More than two-thirds of freshwater consumed worldwide are used for irrigation, and large quantities of freshwater can be saved by improving the efficiency of irrigation systems. Irrigation control systems deployed in agriculture can substantially be enhanced by implementing intelligentmonitoring techniques enabling automated sensing and continuous analyses of actual soil parameters. Automatically scheduling irrigation events based on soil moisture measurements has been proven an effective means to reduce freshwater consumption and irrigation costs, while maximizing the crop yield. Focusing on decentralized autonomous soil moisture monitoring, this paper presents the design, the implementation, and the validation of a low-cost remote monitoring system for agricultural ecosystems. The prototype monitoring system consists of a number of intelligent wireless sensor nodes that are distributed in the observed environment. The sensor nodes are connected to an Internet-enabled computer system, which is installed on site for disseminating relevant soil information and providing remote access to the monitoring system. Autonomous software programs, labeled "mobile software agents", are embedded into the wireless sensor nodes to continuously analyze the soil parameters and to autonomously trigger irrigation events based on the actual soil conditions and on weather data integrated from external sources.

It has been recently suggested that concrete processes occurring on the Sun (e.g. sunspots) significantly affect the tropical cyclogenesis. Despite this finding the current understanding of the processes that generate tropical cyclones is still limited. We herewith present a new complex monitoring tool for the collection and storage of relevant environmental information to solve the problem of the tropical cyclone prediction. More specifically, a three-level methodology for making decisions on the dynamical evolution of the ocean-atmosphere system is suggested. This methodology is based on a recently proposed environmental instability indicator and the use of sequential analysis process within which a stage of training is established, when all boundaries are located. Effectiveness of this methodology is assessed by examination of several examples of tropical hurricanes. More specifically, it is demonstrated how this tool can be employed to monitor the tropical hurricanes, like Katrina (2005), Irene (2011) and Isaac (2012).

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) can experience problems (anomalies) during deployment, due to dynamic environmental factors or node hardware and software failures. These anomalies demand reliable detection strategies for supporting long term and/or large scale WSN deployments. Several strategies have been proposed for detecting specific WSN anomaly, yet there is still a need for more comprehensive anomaly detection strategies that jointly address network and node level anomalies. Intellectus methodology [23], [24], [25] build a tool that detected a new limited set of faults: sensor nodes may dynamically fail, be isolate and reboot and local topology control. These bugs are difficult to diagnose because the only externally visible characteristic is that no data is seen at the sink, from one or more nodes. This paper evaluate Intellectus methodology by different experiment in a Testbed network. In fact, Intellectus is be able to detect the injected fault and assess different scenarios of topology change.

According to the temperature, humidity, air quality and other environmental factors, the indoor environment monitoring system is designed, which collects the signals of a sensor using the NI company's WSN module, uploads to the computer, and uses graphical programming software-LabVIEW, for PC software design. The function of real-time display and alarm of data, the alarm history records, and data storage in the different positions in the room environment are realized, and then the indoor environment monitoring system is built quickly.

Based on the requirements analysis of the high reliability of long-period spacecraft vacuum thermal test, with server cluster technology, a high available distributed measurement and control system for spacecraft vacuum thermal test is designed. This paper expounds the system structure, the detailed method of system build and implement. The scheme can optimize hardware resource allocation, achieve failover and fault recovery, guarantee the continuous and stable running of measurement and control system during the long test period. Finally, test proves that the system shutdown time is less than 15 minutes and the high available system can relieve the loads of operators, decrease the test hazard due to system defects and man-made errors, and improve the precision, efficiency, automation of spacecraft vacuum thermal test.
