In recent years, with the advancement of remote sensing technology, there has been an increasing reliance on computer graphics to render terrain targets and obtain intuitive images. However, the lighting properties of material surfaces are crucial physical factors that impact the rendering effect, directly influencing the visual appearance of the target under various lighting conditions. This article delves into the diversity of materials and the intricacies of light reflection, examining the modeling methods and simulation effects of material surface lighting properties. By leveraging the intersection test results of objects and light, we employ the Blinn-Phong lighting model to introduce the optical characteristics of remote sensing target micro surface materials for simulation. Human-robot interaction (HRI) based assistive devices play a crucial role for individuals with severe disability, significantly impacting their quality of life. A pivotal step towards creating a more human-centric HRI involves gaining a thorough understanding of the user's mental load such as cognitive load, stress, and fatigue, which can influence the performance of the system. Previous studies have found pupil dilation as a potential candidate for exploring mental workload. This paper explores the impact of pupil diameter variation on performance during an eye-tracking-based robot navigation task. Nineteen healthy individuals participated in the experiment where they used eye-gaze to activate different navigational buttons on a computer screen to control the movement of a mobile robot on a predefined trajectory for two rounds. The variation of pupil diameter is correlated to various performance parameters such as lap completion time and number of commands. Results show that the difference between the Gaussian means of the pupil diameter distribution during round1 and round2 is significantly correlated (rho =0.5, p-value =0.03) with the lap completion time while the correlation with the number of commands is also found to be strong (r h o=0.45, p-value =0.05). These quantifications of pupil diameter variations with performance measures have the potential to play a vital role in advancing the HRI systems as they can be used to predict the performance variation in real-time so that the HRI can be more responsive to the user's changing mental states, a key requirement for the practical usability and acceptability of such systems as assistive technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

Most existing distributed simulation platforms lack native support for Python scripts, thereby hindering the seamless integration of AI models developed in Python. Some simulation platforms support script languages like Lua or javascript, but scheduling tasks in heterogeneous simulation platforms that are composed of simulation engine and script engine is a challenging problem. Moreover, conventional task scheduling methods often overlook the simulation time constraints, which are essential for simulation synchronization. In this paper, we propose a Heterogeneous Distributed simulation Platform (HDSP) that could integrate different script languages, especially Python, to empower the simulation by leveraging intelligent AI models. A Dynamic Multi-Objective Optimization (D-MO) Scheduler is also designed to efficiently schedule simulation tasks that run across heterogeneous simulation engines and satisfy simulation synchronization constraints. HDSP integrates various script engines, enhancing its adaptability to model dynamic simulation logic using different script languages. D-MO Scheduler optimizes simulation Acceleration Ratio (SAR), Average Weighted Waiting Time (AWWT), and Resource Utilization (RU). The D-MO scheduling problem is characterized as an NP-hard problem, tackled using the NSGA-III algorithm. The simulation time synchronization constraints are implemented through Lower Bound on Time Stamp (LBTS) and lookahead approach. The comparative results and statistical analysis demonstrate the superior efficacy and distribution performance of proposed D-MO Scheduler. The proposed HDSP and D-MO Scheduler significantly boost the capability to support Python-based AI algorithms, and navigate complex scheduling demands efficiently. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – Science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Using machine learning regression models for characterizing integrated circuits performance behavior may drastically reduce the costs associated to time consuming simulations and/or high licensing expenses of simulators in circuit optimization centered applications. To develop a machine learning model, a certain amount of simulation points is required in order to obtain an accurate surrogate model of the simulated circuit. Thus, efficient algorithms for minimizing the number of needed samples for creating such metamodels are highly desired. We explore this idea by using an active learning scheme to model multiple outputs of the integrated circuits resulting in a complete machine learning based characterization of the circuit's behavior. This can further enable other applications such as circuit optimization, pre-silicon verification or redesign. We validate this method on a batch of synthetic functions to provide a more complete overview of our active learning approach capability and also for an integrated circuit as study use case. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the blessings and obstacles of math modeling for wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). WSNs may be immediately evaluated on a performance basis or analyzed to address protection and reliability troubles. However, mathematical models ignore the sensors’ heterogeneity and the networks’ distributed nature. Similarly, the mission is to validate the results to ensure actual performance. Other WSNs that need attention and mathematical modeling include their management algorithms, optimizations, MAC protocols, power management, and *** comparison, sure advantages exist in math modeling, understanding complex problems, coming across new solutions and situations, and the capacity to expect effects. This paper aims to review the advantages and obstacles of math modeling for WSNs and concludes by providing hints on how WSNs can gain from mathematical modeling. Math modeling holds the splendid capacity for wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) because it comprehensively clarifies complex actual-global troubles. Math modeling offers an established framework to conceptualize, examine, and endorse answers for diverse WSN deployments. Its relative predictability and simulation accuracy can assist in perceiving hidden insights and generate reliable outcomes. Product Line Engineering (PLE) methodologies have already established their significance within the domain of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and are gradually being adopted in the industry. While Systems modeling Language (SysML) models are already pivotal as the Single Source of Truth in product development, the use of PLE methodologies has been limited, particularly in terms of simulation and validation. Our approach extends the application of PLE from the specification of complex product platforms to the simulation of individual products, ensuring a consistent view of variability across different development phases and artifacts. This is facilitated by the adoption of SysML version 2 (v2), the SysML v2 API, and a newly developed model transformation for the OMNeT++ simulation environment. The proposed methodology is validated through a feasibility study focused on a railway in-vehicle network system. The integration of SysML v2 with OMNeT++ creates a seamless workflow that supports the entire product development lifecycle, enhancing modeling capabilities and providing detailed insights into product performance and behavior. This approach not only manages the complexity of modern engineering systems but also ensures that aspects of product variability are consistently addressed. The study demonstrates the practical applicability and benefits of this approach, leading to more efficient, accurate, and high-quality product development. © 2024 IEEE.

The process of describing the distribution of impurities is described using two examples: phenomena in the bed of the Volga River in the northern section of the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain without a source under the influence of velocity fields and the flow of impurities from two sources. computer simulation is implemented on the basis of software developed using supercomputer technologies written using the CUDA software and hardware architecture. A mathematical model is proposed that describes the process of transfer of impurities in the aquatic environment. The process of developing and testing a software package is presented. The functionality of the created program allows you to predict the speed and range of propagation of various impurities in a continuous medium with a visual representation. The software package consists of two modules: calculation and visualization. The calculation module is implemented by transferring the computational load to the video card. The graphics module is implemented in Python. The results of numerical modeling of the distribution of pollutants in the Volga River bed are presented. The obtained result shows agreement with the real situation and the results of other researches. © 2023 IEEE.

In this research work, a discrete event simulation model (DES) is developed as a digital twin of the supply chain of Antarctic campaigns in a navy ship. This simulation aims to describe the system with all its details and complexity and, through this, support decision-making that identifies a supply chain configuration that significantly improves efficiency based on costs and operating times. For this, the Anylogistix simulation tool generates scenarios and visualizes results through charts and key performance indicators. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.
