This study characterizes the mixing processes within microscale confinements in three-phase microfluidic systems designed for droplet generation. Finite Element modeling (FEM) was employed to analyze droplet formation and mixing efficiency using the Laminar Flow, Ternary Phase Field, and Transport of Diluted Species modules in COMSOL Multiphysics. The numerical simulations revealed that specific microfluidic channel designs significantly impact mixing efficiency within droplets. A serpentine channel architecture enhanced mixing efficiency by up to 15% compared to a straight channel design. In curved channels, Dean instability created vortices, significantly enhancing mixing within droplets. Varying flow rates also affected the mixing process: initial flow rates of 0.2 µl/s for water, 0.2 µl/s for BSA solution, and 0.02 µl/s for oil (1:20 ratio) resulted in steady phase distributions with limited mixing, while adjusted flow rates of 0.2 µl/s for water, 0.2 µl/s for BSA solution, and 1.4 µl/s for oil (3.5:1 ratio) induced a droplet generation regime, enhancing mixing efficiency. Optimized channel designs and flow rates are crucial for achieving homogeneous environments in microdroplets, essential for individual cellular and molecular studies.

This paper is aimed at looking in to solve the robot navigation problem. This problem is treated using two techniques. It has been found that the fuzzy logic system is able to navigate the autonomous mobile robot in an unknown environment. In the same way, the neuro-fuzzy is used to adjust the consequences parameters of fuzzy controller in order to drive the khepera IV robot to the target, with an optimal and safe trajectory. A comparative study is made to show the performance of the Adaptative Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) against fuzzy logic controller (FLC). simulation results are given to demonstrate the satisfactory of the developed techniques.

This paper focuses on the problem of secure communications in a D2D-underlaid cellular network, where device-to-device (D2D) communication operates in a hybrid manner using both millimeter-wave (mmWave) and microwave frequency bands. To combat vigilant adversaries, we employ the technique of covert communication to conceal the presence of legitimate D2D transmissions. The D2D transmitters employ power control, communication-mode switching, and leverage the cellular signals to evade detection by adversaries. The conflict situation between the D2D transmitters and the adversaries is modeled as a Stackelberg game. To mathematically characterize the network’s spatial configuration, we utilize the stochastic geometry modeling and consider a large-scale D2D-underlaid network, enabling a system-level analysis of communication strategies. We analyze the game equilibrium and thereafter search for equilibrium by using a bi-level algorithm. Insightful findings are drawn from numerical simulation results.

Sea ice is a difficult object to study due to its heterogeneous structure and location near the melting point. This paper proposes a model of ice ridges as a heterogeneous structure with multiple water and air inclusions, free boundaries and free sliding contact boundaries. The dynamic growth of cracks in a given heterogeneous structure under intense dynamic influences is considered, which makes the considered boundary value problem nonlinear. The influence of explosion parameters (location of sources, frequency, number of periods) on the nature of the destruction of the ice ridges was investigated. The work also investigates the collision of an ice island with ice floes. For calculations, the grid-characteristic method is used on structured rectangular computational grids. (C) 2021 The Authors.
