After more than 20 years of development, Internet of things has a lot of applications in the actual scene, which greatly facilitates people's work and life. As people paying more and more attention to environmental quality, the application of Internet of Things in indoor environment monitoring and control has become an important branch. In this paper we present a set of lightweight intelligent solutions for the management of computer rooms after studying the key technologies of IoT. The system uses sensors to obtain environmental information, through the process of Raspberry Pi, controllers will make adaptive response, such as turn on the air conditioner, alarm users. The experiments demonstrates the system can be a good solution to the backwardness of current room management, especially college computer room, and provides a new application for IoT.

The current supervisory control and data acquisition(SCADA) system of wind farm has the problem of poor flexibility and weak integration in data access and the integrity of the data is susceptible to network and environmental factors. To solve the problem, I designed and researched SCADA system and wind farm data structure of wind farm and proposed a set of Web-based wind farm monitoring and information management system solution. I have introduced the key technologies of the system hardware and software basic architecture, fan data model establishment, data disconnection, distributed computing, multimedia access and so on. Through the system in a wind farm field deployment and operation, the various functions of the system were tested. The results show that the system has the ability to access different models of fans and external equipment data, the continuity and integrity of the data have been greatly protected, and the integrated management has effectively improved the operation and management efficiency of the wind field. The successful development and application of the system has a positive reference value for the further development of wind farm monitoring and management technology.

Aiming to keep under control a particular system or environment or to ensure that it works as expected there is a need to know what-when-why happens there. Various conditions and environmental factors can lead to errors, unexpected behavior or loss of control. To pursue these factors manually is time consuming, error prone, slow and usually quite expensive. monitoring is quite complex and challenging activity, but with recent advances of technology in many areas there is a good premise for automating almost each activity in monitoring of any system, process, and environment. The basic activity of monitoring is gathering data, which with high degree of accuracy will make us more informed, more aware and will help us to take more correct decision. This paper shows the main questions identified while trying to design architecture for an OpenSmartWorld environment monitoring system, the main characteristics which this kind of system should have and the technologies and standards proposed to be used in order to support required functionalities.

Renewable energy is one of the growing trend in developing countries. Rapid development of renewable energy leads to the economic benefits and reduce environmental pollution. According to current scenario 20 to 40 percent of the power generated is consumed by streetlights. The problems faced by the current street lighting systems are when there is availability of light there is no proper utilization. Sun intensity shift is not constant all the time, it varies as the climate changes. Real time monitoring and control using intelligent algorithm avoids energy wastage during day time. ZigBee as a communication protocol current and voltage values are sent and received. Base controller (Single Board computer) acts as an interphase between the communication protocol and the cloud account. Remote client application is developed to control and monitor streetlight.

Due to climate change and scarcity of water reservoirs, monitoring and control of irrigation systems is now becoming a major focal area for researchers in Cyber-hysical Systems (CPS). Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are rapidly finding their way in the field of irrigation and play the key role as data gathering technology in the domain of IoT and CPS. They are efficient for reliable monitoring, giving farmers an edge to take precautionary measures. However, designing an energy-efficient WSN system requires a cross-layer effort and energy-aware routing protocols play a vital role in the overall energy optimization of a WSN. In this paper, we propose a new hierarchical routing protocol suitable for large area environmental monitoring such as large-scale irrigation network existing in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The proposed protocol resolves the issues faced by traditional multi-hop routing protocols such as LEACH, M-LEACH and I-LEACH, and enhances the lifespan of each WSN node that results in an increased lifespan of the whole network. We used the open-source NS3 simulator for simulation purposes and results indicate that our proposed modifications result in an average 27.8% increase in lifespan of the overall WSN when compared to the existing protocols.

Networked embedded systems endowed with sensing, computing, control and communication capabilities allow the development of various application scenarios and represent the building blocks of the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm. Traditional data collection methods include multiple field level IoT systems that can relay data stemming from a network of distributed ground sensors directly to a cloud platform for storage, analysis and processing. In such applications however, rapid sensor deployment in unstructured environments represents a challenge to the overall robustness of the system. We discuss the fog and mist computing approaches to hierarchically process data along its path from source to destination. The several stages of intermediate data processing reduce the computational and communication effort in a gradual manner. A three-layer topology for smart data monitoring and processing is thus proposed and illustrated to improve the information to noise ratio in a reference scenario.

According to the problem of water pollution and deterioration of water quality, a water quality monitoring system was constructed based on cloud platform and the underwater observation networks of environmental protection enterprises. The cloud data synchronization and management were realized through Kettle. The management window was designed to realize cloud data visualization. A regular expression based access control method was designed to achieve privilege management. The problem caused by the large amount of data stuck was solved through the server-side paging and interval sampling, etc. The actual development and deployment shows that the platform works well, which improves the real-time quality and reliability of water quality monitoring effectively and provides an application case for the development of science and technology in the field of environmental protection including water source monitoring.

The paper addresses the problem of efficiently monitoring environmental fields in a smart building by the use of a network of wireless noisy sensors that take discretely-predefined measurements at their locations through time. It is proposed that the indoor environmental fields are statistically modeled by spatio-temporal non-parametric Gaussian processes. The proposed models are able to effectively predict and estimate the indoor climate parameters at any time and at any locations of interest, which can be utilized to create timely maps of indoor environments. More importantly, the monitoring results are practically crucial for building management systems to efficiently control energy consumption and maximally improve human comfort in the building. The proposed approach was implemented in a real tested space in a university building, where the obtained results are highly promising. © 2017 IEEE.

Traffic congestions represent current realities of urban environments, partly because the road infrastructure capacity can't cope anymore with the increase rate of the cars number. This characteristic, coupled with weather conditions, work zones and traffic incidents makes traffic congestions a major concern for municipalities. The advanced technologies for traffic control have the potential to lead to an efficient use of the present road network systems, which will reduce energy consumption, local pollutant emissions, delays, traffic congestion and improve safety. intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) such as travel advisories, advanced traveler information systems etc. tries to decrease travel time and relieve congestion by assisting the drivers in the process of decision making while driving, by selecting better modes of travel, departure times and routes. The current ITS platforms have as main drawback the inadequacy to support collaborative features and their limited or focused set of solutions. Because of this, it's often difficult to introduce a new service, since the needed quantity of data hinders the quality of the service. This paper presents a platform for ecosystems which allows the engaging communities to exploit the shared value of collaborative cultures and mobility that can be leveraged beyond the traditional views of social networks. Data procured from highly heterogeneous, distributed, virtual and real devices (actuators, smart devices, sensors), in the range of millions, will be automatically analyzed, managed and controlled by distributed services.

i-Light is a home-monitoring system that enables a pervasive, seamless, and inexpensive monitoring scheme. It is researched and implemented as part of a European Union funded project and it will achieve pervasive monitoring by means of a novel energy efficient luminaire equipped with an embedded sensing, indoor localization and communications electronic system, luminaire that is developed as part of the project. This report is based on a survey with respect to the usage of intelligent luminaires indoors. The purpose of this paper is to determine the interest of population in a new type of product, and to identify the requirements that satisfy the needs of the end users. This product will interact with many third-party devices in the healthcare and wellness sectors, enabling plug-and-play interoperability just out-of-the-box. i-Light is envisioned as an ambient assisted living system;thus, it will continuously monitor environmental conditions and supervised persons' daily activities and send alerts to caregivers, in case of potentially dangerous situations.
