The availability evaluation of tactical communication network can help the army to optimize the network capability and improve the network availability to meet the higher requirements of the business. In this paper, by analyzing it, a strategy for tactical subnet availability is proposed. Using Monte Carlo fault driven method and Markov mathematical modeling method, the availability simulation of tactical communication hierarchical subnet is studied, and a modeling example is given. This strategy has a certain reference value in the availability test and inspection of tactical subnet. © 2020 IEEE.

Growing population, economic and energy crises quest for alternative ways to achieve the daily energy requirements in household and commercial sectors. Solar energy is the first choice due to its accessibility, abundance and environmentally friendly nature. The use of solar thermal collectors is increasing over time due to the green aspects of solar thermal energy. In this study, a dynamic method based on Transient Systems simulation Program (TRNSYS) modeling examines the performance of solar thermal-based domestic hot water (DHW) system for Lahore (31.5204° N, 74.3587° E), Pakistan. This dynamic approach allowed us to monitor system performance daily and yearly. The simulation is performed with a flat plate solar collector of an area of 10 m 2 and a tank of 0.6 m 3 volume. To achieve the daily DHW consumption profile of an average dwelling in Lahore, an auxiliary electric heater is employed to manage the hot water needs at night and on overcast days. The average solar fraction of 80% is obtained for the whole year. The system fulfills hot water requirements during the winter season with the assistance of solar energy equipped with auxiliary heating. Maximum values of auxiliary energy were observed in January (1347 J/hr) and December (1248 J/hr), with lower values of solar fraction during winter.

Increased resilience compared to monolithic architectures is both one of the key promises of microservice-based architectures and a big challenge, e.g., due to the systems’ distributed nature. Resilience assessment through simulation requires fewer resources than the measurement-based techniques used in practice. However, there is no existing simulation approach that is suitable for a holistic resilience assessment of microservices comprised of (i) representative fault injections, (ii) common resilience mechanisms, and (iii) time-varying workloads. This paper presents MiSim — an extensible simulator for resilience assessment of microservice-based architectures. It overcomes the stated limitations of related work. MiSim fits resilience engineering practices by supporting scenario-based experiments and requiring only lightweight input models. We demonstrate how MiSim simulates (1) common resilience mechanisms — i.e., circuit breaker, connection limiter, retry, load balancer, and autoscaler — and (2) fault injections — i.e., instance/service killing and latency injections. In addition, we use TeaStore, a reference microservice-based architecture, aiming to reproduce scaling behavior from an experiment by using simulation. Our results show that MiSim allows for quantitative insights into microservice-based systems’ complex transient behavior by providing up to 25 metrics.

The present paper represents the analytical calculation and computer simulation of motion of nanosatellite that in polar system of coordinates are structured. In particular, the paper asks whether possible to simulate the problem gets the initial orbital altitude and eccentricity of trajectory. GUI in MATLAB designed to distinguish between these explanations are described. The results indicate that perigee distance, apogee distance, focal parameter, radius-vector, angle of true anomaly will change to describe trajectory of nanosatellite which is presented in 2D animation. These findings provide opportunity to calculate and model such type of problems using adapted user-friendly interface. © 2020 ACM.

Tuberculosis could be a spreadable disease of the chest. Different TB control activities have been propelled by the World Health Organization in various countries. In order to analyze TB, specialists regularly recommend a chest X-ray (CXR), which is less costly and time-consuming than the current sputum tests and Tuberculosis Skin Tests (TST). Diverse analysts have carried out assignments using profound learning and exchange learning models for the location of tuberculosis. The precision of the current writing, be that as it may, is confined, and the method is cumbersome and time-consuming. Diagnosing tuberculosis could be a significant task that requires a high level of accuracy. Minor demonstrative mistakes can have disastrous impacts. The extreme objective of this study is to utilize deep learning methods to distinguish TB at the suitable time and to help in early treatment to help combat the rising number of diseases. Planning an independent framework that can give a speedy choice and essentially kill demonstrative mistakes is vital. Diverse layers, counting conv2d, maxpooling, flatten, and dense layers, are present within the proposed show. The model's accuracy score of 88% will help the therapeutic community in creating more successful techniques to combat this malady.

Traffic congestion is a significant and recurring issues in today’s urbanised world, caused by an increase in the number of vehicles. While vehicle density fluctuates on temporally short and geographically small scales, efficient traffic signaling system helps in avoiding traffic congestion. An inefficacious traffic system can lead to congestion and delays resulting in high pollution, and fuel wastage. The Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) method provides an excellent approach to solve the problem involving complex relations such as traffic flow and congestion. Recent development in Deep Neural Network (DNN) further enhances the learning capabilities of an agent with complex real-time data. The paper presents an intelligent Traffic Light Control System (TLCS) built on a Deep Q-Learning (DQL) model that accurately represents the problem’s components: agents, environment, and actions. The proposed model aims to minimize the traffic queue length and delay in terms of waiting time. The model is implemented using simulation of Urban MObility (SUMO) for traffic generation in an urban scenario. The performance of the proposed model is compared with a traditional traffic light control system. The simulation results show that the proposed DQL-based model can significantly reduce the delay compared with the traditional model.

Financial transactions between humanitarian aid donors and recipients form a network that can inform our understanding of how resilient these efforts are collectively. This is particularly critical considering that certain humanitarian "crises" can span years or even decades, leading to donor fatigue in already chronically underfunded situations. We focus on refugee and migrant situations in Greece and Colombia to highlight the disparity between the humanitarian aid networks in responses that have each stretched beyond five years. We observe these financial networks over time to show that they grow through preferential attachment, with large nodes/actors remaining prominent as the years go on. Drawing on the insights from network resilience and foreign aid literature, we highlight the role that private donors play in Greece in providing some robustness to long-term humanitarian responses with no end in sight. Donor diversity appears to play some role in closing the funding gaps, even as need and funding requests for humanitarian response increase over time. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

Improvised explosive devices are mainly used to cause harm and terror. Explosive ordnance disposal technicians detect and safely neutralize improvised explosive devices. Due to their nature, improvised explosive devices pose an inherent risk to explosive ordnance disposal technicians. To minimize the risk associated with improvised explosive devices, explosive ordnance disposal technicians receive extensive training in working with explosive ordnances in various forms. Training often involves mock scenarios designed to simulate real-world conditions and can involve specialized equipment such as “disruptors” that fire live ammunition against a simulated improvised explosive device. While this training format is valuable, it still involves the expenses associated with the environment setup and equipment used during the training. Because of that, only a limited number of training sessions can be conducted. In this paper, we propose Universal simulation Platform, a software based on virtual reality technology that can be used for improvised explosive device neutralization training. This simulation software allows for customized scenarios implemented by participants or any organization intending to deploy the software. Participants in each simulation can interact with the virtual environment while trying to neutralize or mitigate the impact of the improvised explosive device under various conditions and settings.

Neutron radiation, common in space-environments and reactors, can have a profound impact on the performance of integrated circuits (ICs) containing silicon bipolar transistors (BJTs). To model the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics in these environments, it is crucial to study neutron-induced defect distribution and its effects on carrier transport. Several studies [1] [2] model post-radiation behavior of BJTs by adjusting carrier-lifetimes within the base of the BJT structure. Lifetime fitting studies provide only a basic understanding of the gain degradation of BJTs in the presence of neutron radiation, but cannot capture changes in the ideality-factor should they be observed in gain degradation measurements on irradiated BJTs. Furthermore, the existing studies were performed on discrete BJTs, which are generally different from BJTs integrated in a circuit (IC). To address these research-gaps, we isolated lateral pnp and vertical npn BJTs in several LM741 Op-amp ICs and performed a 14 MeV neutron-irradiation study on those structures. Gummel-sweeps revealed an increase in base current, an expected result, which also included a change in ideality-factor as a function of fluence. To understand the underlying physics, TCAD simulations were used to fit the measured I-V characteristics before and after neutron irradiation. Our simulation results show that the ideality-factor relies heavily on the fluence dependent carrier lifetime, especially in low voltage regime. This carrier-lifetime depends on the spatial and energy distributions of those traps. Different trap-distributions were used in both the depletion and neutral region of the base to model the experimentally observed change in ideality-factor with increasing neutron fluence.
