Three-dimensional (3D) imaging has always been somewhat fascinating in its own right because it corresponds to natural spatial vision. With the increasing emergence of personal computers (PCSs), 3D applications first found their way into games and soon into "serious" applications, especially in training and education. The development of electrical detection technology and quantitative interpretation of results, 3D geological modeling, and the search for hidden mines have made conducting electrical 3D inversion and 3D visualization expression an important research topic. The three-dimensional nature of underground space determines the limitations of using two- dimensional profile measurement results to interpret three-dimensional underground geological bodies. 3Dinversionand3D visual expression are carried out based on the high-density electrical method 2D profile survey data in GuiLest BarQin mining area, Inner Mongolia. The continuous distribution of near east-west low resistivity anomaly zone reflects that there is a low resistivity structural zone in the contact zone of Jurassic and Devonian strata, and the structural attitude is nearly vertical;the polarizability anomaly body is distributed on both sides of the corresponding low resistivity structural belt. The strength and scale of the anomaly indicate that the mineralization is mainly distributed in the Jurassic strata close to the structural belt, followed by continuous mineralization in the deep Devonian strata far away from the structural belt. The mineralization projection on the surface corresponds to the IP anomaly, and has certain specificity with the Jurassic Tuff. The three-dimensional inversion and visualization results of high-density electrical method 2D profile measurement data in the mining area directly reflect the spatial occurrence of the structure and the spatial position relationship with mineralization, the exclusive relationship between mineralization and rock strata, and the corresponding relationship between mineralization and IP anomalies, indicating the direction for further exploration work. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Software visualization techniques provide effective means for program comprehension tasks as they allow developers to interactively explore large code bases. A frequently encountered task during software development is the detection of source code files of similar semantic. To assist this task we present Software Forest, a novel 2.5D software visualization that enables interactive exploration of semantic similarities within a software system, illustrated as a forest. The underlying layout results from the analysis of the vocabulary of the software documents using Latent Dirichlet Allocation and Multidimensional Scaling and therefore reflects the semantic similarity between source code files. By mapping properties of a software entity, e.g., size metrics or trend data, to visual variables encoded by various, figurative tree meshes, aspects of a software system can be displayed. This concept is complemented with implementation details as well as a discussion on applications.

Information about the wind situation is crucial for en-route air traffic controllers. In this paper, we compare several glyph designs for showing wind direction and speed by the means of an empirical study. The different designs are based on arrows, wind barbs, and text. During the study, we are measuring response times and accuracy. Moreover, we collect evidence of the applicability of those designs in en-route air traffic control by qualitative feedback from air traffic controllers. Our findings suggest, that the often-used wind barbs are less suited for assessing wind speed and direction. Instead, a combination of arrow and text should be favored.

We develop and implement a web-based, interactive visual NLP learning platform that enables novice learners to study the core processing components of statistical NLP analytics in sequence. More specifically, the contributions of this work are three-fold: (1) the ease of learners to access and use our platform through any web browser at no cost;(2) the interactive and dynamic visuals (e.g., mouseover events, collapsible tree diagrams, and animations) that enhance the study environment and learners' engagement;and (3) the in-focus step-by-step process, using the job posting classification as an example, to demonstrate the core processing components of statistical NLP approaches.

Clustering, a fundamental technique in unsupervised learning, identifies similar groups within a dataset. However, clustering algorithms encounter limitations when requiring a predetermined number of clusters/centroids/labels. This paper proposes a novel approach of clustering by integrating concepts from Voronoi diagrams in Laguerre geometry, namely, Laguerre Voronoi Clustering (LVCluster). Laguerre geometry introduces circles by adding radius weight metric to centroids, enabling dynamic exclusion from clustering criteria. Consequently, this approach offers flexibility by necessitating only one hyperparameter, an upper-bound value for the number of circles. LVCluster can be optimized using gradient descent and can be jointly optimized with deep neural network architectures. The experimental results indicated that LVCluster outperforms clustering algorithms when trained individually and jointly with deep neural networks on increased cluster centroids. © 2024 University of West Bohemia. Due to variations in the size, shape, and location of liver tumors among individuals, surgical plans for liver tumor resection differ significantly. Traditional simulators use relatively uniform models in terms of size, position, and shape, which cannot replicate the patient's true anatomical structure. Through 3D reconstruction technology, a customized liver simulation scenario can be quickly established for each patient using a 3D surface model reconstructed from their medical imaging data. This scenario allows for the simulation of different surgical plans. Initially, a 3D surface model is reconstructed based on the actual medical imaging data of each patient's liver. Since 3D reconstruction technology cannot reconstruct the ligaments of the liver, virtual ligaments and virtual ligament envelopes are reconstructed on the liver surface according to its anatomical structure. Next, these components are assembled in a volume model generator, where boundary conditions are set on the virtual ligament envelopes to generate the volume model scenario. Finally, a simulator is used to perform surgical simulations on the patient's customized volume model scenario. Simulation results indicate that the customized virtual liver scenario can produce realistic deformation, collision, and cutting effects. The simulation frame rate meets real-time requirements, allowing surgical simulations based on the patient's pathological characteristics, thereby greatly simulating real surgery. © 2025 SPIE.

Image retrieval is the process of searching for similar images based on their visual content, which has significant applications in the field of medical imaging. Quickly retrieving similar images from a medical image database can assist doctors in rapid browsing and diagnosis. Although feature fusion-based descriptors have achieved great success in the field of image retrieval, there are relatively few cases of using fusion feature descriptors for image retrieval in the medical imaging field. To address this gap, we propose a novel feature extraction model, Fuzzy-AttnNet, aimed at enhancing the performance of medical image retrieval using fusion descriptors. The model simulates dilated convolutions and self-attention mechanisms, comprehensively modeling both local and global features of medical images and performing feature fusion. The fused descriptors are then applied to image retrieval. Additionally, Fuzzy-AttnNet employs a parallel optimization strategy using Arcface loss and Softmax loss, which increases intra-class spacing and significantly improves the model's recognition performance across different categories. In subclass classification tasks, Fuzzy-AttnNet demonstrates significant advantages, with an average precision improvement of approximately 10% and a recall increase of about 30%. The experimental results indicate that our proposed feature extraction model significantly enhances the accuracy of medical image retrieval. © 2025 SPIE.

As a potent greenhouse gas, methane (CH4) leakage not only intensifies global warming, but also brings huge security risks. In recent years, with the rapid development of remote sensing technology, methane leakage detection using hyperspectral images has become a research hotspot. Among them, the airborne Visible Infrared imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS-NG) shows great potential in methane leakage detection with its high spectral resolution and wide spectral coverage. However, due to the complexity of land type conditions and the interference of confounding factors similar to the spectral characteristics of methane, the existing analytical methods are often difficult to obtain ideal detection results. Therefore, based on the DETR model, a novel end-to-end spectral absorption wavelength sensing transformer target detection network is proposed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of methane gas leakage detection. The reference spectrum feature generator and query refiner modules together improve the design of traditional transformer. Based on the traditional linear filter, a new spectral linear filter is proposed, which can better whiten the background distribution and amplify the methane signal by strategically selecting the relevant pixels in the spectral domain. The method presented in this paper has certain significance for improving the detection of methane gas leakage. © 2025 SPIE.

Recent advancements in the embedded systems field have resulted in more complicated systems with application-specific blocks (IP cores), often known as System on Chip (SoC) devices. Several redundancy-based embedded designs provide reliability and safety for SoC in aeronautics, automotive, industrial automation, railway, and space. In this paper, a Safety System-on-Chip heterogenous1oo2 architecture is presented. The design is based on two open-source and proven in-use cores, LEON3 from Cobham Gaisler and RISCV processors SweRV EH1 from Western Digital. The SoC is implemented on a Xilinx FPGA system and supplemented with conventional peripherals from the Xilinx IP library and Cobham Gaisler. A software comparator is included for a diagnostic.
