useful load (engine, batteries, surveillance camera, control elements, 80 etc). The UAV has a combined control system intended for the control in an automatic mode including the application of GPS system.
