Investigating the anisotropy of response from fractured media through computational experiments plays an important role in seismic exploration for oil and gas. This paper shows the possibility of studying the anisotropy of the seismic response from a fractured zone using a continuum model with slippage and delamination. We varied four parameters of this model and obtained conclusions about the anisotropy of the seismic response depending on the direction of the fractures in the fractured zone. For the calculation, we used the grid-characteristic method on structured regular computational grids. To assess the anisotropy of the seismic response, we have introduced and used 12 anisotropy parameters based on the norms L-1 and L-infinity.

Magnetic confinement fusion may one day provide reliable, carbon-free energy, but the field currently faces technical hurdles. In this position paper, we highlight six key research challenges in the field of fusion energy that we believe should be research priorities for the Machine Learning (ML) community because they are especially ripe for ML applications: (1) disruption prediction, (2) simulation and dynamics modeling (3) resolving partially observed data, (4) improving controls, (5) guiding experiments with optimal design, and (6) enhancing materials discovery. For each problem, we give background, review past ML work, suggest features of future models, and list challenges and idiosyncrasies facing ML development. We also discuss ongoing efforts to update the fusion data ecosystem and identify opportunities further down the line that will be enabled as fusion and its data infrastructure advance. It is our position that fusion energy offers especially exciting opportunities for ML practitioners to impact decarbonization and the future of energy.

The paper formalizes the development of methods of infological modeling and documentary description of simulation polyergatic testing of complex properties of materials. Predictive solutions determine the endurance and service life of modes that affect the level of safety of traffic flows in a nonstationary environment. A mathematical description of the basics of polyergatic control of automated processes of creating materials of pair discourse is given. The interdependencies between the objects of interaction in the spatiotemporal continuum are algebraized. Process-infological models of predicative definition of groups of composite elements, which guarantee unambiguous decision-making, within the limits of interface initialization of IT, are formalized. Expert tasks with indicative target control accelerate the stages of thermodynamic reaction and guarantee the quality, accuracy, reliability, reliability of promising modes of operation of composite *** polyergatic production organizations, automation tools areproposed that implement modes of control of symbolic and analyticaltransformations, which perform step-by-step robots. © 2021 IEEE.

Automated agriculture has significantly transformed farming techniques, encompassing a wide range of activities like sowing, reaping, and packaging crops. These cutting-edge solutions have substantially decreased the reliance on human manpower while significantly improving the overall effectiveness of farming. The pivotal role in the success of these automated systems is played by robotic arms, which can be meticulously programmed to carry out particular tasks swiftly and with precision. This high level of precision is pivotal in elevating crop yields while reducing labor expenses. Among the various components of harvesting robots, the end-effector emerges as the linchpin due to its direct physical interaction with the fruit, exerting a substantial influence on the overall harvesting performance. The design considerations associated with the end-effector, which encompass aspects such as the clamping mechanism and the pneumatic control system, are paramount when it comes to successfully integrating harvesting automation. In this study, we delve into using Siemens NX for tasks such as 3D modeling, assembly, and simulation to facilitate the design and motion control to automate the harvesting process of tomatoes using the end effector. Our extensive simulation endeavors using Siemens NX have yielded auspicious outcomes, conclusively affirming the practicality and effectiveness of our end-effector design for tomato harvesting. These favorable findings serve as a robust foundation for the real-world implementation of our innovative end-effector design, offering enhanced efficiency and productivity in tomato harvesting.

computer simulation of the dustiness in the blind drift of coal mine was carried out. The most probable scenario for the occurrence of dustiness in the blind drift of coal mine, during the operation of mining combine, connected with the shutdown of the irrigation system due to clogging of nozzles, is determined. In this case, the determining factor affecting dustiness is the ventilation mode of operation and the associated air flow rate in the mine. The Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) software package of computational fluid dynamics is proposed to be used. The calculations were performed using the Large Eddy simulation (LES) turbulence model, in the approximation of low Mach numbers (Ma <0.3) (subsonic approximation), the Deardorff model for calculating of the turbulent viscosity, and the model based on the discrete-path Euler-Lagrange method for describing of the two-phase flow. Analytical dependencies and initial data for modeling were determined: geometric parameters of the blind drift, ventilation and dust emission parameters, dispersed dust composition, initial conditions. The adequacy of the computer model developed was verified on the basis of experimental data obtained by testing the dynamics of dust aerosols at the test bench - "MGU Shakhtpozhservice" LLC. The adequacy of the developed computer model is confirmed based on satisfactory agreement of the simulation results with experimental data. The results of dustiness modeling in the blind drift were analyzed. The distribution of the coal dust mass concentration over the blind drift cross sections for various air flow values of 2.4, 3.6 and 4.8 m(3)/s is shown. The concentration of coal dust in the area of local ventilation fan jet action is significantly higher - up to 1.8 g/m(3) for suspended dust than in the translational movement zone with permissible value of 150 mg/m(3). The dependences of the concentrations for suspended and precipitated coal dust along the length of the blind drift were obtained. As a

In recent years, due to the uncertainty of the external environment;increasing number of functions performed;development of the element base;widespread introduction of information and communication technologies, technical systems have sharply complicated. Complication of systems has made it very difficult, if not impossible, to study them using mathematical apparatus. Analytical description led to inadequate results, which served as a basis for making bad decisions. In connection with the said, at the end of the twentieth century the creators of systems began to use more and more actively the methods of computer modeling. The experience of teaching the theory of complex systems in the higher school shows that not enough attention is paid to consideration of computer modeling methods. In conditions of economy digitalization, such situation is unacceptable, as the future specialist should know and possess these methods. Recent works attribute the capability of in-context learning (ICL) in large pre-trained language models to implicitly simulating and fine-tuning an internal model (e.g., linear or 2-layer MLP) during inference. However, such constructions require large memory overhead, which makes simulation of more sophisticated internal models intractable. In this work, we propose a new efficient construction, Transformer in Transformer (in short, TINT), that allows a transformer to simulate and finetune more complex models during inference (e.g., pre-trained language models). In particular, we introduce innovative approximation techniques that allow a TINT model with less than 2 billion parameters to simulate and fine-tune a 125 million parameter transformer model within a single forward pass. TINT accommodates many common transformer variants and its design ideas also improve the efficiency of past instantiations of simple models inside transformers. We conduct end-to-end experiments to validate the internal fine-tuning procedure of TINT on various language modeling and downstream tasks. For example, even with a limited one-step budget, we observe TINT for a OPT-125M model improves performance by 4-16% absolute on average compared to OPT-125M. These findings suggest that large pre-trained language models are capable of performing intricate subroutines. To facilitate further work, a modular and extensible codebase for TINT is included.

In this paper, we describe 3D finite-element models for the study of billets used in pipe rolling and made of steel sheets thicker than 25 mm. Relying on 3D modeling with the MSC Marc software package, we study how several alternatives of lowering the upper roller of a traditional profile affect the geometry of the resulting pipe billet and, also, the distribution of deformations and stress during the bending process. We manage to reduce the computation time for a 3D model with a finite element mesh containing more than one million nodes, which is possible through multi-threaded computation distributed over the nodes of a computing cluster. The main load during the first pass of a bending tool with a traditional profile is exerted on local areas of the outer surface of the pipe billet. Those areas are located on the border of the edges and the chamfers of the weld groove. Plastic deformation occurs on them and leads to local thinning of the pipe billet. We suggest alternatives for changing the profile of the bending tool to create additional contact pads during the bending process.

Comprehensive and rigorous testing plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of automated driving systems (ADS), nonetheless, testing on the road is unsafe and costly. simulation testing can solve the high cost and insecurity, but the performance of simulation testing is heavily dependent on, as well as limited by, the simulation platforms. This paper carries out an extensive comparison study on the commonly used simu-lation platforms in ADS testing. Advantages and disadvantages of the commonly used simulators such as CarSim, CarMaker and AirSim are compared from aspects like virtual environment generation, critical scenarios creation, types of supported sensor, as well as control of traffic participants.

This work proposes the control of an are suppression device (ASD) using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) based proportional-resonant controller. Neutral point voltage control has been performed to reach zero voltage at the faulty phase, thereby achieving sufficient suppression of the fault current so that the sustainment of the arc becomes impossible. Therefore, the probability of a powerline bushfire has significantly reduced. The advantage of voltage control-based regulation of ASD over current injection-based control is that the performance of ASD is independent of the fault resistance. At first proportional-integral (PI) controller was designed for the outer voltage and inner current control loop using the PSO algorithm. Then, the design is extended to the proportional-resonant (PR) controller for the voltage control loop and the PI controller for the current control loop. The PSO-PR voltage controller enabled a better tracking of the reference voltage and ensured reduced fault current than classical PI and PSO-PI-based design. The integral time absolute error (ITAE) cost function achieved using PSO-PR was 83.12% less than the classical PI controller and 36.32% less than the PSO-PI controller. The modeling and simulation of the system have been performed in MATLAB/Simulink platform.
