With advance of our human being's science and technology and enhance of the living standards, more and more people have addressed higher requirements on the environmental conditions in a hospital, therefore, the traditional and no-intelligent monitoring devices are being replaced by the automated and networked monitoring systems gradually. In this case, application of the wireless sensor network just fits this need. This paper proposes the Tianjin First Central Hospital indoor environment monitoring & control system of distributed acquisition and execution, and centralized management by focusing on the needs for the technical indicators of the hospital indoor environment. During design of the system, an universal design concept was put forward, and also a non-standard communication protocol for the wireless sensor network designed independently in combination with the OSI open standard. In this paper, realization of the communication protocol among the nodes with embedded software and the operation mechanism of the modes themselves are discussed, also a console panel has been developed for the data center. Several software design algorithms are proposed with respect to the network layout. This paper also describes the test platform of the Tianjin First Central Hospital indoor environment monitoring & control system established with the network components designed, and provides the test and verification results, including the monitored data of the various gases, corresponding automatic control functions, and underlay BER analysis. The results show that this system can basically realize automatic monitoring on the Tianjin First Central Hospital indoor environment. At present, the sensitive gases include CO, CO2, O2, NH3 and formaldehyde, sensitive environments temperature, humidity and light intensity, and controlled targets ventilation and lighting. This paper discusses the synthesis of distributed computer system for monitoring and control of thermoacoustic processes. Based on the analysis of existing monitoring systems, authors show the main tasks of the synthesized system as well as describe its structure and main components. Created distributed computer system (DCS) is then tested on the experimental thermoacoustic installation. Using the data obtained authors describe the approach for thermoacoustic systems control by the adjustments in the resonator length of the thermoacoustic device.

Typical WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) applications in precision agriculture include production process management, plant growth optimization, farmland monitoring and so on. Middleware, which can connect hardware, applications, and enterprise systems, is required to construct ubiquitous agricultural environment combining WSN technology with different agricultural applications, but there have been insufficient studies in the field of agricultural-oriented WSN middleware compared to other industries. This paper proposes a middleware to process data collected from agricultural environment by applying WSN technology, analyzes the data and standardizes different data forms, and provides intelligent diagnosis service and event service. One of the advantages of the proposed middleware is to build a model library which will guide the agriculture production process, such as irrigation control and disease prevention. In addition, a web-based remote login is provided to all users around the world to browse agricultural environmental parameters and to reference for intelligent decision. © 2013 IFIP international Federation for Information Processing.

A visual tracking system based on ultrasonic motors is designed in view of shortcoming of traditional video surveillance system, which has a large volume, complicated structure. The pan-tilt can rotate in horizontal and vertical directions by using two ultrasonic motors served as the driving units. The image from video camera is processed and the target is identified and real-time tracked by rotating the pan -tilt which is controlled by ultrasonic motor. Compared with electromagnetic motor, the ultrasonic motor has advantages of high torque at low speed, quick response, high precision and self-locked, which makes the structure simpler and control more convenient. Experimental results show that the system can be stably tracking the selected target with fast response speed and relatively high tracking accuracy. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Along with the improvement of sanitary conditions and changes of life style, people begin to pay attention to the modern concept of health promotion and preventive medicine. Therefore, we built an intelligent environment monitoring feedback system to collect data of physical conditions of employees and air conditions of the working environment, displayed the collected data with a real time interface, and sent out warming messages to prevent accidents. We hope that based on these real-time data, the proposed system can help people make right and timely decisions, and act on time to maintain a beneficial environment in the monitored area.

Multi-Agent System (MAS) can be used in emergency rescue in traffic monitor and aviation field ect.. It has been a hot spot about how to control the isomerous rescue robot team Multi-Agent System to finish the rescue task efficiently in the shortest time according to the task allocation based on the spot environment and existing resource now. In this thesis, a modified Multi-Agent task allocation algorithm based on auction is introduced, in the algorithm, robots act as agents to constitute the emergency rescue system, and it can realize the cooperation of Multi-Agent Robots to finish the rescue tasks with various of levels and kinds by the optimized task allocation.

The safety and reliability of critical civil infrastructures have been a major concern in all countries around the world. However, structural health monitoring (SHM) still faces a number of challenges, particularly in the area of in- and post-disaster monitoring. In addition, due to the large scale in dimension and complexity in geometry of a typical civil structure, a large number of embedded sensors are required to measure various structural and environmental parameters under normal and extreme conditions. To enhance the survivability of a sensor network for life-cycle structural health monitoring (SHM), this paper presents a novel self-healing sensor network. One Spider Orb-Web or network and one hybrid optical fiber (OF) system by combining the local and distributed OF technologies are designed to enhance the functionality of self-healing. Furthermore, three local self-healing sensor nodes, which use light switches or couplers, are designed to maintain the measuring connectivity at hot stress point. Finally, A simple Brillouin sensing network with selfhealing nodes is constructed and then validated by the strain measurements of a three-point bend beam. The results show that by using self-healing sensors nodes, the stress state of the RC beam can be successively detected, even when some sensors fail or when the sensing line is broken. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Flexible manufacturing systems as complex and stochastic environments require the development of innovative, intelligent control architectures for supporting more flexibility, agility and re-configurability. distributed manufacturing control system addresses this challenge by introducing an adaptive production control approach and is supported by the presence of autonomous control units which are cooperating with each other. The majority of the current distributed control systems, till now suffer from lack of flexibility and agility when the product verity is high or the product volume is low, and also there is not reconfigure in case of ad-hoc events. To overcome these limitations, a kind of drawback of an excessive dependence on up-to-date information about the products and other elements which move within the system is essential. To this end, RFID as a new emerging technology was introduced which uses radio-frequency waves to transfer data between a reader and movable item for identification, tracking and categorization purpose. This study discusses the architecture devised to deploy RFID-enabled distributed control and monitoring system by means of a set of agents that are responsible for the realization of different control and monitoring tasks and cooperating with each other to enhance agility, flexibility and re-configurability of manufacturing system. The RFID-enabled distributed control and monitoring system has been explored using a flexible manufacturing system (EMU-CIM lab) to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed architecture successfully.

The range of ubiquitous computing technology available for use in healthcare continues to evolve, allowing for an increasing variety of wireless sensors, devices, and actuators to be deployed in changing environments. This paper presents a robust distributed architecture for adaptive and intelligent bio-interaction systems, called Evolutionary Bio-inspired Knowledge Accumulation. This system is designed to its capability to increase knowledge enhancement even in dynamic and uneven environments. Our proposed system adopts the concepts of biological context-awareness with evolutionary computations where the working environments are modeled and identified as bio-environmental contexts. We have used an unsupervised learning algorithm for bio-context modeling, and a supervised learning algorithm for context identification. A genetic algorithm, for its adaptive criteria, is used to explore action configuration for each identified bio context to implement our concept. This framework has been used to reduce noise in ECG signals that have been gathered in routine remote healthcare monitoring. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm effectively removes baseline wander noise and muscle noise, and feature extraction results showed a significant improvement of T duration extraction values. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media.
