The increasing population, climate fluctuations, soil erosion, limited water resources, and concerns about food security highlight the need for effective and sustainable approaches to food production. Aquaponics represents a sustainable method that conserves land and water while minimizing its environmental impact. This technique operates as a closed-loop, soil-less farming system, requiring meticulous monitoring, control, and management. monitoring an aquaponic greenhouse system involves tracking various parameters to maintain the health and productivity of both plants and fish. Our research introduces a design and algorithms for monitoring an aquaponic greenhouse, utilizing wireless sensor networks (WSN), aquaponic systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) technology.

Smart grids powered by artificial intelligence have emerged as a potentially game-changing method for enhancing the dependability and durability of electricity networks. This article examines the incorporation of AI technologies into power infrastructures, with a focus on sophisticated sensing and monitoring systems, data analytics, machine learning algorithms, and decentralized control mechanisms. The benefits of artificial intelligence- enabled smart grids include improved energy management, increased grid reliability, and reduced environmental impact. Data privacy and security concerns, the incorporation of new technologies such as blockchain and the Internet of Things, and the need for standardization are just a few of the hurdles that must be surmounted. Case studies illustrate AI's successful application in optimizing demand response, predictive maintenance, and integrating renewable energy. Integrating artificial intelligence with new technologies, bolstering privacy and security, refining large-scale deployment, and evaluating economic and policy ramifications are all promising avenues for future research. The results emphasize the potential role of intelligent infrastructure facilitated by artificial intelligence in the transition to sustainable power systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Aquaponics is essentially a compound agricultural farming model that combines aquaculture and hydroponics, which is used to improve resource utilization and promote sustainable development. It can be used to solve food and environmental problems in the world. The environment of aquaponics is sensitive. As aquatic organisms and plants are cultivated at the same time, aquaponics has stricter requirements on the environment. Internet of Things (IoT) technology has made many successful applications in modern agriculture, especially in realizing intelligent environmental monitoring and control, which is important for the further development of aquaponics. In recent years, many studies have focused on using IoT technology to guide the construction of aquaponic system. This paper describes the composition of aquaponic system in detail. The complexity of this system needs intelligent means to ensure its normal operation by enumerating and explaining the important parameters of aquaponics, as well as the intelligent monitoring and control strategies of aquaponic water environment in literatures. The key information is summarized to support the further promotion of automatic aquaponics solutions. © 2021 IEEE.

Wireless sensor networks are built from nodes called mod - small autonomous devices powered by batteries and microchips with radio communication at a frequency - for example 2.4 GHz. A special software allows mods to be organized into distributed networks, communicate with each other, interrogate and exchange data with adjacent nodes, the distance of which is usually no more than 100 meters. A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a wireless network consisting of geographically distributed autonomous devices that use sensors to collectively monitor physical or environmental conditions in different areas. They can measure parameters such as temperature, sound, vibration, and pressure, movement of objects or wind. The development of wireless sensor networks was initially motivated by military tasks such as battlefield surveillance. In this paper discussed in detail about, wireless sensor networks are increasingly used in many areas of civil life, including industrial and environmental monitoring, healthcare, and material movement control. The main operational processing of the data collected by the motes is carried out at the node or gateway, which is a very powerful computer. But to process the data, you have to get it first. For this purpose, the node must be equipped with an antenna. But in any case, only objects close to it are accessible to the node;In other words, node does not receive information directly from each node © 2022 IEEE.

This paper proposes a recognition and localization algorithm based on Mask RCNN(Mask Region-based Convolutional Neural Network) for Agaricus bisporus to address the problems caused by the poor environmental adaptability of traditional vision methods, such as high mushroom unrecognized rate especially for small mushrooms and sticky mushrooms, poor robustness of recognization, low accuracy of centroid localization, etc. Firstly, the algorithm uses Mask RCNN to segment Agaricus bisporuses and obtain the masks of each Agaricus bisporuses. Next, the Agaricus bisporus mask edges are extracted, then the ellipse is used to reconstruct the contour depending on the data of the mask edges, and the center point of the ellipse is taken as the center point of the Agaricus bisporus. The experiments show that the proposed algorithm in this paper has stronger robustness, it greatly improves the success rate of recognition of Agaricus bisporus under different light intensities and complex growth environments, and the generated contours much more fit with the actual contours, the size of the recognized Agaricus bisporus and the localization accuracy are higher, with the segmentation accuracy AP50 reaching 95.061%, which can better meet the requirements of Agaricus bisporus picking and its growth status monitoring. © 2022 IEEE.

Due to the limitations of traditional monitoring methods in environmental adaptability, the intelligent video surveillance system has garnered significant attention. The evolution of computer vision technology has facilitated the emergence of this intelligent surveillance system. Specifically, the utilization of deep learning technology in intelligent video surveillance has demonstrated immense potential in analyzing video behaviors and addressing real-world challenges. At present, several deep learning-based video surveillance architectures have been proposed, including hybrid CNN-RNN networks, two-stream networks, attention mechanisms, and transformers. These architectures have found robust applications in various fields, such as action identification, behavior comprehension, and detection of aberrant conduct. In this paper, the author first delves into the differences between traditional video behavior analyses and those based on deep learning. Subsequently, the author elaborates on the applications of the deep learning in video surveillance, highlighting its advantages and capabilities. After that, the author introduces several architectures of intelligent video surveillance based on deep learning, providing insights into their workings and potential impact. Finally, the author puts forward the improvement direction of intelligent video surveillance.

Aiming at the problems that the existing computer room environment monitoring system has a low communication efficiency and can't access to Ethernet, a new system that can monitor environmental parameters in real time and has the ability to remotely control the equipment is designed. The system mainly consists of a controller and multiple monitors. The controller and the monitor both use STM32 chips based on the ARM core. The monitors are loaded with various sensors to collect environmental parameters. The controller obtains the data of the monitor and responds to the abnormal situation, alarms and automatically opens the safety equipment in the computer room, so that environmental parameters are restored to normal. The controller is connected to the W5500 chip through the SPI interface. The W5500 driver is combined with FreeModbus protocol stack in the software to complete the Modbus TCP protocol communication function between the controller and the host computer. After testing, the intelligent computer room environment monitoring system can monitor the environmental parameters of the computer room in real time. And it can communicate with the host computer via Ethernet to complete the functions of data storage, viewing and controlling the device to meet the expected requirements.

Inefficient garbage collection not only leads to overflowing bins and unpleasant but also poses significant environmental and health risks. This paper proposes an effective garbage monitoring system utilizing a GSM module for real-time fill-level detection and automated alerts. The system employs ultrasonic sensors to measure garbage level within the bin, triggering an alert (SMS or data transmission) to designated authorities via the GSM module when a predefined threshold is reached. This enables optimized collection schedules, reducing unnecessary trips, fuel consumption, and associated emissions. Additionally, the system can be integrated with GPS for location tracking, facilitating targeted waste management in geographically dispersed areas. The proposed system offers a cost-effective and scalable solution for enhancing waste management efficiency, promoting environmental sustainability, and improving public health.

Battery degradation has an impact on the safety and sustain ability of energy storage systems, which is a consequence of multiple coupled ageing mechanisms. The caused factors include battery chemistry and manufacturing, as well as environmental and operating conditions. Hence, the ageing mechanisms are highly complicated to characterize. The state of health (SOH) of a battery is a commonly used metric to evaluate its aging level. monitoring battery SOH can realize safety and reliable operation of battery management systems. Data-driven methods for battery health estimation and prediction are gaining increasing attention in both academia and industry due to the advantage of avoiding complex physical models. Hence, this paper reviews current state-of-the-art data-driven SOH estimation methods published in 2018-2022, where the variants and extensions of each method existing in current papers are introduced. Finally, the current faced challenges and the solutions are analyzed. © 2022 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT), has significantly impacted several industry sectors in recent years, particularly those that deal with air, soil, and water quality. With the growing diversity of sensors and their processing and communication capabilities, a number of methods have been put up for creating systems that continuously gather environmental data. These data can be further processed for long-term analysis or quick response. Every solution that has been put forth presents a static system, meaning that the sensors are positioned in fixed, designer-determined locations. Our work presents a dynamic and autonomous system in which sensors are free to travel within a given area and, by utilizing intelligent algorithms and distributed systems techniques, they determine the optimal way to employ in order to monitor the target environment by combining intelligent algorithms and distributed systems techniques.
