We present a novel approach, which supports efficient visualization and set-theoretic difference operations for accurate geometric modelling in real-time simulations. The geometric operands can be in any representation as long as they are watertight and are convertible to an oriented point cloud. A novel region growing based fitting routine converts the oriented point clouds into a watertight piecewise quadratic implicit representation. During set-theoretic modeling these implicit representations are mapped to the fixed depth hierarchical grid of the resulting geometric model. Thereby a surface elimination algorithm removes parts not contributing to the final surface. This guarantees that the number of already performed modeling operations have only a minor performance impact on the algorithms processing the model. For visualization a novel ray casting based approach was developed, enabling interactive frame rates at Full-HD screen resolutions. The evaluation of the developed method proves its modeling performance and high geometric accuracy by means of the simulation of subtractive manufacturing examples.

Clouds have a huge impact on the energy balance, climate and weather of the earth. Cloud types have different cloud radiation effects, which is an important indicator of cloud radiation effects. Therefore, determining the type of cloud is of great significance in meteorology. In this paper, the Convolutional neural network with Squeeze & Excitation Networks (SENet) are mainly used to solve this probelm. CNN can automatically learn the filters that need to be manually set before, and can learn complex edge, spatial and texture information in the image which are difficult for traditional methods to learn and extract. Moerover, a website and a deep learning framework are established to showcase the results of this article and to further develop our models and methods through open source methods. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This paper designs a bionic sea turtle fin, which mimics the shape of the sea turtle's forelimbs and maintains an overall streamlined shape to reduce the resistance received by the outer side of the fin. This is of great significance and practical value for exploring new underwater propulsion methods and enriching and improving underwater propulsion technology. In terms of shape design, this paper uses Solid Works software to design the shape according to the contour of the sea turtle's forelimbs, and based on bionic principles, analyzes the flapping motion rules and propulsion mechanism of the sea turtle. To verify that the efficiency of the biomimetic turtle hydrofoil traction machine is higher than that of traditional traction machines, this study focuses on the optimization of the external shape configuration. The Flow simulation plugin within the Solid Works software is applied to perform computational fluid dynamics CFD) simulations on the biomimetic turtle hydrofoil traction machine. Analyze the impact of different distances and different pitch angles between the fins on the motion performance; set the calculation domain, boundary conditions, residuals, inlet velocity, and sea conditions, etc., and perform simulation experiments on the bionic sea turtle fin tractors with different distances and different angles; analyze the obtained velocity cloud diagram and pressure cloud diagram. The results show that the ocean current resistance received by the bionic sea turtle fin tractor is significantly less than that of the traditional tractor, which verifies the feasibility of the bionic fin and its good application prospects.

The electrification of transportation systems has emerged as a key component in achieving net-zero emission goals, leading to widespread adoption within the transportation sector. As a result of this rapid expansion, the aviation industry is also moving towards all-electric aircraft (AEA). An electric power system (EPS) with high power delivery and low system mass is essential for AEA. Cables play a crucial role in this future EPS, and one approach to reducing cable weight is to operate at a higher voltage. However, designing insulation systems for higher voltages is challenging due to the increased partial discharge (PD) activity in adverse aviation environments characterized by extremely low pressures and moisture. The development of multilayer multifunction electrical insulation (MMEI) systems has addressed these issues by providing higher breakdown strength compared to single-layer insulation systems. In our previous work, we designed several MMEI-based medium voltage direct current (MVDC) power cables (±5 kV) capable of operating at low pressures of 18.8 kPa, corresponding to an altitude of 12.2 km, which is the typical cruising altitude of wide-body aircraft, through modeling and simulation. This paper presents the experimental studies of the selected ARC-SC-T-MMEI design. The samples are manufactured, and their dielectric strength under DC voltage is tested at both atmospheric and low pressure. Additionally, the behavior of the insulation's dielectric strength under low-pressure conditions is investigated.

In the power industry, the defect detection of power equipment is gradually changing from the traditional manual inspection to intelligent fault identification. The number of substation defect image samples is small, the type is small, and the data is unbalanced. The lack of defect sample data sets in deep learning limits the generalization and accuracy of defect recognition algorithms. In view of the above problems, a simulation software design scheme for substation inspection image sample generation is proposed. The three-dimensional modeling is used to restore the scene and power equipment of the substation site, simulate various faults and defects that may occur in the equipment, and automatically mark the fault point and fault type. The simulation software can quickly generate a large number of substation defect image samples, which provides a new idea for the expansion and improvement of substation inspection image data set.

The research mainly focused on the effect of staff density and exit conditions on total evacuation time. The results showed that with the increase of staff density, evacuation time often increases non-linearly. The function equation of evacuation time and number of occupants in case A was obtained through computer simulation. The augment of exit number or total export width can reduce the total evacuation time to improve evacuation efficiency. While, if the number of evacuees reaches to a certain value, evacuation time may increase nonlinearly after being affected by the internal structure and the random distribution of occupant. Export position also has impact on total evacuation time. The results of the simulation have guiding significance on the design of building structures and personnel evacuation in emergency. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In order to optimize the pattern synthesis of multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) radar, immune mechanism is adopted to overcome the premature risk of differential evolution (DE) algorithm, namely immune differential evolution (IDE). Firstly, the modeling of MIMO radar is introduced by encoding the position of array in the binary. Secondly, the immune mechanism is employed to improve the DE. In IDE, two parameters are self-adapted for the mutation operator by immune mechanism to enhance the convergence ability of DE, including scaling factor and crossover rate. Several experiments are conducted to analysis the performance of IDE. The simulation results show that the IDE with variable parameters can get optimal results in MIMO radar with lower the peak side-lobe level (PSLL) and maintain the diversity with stronger convergence ability and shorter calculation speed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The scenery in nature is in many shapes and forms, and most of which have the characteristics of irregularity. The simulation of irregular scenery can be so complex that it has always been the difficulty and hotspot of computer graphics modeling. This paper focuses on the method of snow scene generation, and the simulation of snow scene is realized on the basis of OpenGL. First, the sky box technology is used to draw distant mountain scenery to Enhance the realism of the scene. Second, based on the principle of particle system, the scene of snowflakes drifting away is drawn. The basic idea is to describe the state of snow particles in terms of a large number of tiny particles. The shape, position, color, and other characteristics of snow particles change over time, and the dynamic change process of snow particles can effectively describe the movement trajectory of snowflakes. Third, the fractal tree is drawn based on L-system to enhance the beauty of snow scenery. On the basis of the central idea of fractal, the target string is generated by using an initial letter and generating rules, and then explain it geometrically to generate graphics. Based above, wind field model is added to study the swinging motion of trees. The whole scene generated in the end has the characteristics of randomness. The movement of snow is close to nature, and the generated fractal tree is vivid. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper outlines the design and implementation of a solar microgrid-specific high-gain DC-DC booster converter that makes use of a variable inductor and capacitors. To improve the suitability of photovoltaic (PV) panels for incorporation into microgrids, the proposed converter efficiently increases their low-voltage outputs. Conventional boost converters can't offer that kind of voltage increase because they lose too much performance and put too much strain on their internal components. The converter increases the voltage gain dramatically while maintaining a high degree of efficiency thanks to a switching inductor-capacitor network. The main breakthrough is an inventive multi-stage energy transfer and storage device that cleverly employs a switching inductor and capacitor. This configuration increases the output voltage while decreasing the voltage and current ripples, which in turn reduces the amount of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and increases the life of the components. Thorough assessments of the converter's working via theoretical modeling and simulation studies confirm its performance across several load and input situations common to solar microgrids. The prototype's testing findings show a significant voltage increase and a peak efficiency of over 95% when compared to traditional boost converters. Moreover, the converter's reliable performance over a wide range of voltage sources and workload scenarios proves its suitability for practical solar applications. As a result, the proposed high-gain boost converter will greatly improve the efficiency and reliability of solar microgrids, leading to a rise in the use of renewable energy sources in DGS.
