Activities of daily living such as drinking and eating can be severely impaired for patients suffering from neurodegenerative diseases. One promising solution are assistive devices that apply corrective forces while still allowing the intended movements. However, real-time estimation of the required forces requires a detailed understanding of the limb's impedance characteristics. Here, we test and validate the stiffness response of a computationally efficient neuro-musculoskeletal arm model and its response to various force perturbations. We demonstrate that the arm model predicts stiffness characteristics that closely match experimental data recorded from humans and presents real-time applicability, allowing for implementation in practical scenarios and. Additionally, we predict the stiffness response for novel force levels and arm configurations. In the future, these predictions could be used to estimate corrective forces for assistive devices in real-time.

Several techniques have been introduced over the years to mitigate the effect of howling sound production in sound reinforcement applications. The algorithmic computational complexity of the howling controllers directly affects their implementability on resource-constrained hardware platforms. This work introduces a computationally cheap acoustic howling control algorithm that requires a single multiplication operation for its implementation. The algorithm was modelled, simulated and tested using MATLAB® to obtain its performance metrics. simulation results showed that the developed technique has average sound quality indices of 1.1746 and 1.2118 for speech and audio signals respectively. Also, for speech and audio signals, Maximum Stable Gain (MSG) Increase figures of 11.29 dB and 9.858 dB were obtained respectively. These results showed that, compared to the standard Adaptive Feedback Control (AFC) technique, the developed algorithm has comparable MSG Increase figures, negligibly small computational cost and low sound quality. This result implied that the howling controller can be easily implemented on a resource-constrained hardware platform at the expense of some degradation in sound quality.

This article presents a comprehensive study on the design, simulation, and programming of a mechatronic device for the precise application of polymer coatings to flat parts. The device utilizes a two-coordinate system controlled by NEMA 17 motors to position the spraying mechanism accurately. The objective is to achieve a uniform and controlled deposition of the polymer, improving the coating quality and overall efficiency of the process. The simulation of the mechatronic device is performed using advanced modeling techniques, allowing for a virtual representation of its mechanical components and their interactions. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the device in achieving the desired coating outcomes while minimizing material waste and processing time. To realize the functionality of the mechatronic device, a customized control program is developed using a suitable programming language. The program enables the device to receive input instructions, such as a black and white image representing the desired coating pattern. The program processes the image, extracting the relevant information, and generates control signals for the motors and polymer spraying mechanism. These control signals govern the precise movement of the two-coordinate system and the activation of the spraying mechanism at the appropriate locations, ensuring an accurate replication of the desired coating pattern. Experimental validation of the mechatronic device is conducted using physical prototypes, where the programmed control algorithm is implemented on an Arduino microcontroller. The experimental results highlight the device's reliability, repeatability, and robustness in achieving consistent and high-quality coatings on various flat parts. The presented mechatronic device offers significant advantages in terms of precision, efficiency, and automation in the application of polymer coatings. Cooperative perception system is essential to address occlusion and small object perception issues in autonomous driving. However, autonomous vehicle (AV) perception methods based on deep learning rely on large-scale and accurately annotated traffic datasets. Compared to real datasets, which are difficult to collect and annotate and limited in quantity and diversity of scenes, the virtual dataset synthesis method is a convenient and efficient approach. To improve annotation accuracy while speeding up modeling, we propose a pipeline for constructing artificial traffic scenes and generating virtual datasets based on autonomous driving simulation software from a parallel vision perspective. Furthermore, to facilitate the development of cooperative perception, we propose a novel efficient traffic scene dataset for V2V cooperative perception named Large-Scale Traffic Virtual Dataset (LSTV-V2V). Our dataset contains 47 traffic scenarios, 8380 frames, and 191864 annotated 3D vehicle bounding boxes. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our virtual dataset in cooperative perception tasks.

Halide-based perovskites show immense promise as efficient, affordable, and easily-fabricated flexible solar cells. But ensuring their long-term stability and establishing them as environmentally friendly, lead-free alternatives is still a real challenge. Therefore, in this work, Rubidium Silicon Fluoride $(\mathbf{RbSiF}_{\mathbf{3}})-\mathbf{based}$ Pb-free perovskite solar cells (PSCs) were numerically modeled and studied using the Solar Cell Capacitance Simulator (SCAPS-1D). Here, a novel cell architecture, $\mathbf{ITO}/\mathbf{PCBM}/\mathbf{RbSiF}_{\mathbf{3}}/\mathbf{CuI}/\mathbf{Au}$ , has been proposed, where a novel material, $\mathbf{RbSiF}_{\mathbf{3}}$ , is explored as an absorber layer with an optimum thickness of 800 nm. After analyzing and optimizing several parameters like thickness, bandgap, and metal work function of back contact, it was found that this PSC shows: 0.9140V as voltage at open circuit (Voc), $\mathbf{23.70}\ \mathbf{mA}/\mathbf{cm}^{\mathbf{2}}$ as short circuit current density (Jsc), 82.20% fill factor (FF), and 15.23% efficiency (PCE). Besides, to achieve higher efficiency from the proposed PSC structure, series resistance should be very small, but shunt resistance should be kept high, and an optimum temperature of 27°C has to be maintained.

To enhance the operational speed of robots and minimize energy expenditure, a majority of Delta parallel robots employed in the industry have a lightweight design. At high operating speeds, the lightweight construction of Delta robots often causes elastic deformation and vibration. Traditional analysis and control methods for rigid robots do not ensure positioning accuracy of the Delta robot. To address this problem, in this paper we have chosen the WSC-600DJ Delta robot as the subject of our research. Our focus is on analyzing the robot's rigid-flexible coupling dynamics. Firstly, the active and passive arms of the Delta robot are made flexible using Hypermesh software. And then, the rigid-flexible coupled dynamics model of the Delta robot is established in Adams program. Finally, the end effector trajectory is planned in MATLAB using the modified sinusoidal correcting keystone acceleration curve. The driving angle of each active arm is determined via inverse kinematics solutions, which then is imported into Adams for simulation. By comparing the results of modeling the rigid-flexible coupled dynamics of the Delta robot with the theoretical trajectories of the rigid model, we are able to estimate the positioning errors of the robot's actuators caused by the elastic deformation. The results of this study establish a foundation for designing a high-accuracy control system for this particular robot model.

News has been playing a major role in our day-to-day life in educating, informing, alerting, and even entertaining people. In our research, we aim on classifying news articles as adult news and kid news with a view to providing age-appropriate news. News classification as adult news or kid news is done by news article analysis. For fulfilling our target, we developed our news dataset and constructed two different models: one using Long short-term memory(LSTM) and the other using Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers(BERT). The LSTM model achieved an accuracy of 94.84% and the BERT model managed to reach an accuracy of 95.68%, which is a bit higher than the LSTM model for news classification.

Ferromagnetic tubes are widely applied in fossil power plants such as waterfall tubes, overheat tubes or reheating tubes. Outer surface corrosion, wearing, depth reduction, cracks are common defects during manufacturing and long term operation. Eddy current detection is a traditional method for the examination of surface and near surface defects. However the efficiency is restricted by lift-off effect and skim effect. Far field eddy current overcomes the above disadvantages with high efficiency and fast examination speed and high sensitivity. In this paper, numerical simulation has been carried out to study the far field eddy current Detection for defects in small diameter ferromagnetic tubes in fossil power plants. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

With the progression of technology, the automobile industry has experienced a significant transformation due to the emergence of Electric Vehicles (EVs). EVs offer a sustainable means of transportation that doesn’t harm the environment. The decline of global oil reserves and the detrimental effects of air pollution caused by conventional motor vehicles have motivated numerous researchers to explore alternative energy sources for vehicle propulsion. This study aims to investigate power flow calculations to ensure that the amount of electrical energy aligns with the requirements of the electric vehicle. Using MATLAB/Simulink software, a model of a small electric vehicle is designed to achieve optimal power flow response within the EV energy system and this article outlines the process of modeling an Electric Vehicle using MATLAB and Simulink, elucidating different components such as the Motor Model, Battery Model, Power Model, and Regenerative System. By employing Simulink, the designed Electric Vehicle is simulated, and important metrics such as Motor Torque, Vehicle Speed, and State of Charge of the Battery are calculated using a given Driving Cycle. The collected data is then analyzed to enhance the model’s performance.
