Breast Cancer continues to be a predominant contributor to mortality associated with cancer among women on a global scale. To improve survival rates and treatment consequences, it's necessary to detect issues early and create an accurate diagnosis. In recent years, Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques have shown great promise in medical diagnostics, offering the potential to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of breast cancer detection and prognosis. This research work provides breast cancer prediction using deep learning and machine learning studies on mammograms, ultrasounds, magnetic resonance imaging, and digital pathology images conducted over the past decade. An evaluation of studies from the past ten years highlights how important deep learning and machine learning have been in better patient outcomes and enlarges the accuracy of breast cancer detection. The automation of medical image assessment, machine learning, and deep learning technologies facilitate radiologists and pathologists in rendering more knowledgeable and accurate decisions. This reduction in the probability of human errors culminates in superior diagnostic accuracy and treatment methodologies, thereby ultimately improving the quality of patient care.

We present an interactive visualization tool that enables exploration and comparative analyses of election data in multi-partisan systems. We motivate and explain our design in the context of the Ecuadorian political landscape. We demonstrate the tool with data from Ecuador's three most recent presidential elections. Our tool enables both relative and absolute comparisons of the election results. © 2021 Owner/Author.

Firefighting in perilous environments necessitates heightened situational awareness to navigate dense smoke, extreme heat, and obstructed visibility. Conventional thermal imaging devices are expensive and often lack real-time hands-free functionality. This study presents a cost-effective alternative by adapting an ESP32CAM as a thermal imaging device and integrating it with a virtual reality(VR) headset to enhance firefighters visual capabilities. The system captures thermal imagery via an infrared sensor, processes data using an ESP32 microcontroller, and wirelessly transmits it to a VR headset. The VR interface provides an immersive, real time thermal view, allowing firefighters to detect heat signatures, locate individuals in distress, and assess structural stability. The study details hardware adaptations, sensor fusion, and software design while benchmarking performance against traditional thermal imaging systems. This compact, cost-efficient solution offers future advancements, including AI-driven threat identification, AR enhancements, and collaborative VR functionality, significantly improving firefighter safety, reducing response time, and optimizing rescue mission efficacy.

This paper presents experimental research aimed at comparing the academic achievement of students who have studied with an interactive digital lesson on using basic image editing programs designed for vocational certificate students. Additionally, the study seeks to assess students' satisfaction with these lessons. The research population and sample consist of students enrolled in the computer graphics course during Semester 1/2023 at Daruna Ratchaburi Vocational College, selected through purposive sampling. The research utilized the following tools: 1) an interactive digital lesson on using a program for basic image editing for Vocational Certificate students 2) an assessment form for evaluating the quality of interactive digital lessons, 3) an academic achievement test and 4) an assessment of student satisfaction with the interactive digital lessons. The results of the research indicate that the academic achievement of students who participated in the interactive digital lessons on the use of basic image editing programs for vocational certificate students improved significantly compared to their performance before studying, with statistical significance at the 0.05 level. Moreover, the satisfaction level of students with the digital lessons was found to be high (x̅ = 4.54, S.D. = 0.34)

Although we expect AI robots for cleaning work to clean the contaminated areas, physically contaminated areas do not always match what we perceive to be contaminated. Thus, to provide us with a more comfortable environment, it is necessary to explore what kinds of objects or situations humans feel contaminated and affect our actual responses, regardless of whether it is physically contaminated. In the present study, we tested whether disgust-related objects affect human attentional systems even when they are presented in artificial environments. Experiments included three tasks: the imaging task, the emotional dot-probe task, and the evaluation task. All tasks were conducted on a computer monitor. In the imaging task, the dish and the animal images were presented on the display. Participants were asked to imagine that the animal was actually on the dish. Next, in the emotional dot-probe task, the target was presented on the display following two dish images. Results showed that responses to the target that was presented on the position of the contaminated dishes were shorter than the target that was presented at the opposite sides of the contaminated dishes. This suggests that, even when the contaminated images are presented on a computer display, it influenced spatial attention, especially automatic attentional shifts. Potential implications for how cognitive and emotional processes affect human behaviors even in artificial environments are discussed.

The effective management and analysis of vast collections of digital images rely heavily on image indexing. This process facilitates image access through the creation of a textual description or digital signature using metadata and visual data such as color, shape, and texture. Manual and automatic indexing are two commonly used techniques for generating image indexing. This article explores the three main approaches used by current image retrieval systems, namely text-based, content-based, and ontology-based approaches. Specifically, this paper focuses on Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) systems, which rely on the visual content of images to search for corresponding images in a target image database based on their features. A comprehensive literature review of CBIR approaches is presented to demonstrate the advantages of this method for managing digital images. Additionally, this paper reviews the various applications of automatic image indexing, such as photographic archive management, Digitization of audiovisual archives, e-commerce, social media, and industry. Automatic image indexing can help in organizing products by category, improving product searches, and detecting inappropriate or offensive images.

Changes in epidermal thickness are linked to various skin diseases, such as diabetic foot. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), a noninvasive imaging technology, enables detailed visualization of skin layers. This study employed a deep learning approach using the U-Net architecture to analyze OCT images, specifically focusing on the stratum corneum (SC) and epidermis (ED) layers. Utilizing a dataset of 10,000 images, the U-Net model achieved 92 % accuracy in predicting SC and 95% accuracy for ED. These results highlight the potential of this method for accurate 3D visualization of SC and ED layers, paving the way for precise assessment of skin layer thickness and its changes in medical applications.

Digital twins have recently attracted attention from academia and industry as a technology connecting physical space and cyberspace. Digital twins are compatible with Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), enabling us to understand information in cyberspace. In this study, we focus on sound and design an architecture for a 3D representation of sound using a digital twin. Specifically, we organize the requirements for a digital twin for sound and design the architecture. We establish a method to perform 3D representation in cyberspace and map the recorded audio data in physical space. In this paper, we implemented the physical space representation using a smartphone as an AR device and employed a visual positioning system (VPS) for self-positioning. For evaluation, in addition to system errors in the 3D representation of audio data, we conducted a questionnaire evaluation with several users as a user study. From these results, we evaluated the effectiveness of the implemented system. At the same time, we also found issues we need to improve in the implemented system in future works.

This article examines the current state of the intelligent building monitoring system created for the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in the framework of the OPERE project and proposes a modification based on the Fog Computing paradigm. The study is developed in the context of the European regulations for the energy efficiency of facilities and the reduction of greenhouse gases. The current system implements the data processing in DADIS modules, developed by this research group for the acquisition and flexible transmission of information. These modules provide the information to the monitoring system which offers functionalities such as energy consumption dashboards, configurable operation schedules and ad hoc data visualization. However, the limitations of the current system include the difficulty in scaling the processing of the acquired information and database queries. The described upgrade proposes the extensive use of MQTT to standardize communications and allow the development of stand-alone applications to scale processing. The same architecture facilitates the incorporation of Big Data infrastructures that would solve even more complex query problems than those addressed in this scenario.
