Image Reconstruction is generally an inverse problem, which helps to recover the original ideal image from its given bad version, such as one that is snowed by noise, blurred by atmospheric turbulence or that has some regions damaged. Image reconstruction techniques are used to create 3D images from sets of various projections. The task of generating fast and accurate 3D image reconstruction has found its application in the field of computer vision like robotics, entertainment, reverse engineering, augmented reality, human computer interaction and animation. This paper deals with detailed study on different methods and evaluation technique used in 3D image reconstructions like visualization technique, triangulation method, multiple kinect capturing system, handling photometric stereo and shadowing information in handling patches. Finally several recommendations on future study have been recommended based on recent issues like reconstructing geometrical shadow region, handling self shadow, shiny object, non-Iambatian surface, occlusion, reconstruction without the use of sensors like Global Positioning System (GPS) and Inertial Navigation System (INS).

Virtual Labels are used in computergraphics applications to represent textual information arranged on geometric surfaces. Such information consists of names, numbering, or other relevant data that need to be noticed quickly when a user scans the objects in the scene. This paper focuses on the so-called massive models, which have a large number of geometric primitives whose rendering presents a high computational cost and for which conventional texturing techniques can extrapolate the available computational resources. In this work we have developed a way to view, in real time, virtual labels with different information on the surfaces of objects in massive models. The technique is implemented entirely on the GPU, and shows no significant loss of performance and low memory cost. CAD models' objects are the main focus of the work, although the solution can be used in other types of objects once their texture coordinates are adjusted correctly.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third internationalconference on Advances in Visual Informatics, IVIC 2013, held in Selangor, Malaysia, in November 2013. The four keynotes and 69 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from various submissions. The papers focus on four tracks: computer visions and engineering; computergraphics and simulation; virtual and augmented reality; and visualization and social computing.

Computed tomography (CT) reconstruction methods are often unaware of the requirements of the subsequent 3D volume visualization stage. In this stage, a delicate and often-studied component is the interpolation of off-grid samples, where aliasing can lead to misleading artifacts and blurring, potentially hiding fine details of critical importance. The visualization-aware CT reconstruction framework we describe aims to account for these errors directly in the volume generation stage. Our framework informs the CT reconstruction process of the specific filter intended for interpolation in the subsequent visualization process, and this in turn ensures an accurate interpolation there at a set tolerance. Here, we focus on fast trilinear interpolation in conjunction with an octree-type mixed resolution volume representation without T-junctions. Efficient rendering is achieved by a space-efficient and locality-optimized representation, which can straightforwardly exploit fast fixed-function pipelines on GPUs.
