Apache Spark is one of the most popular, widely used and open-source distributed processing framework that can process huge site datasets in time efficient manner due to its in-memory computational capabilities. However, there are several factors that can affect the performance of an application which include the nature and size of the input dataset, computational capability of the system and nature and design of the algorithm. Hence, there are different parameters that are required to correctly predict the execution statistics of a Spark application which include execution time of jobs, stages and tasks, memory requirement and usage at the execution level and I/O cost in the form of read/ write shuffling of data. To address these challenges, a simulation and machine learning based prediction model is presented in this paper that takes only a few initial samples of execution statistics and predicts the performance and execution statistics of the Spark application with high accuracy. The proposed model is evaluated on the Wordcount application and Spark standalone mode and accuracy metrics show that the proposed model achieves high accuracy in predicting execution statistics.

This paper use fuzzy extension analytic method to solve the problem of location selection of logistics center. First, establish an evaluation system. There are three first-level indicators at the criterion level, which are social benefits, economic benefits, and infrastructure, and nine second-level indicators at the sub-criteria level. The extension analytic method is used to compare all the factors corresponding to the layer to the first factor and use the number of extension intervals to compare them in pairs, so as to construct a judgment matrix for the extension interval and find the weight vector. Further hierarchical ranking is performed. Secondly, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is used to determine the factor set and evaluation set of influencing factors, and the evaluation matrix is established. The primary element is used to determine the evaluation model. First-level evaluation is performed on each logistics center to obtain a second-level evaluation matrix. The model comprehensively evaluates the two-level evaluation matrix, and then ranks the evaluation levels of each which introduces extension theory, considers human ambiguity, uses interval numbers instead of specific numbers to construct a judgment matrix. The example proves that the ranking is more practical and provides a theoretical basis for site selection. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Qiantang River Poetry Road has rich literary aesthetics and profound cultural connotations. The display and dissemination of its culture is of great significance for shaping the city's characteristics, publicizing the city's image, and promoting Chinese culture. However, many foreign tourists come to Zhejiang to travel due to lack of tour guides and other reasons. They can only watch the natural and humanistic scenery in a fancy way, but it is difficult to appreciate the spiritual connotation of the poetry road culture. From the perspective of virtual reality (VR), this paper develops a display and display that combines visual, auditory, and tactile senses through three-dimensional modeling, simulation algorithms, graphics rendering, virtual humans, multi-modal interaction, mini-map navigation and other VR technologies. The VR system to spread the culture of Qiantang River Poetry Road: The poetry soul is the companion, and you can enjoy the Qianjiang River. The system gives full play to the advantages of VR's high immersion and high interaction, and integrates more than a hundred ancient poems into various scenes of Qiantang Poetry Road. In VR, users can freely roam the ancient and modern Qiantang River basin in the first person, interacting with the virtual person "Soul of Poetry" as a virtual tour guide, the virtual poet who left the poem, and the local virtual people. After the user's test, the system can provide a relaxing, realistic and interesting roaming experience, which provides the possibility of digital display and dissemination for the promotion of the city's image.

This paper proposes a novel integrated discriminant model using the UCI urban land cover dataset. Remote sensing image classification uses computers to perform feature processing and model classification of pictures obtained by satellite remote sensing. In order to achieve accurate land type classification, the current research mainly focuses on extracting features from pictures and how to train models to achieve classification based on features. This paper proposes a novel method for the latter, using Random Forest, SVM, Naïve Bayes, and KNN, these four supervised machine learning algorithms to train each set of data extracted from the different coarser scales of the original image and compare the prediction accuracy of algorithms. The algorithm that performs best at the corresponding scale data is used as the model at that scale. Finally, judging each model's prediction weights the results to obtain the final result. Experiments have shown that the model performs superiorly on all scales compared to existing methods.

The Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of vehicular services have become more and more stringent in intelligent connected vehicles. Hence, the Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) mechanism has been utilized in IEEE 802.11p to achieve multi-class QoS for the Internet of Vehicles. Recently, some analytical models have been developed to evaluate the performance of the IEEE 802.11p. Nevertheless, most works are under the assumption of ideal wireless channels and infinite buffer sizes that are not realistic for vehicular networks’ operating environments. In this paper, we propose an analytical model for IEEE 802.11p with bursty error transmission based on the Queuing Theory. Especially, the transmission queue is modelled as an M/G/1/N queueing system. The accuracy of this model has been validated by a set of simulation experiments based on ns-3 and SUMO. The model can be used as a cost-effective tool to investigate the performance of 802.11p under various network conditions.

Numerical simulations are peformed to model the dynamic motions of a free floating body exposed to water waves. The solid body has low freeboard and draft, and its upper deck can be washed by the steep waves. Thus, the green water phenomenon occurs as large waves interact with the floating body. The aim of the research is to improve the understanding of the green water emerging above the upper deck of a floating plate. A thin floating body with barriers is also modeled. For the case of the body equipped with barriers, no green water occurs. Green water has been seen to affect the wave field and the dynamic motions of the plate. It is observed that when water can wash the upper surface of the floating object, drift speed is slightly decreased as a proportion of the energy of waves is dissipated above the body. Water waves are seen to impact the upper surface of the thin floating body as the green water flows over its upper deck. Furthermore, water is seen to impact the plate as its front edge re-enters the water. The first water impact only occurs when the floating body is not equipped with any barrier. By sampling the numerical simulations, it is observed that the non-dimensional value of the impact pressure, resulting from the green water, is larger for the case of smaller wavelength.

In this paper, we consider a discrete private and expressed (synchronous and asynchronous) opinion dynamics model with competitive relationships. Unlike the usual agent-based opinion dynamics models, competition between individuals is investigated in a social media network. The expressed opinions, or states of the individuals in the network, are represented by asynchronous dynamics, where each individual has a choice to express his/her opinion at each time step. Each agent uses a Q-earning algorithm to decide when to express its opinion with the purpose of swaying the opinions of other connected agents to a desired outcome. The private opinions, or states of the individuals, are derived from a combination of their own private opinions and the expressed opinions of connected agents. The dynamics of the social media environment are modeled by private and expressed, both asynchronous and synchronous, opinion dynamics model. The system is investigated for polarization or consensus under different conditions. To illustrate the results, simulations of the system dynamics are provided.

Exploiting the offshore wind resources using floating offshore wind systems at sites with deep water depths requires advanced knowledge of the system behaviour, including the hydro-, areo-, and mooring dynamics. To that end, high-fidelity numerical modelling tools, based on Computational Fluid Dynamics, can support the research and development of floating offshore wind systems by providing high-resolution data sets. This paper presents the first steps towards the numerical modelling of tension leg platforms for floating offshore wind applications using the open-source Computational Fluid Dynamics toolbox REEF3D. The numerical model of a taut-moored structure is validated against experimental reference data. Results from wave-only test cases highlight the simplicity and effectiveness of the wave generation method, implemented in REEF3D. For the considered wave-structure interaction cases, deviations between the experimental and numerical data can be observed for the surge and pitch displacements, while the heave displacement and the mooring forces are capture with sufficient accuracy. Overall, the numerical results indicate high potential of REEF3D to be used for the modelling of floating offshore wind systems

We present a virtual reality (VR)-based learning platform that allows the exploration and experimentation with industrial colloborative robot manipulators. Students can immersive themselves into virtual scenarios with robots’ that are otherwise difficult to realize in physical classroom environments. Behavior and functionality can be explored comprehensively. For this purpose, the VR learning application is equipped with a variety of interaction mechanics that enable the portrayal of a range of different tasks. A network integration allows for multiple users to be present in the virtual environment simultaneously. Additionally the VR application contains a library of different industrial robots that can either act autonomously controlled by machine learning agents or be controlled based on the kinematics-based simulation. The application is specifically designed to serve as a learning tool that can be iteratively extended to fit the requirements of different robotics-related courses.

Deep learning has been widely used for network traffic classification, but they are vulnerable to well-designed adversarial examples. From the attacker's point of view, a new method is proposed to attack network traffic by combining one-pixel modification of the tabu search algorithm (OPTS). Through OPTS algorithm, one pixel interference is added to the gray image of network traffic, which is difficult to be recognized manually, and makes the LeNet-5 convolutional neural network used by defender output wrong classification results. A series of simulation experiments based on the Moore dataset show that the OPTS method can efficiently generate network adversarial examples with one pixel changed. Compared with the mainstream adversarial attacks, the OPTS algorithm achieves better performance with less modified bytes, which provides a new method for generating adversarial examples.
