Location based social network develops and gets widely concern along with the population and widespread use of mobile. Point of interest(POI) recommendation become one of the most widely application among location-based service. To get better POI recommendation performance, a fuzzy clustering based collaborative filtering algorithm (FCCF) for time-Aware POI recommendation is proposed in this paper. It first constructs the user feature vector from users' check-in behaviours. Individual's check-in behaviour can be under the influence of location region and time slots, so user's feature consists of two parts. One is the vising frequency of each user in different location regions, and the other is the vising frequency of each user in different time slots. Next fuzzy c-means is adopted due to its simplicity to group users according to user feature vector. Then the user similarity computation can be limited in the similar small user groups. In the end, a collaborative filtering algorithm is applied to recommend a number of top-N POIs at a given time for the target user. Some experiments are conducted and the comparative results on Foursquare and Gowalla show that FCCF has higher precision and recall value than the comparative algorithms. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Stress is a psychological disorder that affects every aspect of life and diminishes the quality of sleep. The strategy presented in this paper for detecting cognitive stress levels using facial landmarks is successful. The major goal of this system was to employ visual technology to detect stress using a machine learning methodology. The novelty of this work lies in the fact that a stress detection system should be as non-invasive as possible for the user. The user tension and these evidences are modelled using machine learning. The computer vision techniques we utilized to extract visual evidences, the machine learning model we used to forecast stress and related parameters, and the active sensing strategy we used to collect the most valuable evidences for efficient stress inference are all discussed. Our findings show that the stress level identified by our method is accurate is consistent with what psychological theories predict. This presents a stress recognition approach based on facial photos and landmarks utilizing AlexNet architecture in this research. It is vital to have a gadget that can collect the appropriate data. The use of a biological signal or a thermal image to identify stress is currently being investigated. To address this limitation, we devised an algorithm that can detect stress in photos taken with a standard camera. We have created DNN that uses facial positions points as input to take advantage of the fact that when a person is worried their eye, mouth, and head movements differ from what they are used to. The suggested algorithm senses stress more efficiently, according to experimental data. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Gradient-based algorithms are crucial to modern computer-vision and graphics applications, enabling learning-based optimization and inverse problems. For example, photorealistic differentiable rendering pipelines for color images have been proven highly valuable to applications aiming to map 2D and 3D domains. However, to the best of our knowledge, no effort has been made so far towards extending these gradient-based methods to the generation of depth (2.5D) images, as simulating structured-light depth sensors implies solving complex light transport and stereo-matching problems. In this paper, we introduce a novel end-to-end differentiable simulation pipeline for the generation of realistic 2.5D scans, built on physics-based 3D rendering and custom block-matching algorithms. Each module can be differentiated w.r.t. sensor and scene parameters; e.g., to automatically tune the simulation for new devices over some provided scans or to leverage the pipeline as a 3D-to-2.5D transformer within larger computer-vision applications. Applied to the training of deep-learning methods for various depth-based recognition tasks (classification, pose estimation, semantic segmentation), our simulation greatly improves the performance of the resulting models on real scans, thereby demonstrating the fidelity and value of its synthetic depth data compared to previous static simulations and learning-based domain adaptation schemes.

Recent advancements in distributed data storage, colloborative processing capabilities, and their architectural design have a profound influence on our daily lives, simplifying the process of hosting computation-intensive software applications. A single software hosting device, for instance, an Onboard Computation Unit (OBCU) of an autonomous vehicle, on the other hand, can’t keep up with the growing need for diverse requirements of computing architectures and processing power of such applications. For example, the real-time handling and generation of HD maps is one such crucial and highly computation-intensive application for autonomous vehicles. For this purpose, an efficient solution is to rely on the computing power of adjacent resource-rich nodes. Hence, the use of a latency-aware predictive analytics-based computation task offloading method has a vital significance, especially with the advent of Vehicular Edge and Fog Computing (VEFC). VEFC models pool redundant computational resources in close proximity. It, however, faces several challenges. The stochastic nature of vehicular networks, intricate heterogeneity at several levels, and the uncertainty of time-sensitive applications for the timely completion of tasks impede the VEFC’s efficiency. We developed a computation offloading framework that timely alleviates the computing-resource-deficit devices by deploying vehicles as fog-nodes commensurate with the minimum latency requirements of advanced vehicular applications, especially computation-intensive HD map handling, and generation in real-time. Our technique is a greedy heuristic method that works in small, discrete steps instead of solving the entire optimization problem holistically. We used Monte Carlo simulation to show that our approach had an overall response time of under-300 milliseconds compared to other baseline methods.

Industry 4.0 has imposed new challenges and oppor-tunities to engineering education in robotics and control systems. The concept of the digital twin can be partially implemented with the use of virtual robots that incorporate 3D models and numerical simulations of the dynamical behaviour. This work presents the development of a virtual 3D SCARA robot which requires an external controller for the joint and kinematic motion control, this was implemented as a tool for teaching and learning robotics and control. The virtual 3D robot incorporates a novel numerical simulation that combines the Newton-Euler dynamic equations with the Rayleigh energy dissipation equation to consider the viscous friction. The developed virtual robot can be implemented in a real time simulation scheme connected to an external controller and used as an educational tool in a virtual robotics laboratory.

As one of the most important and stressful steps towards gaining employment, job interviews are a social barrier that poses a unique challenge for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). There are existing tools and in-person training available that show promise. However, these solutions are limited in the degree to which they can collect performance data, provide specific feedback, offer options to intelligently customize training, and simulate a variety of interviews in a realistic manner. InterViewR is a mixed reality job interview training simulator that addresses these shortcomings to reduce barriers in entering the workforce. The integration of Virtual Reality and wearable smart technology enables users to practice customizable interview simulations and receive both real-time and retrospective feedback. Findings are reported from a cognitive walkthrough (N=33) that highlights areas that need to be considered when designing such interview training platforms for individuals with autism.

This paper adopts a new method, the parameters of commercial optically-pumped cesium beam tube (OPCBT) are simulated by computer. We focus on flow and distribution of cesium atoms ejected from the cesium oven of OPCBT, point out the quantitative relationship among the oven temperature, the amount of cesium atoms and the life of cesium beam tube, which provides a theoretical basis for the design of OPCBT structure. At the same time, 3D modeling is carried out, the C-field distribution and microwave field distribution are simulated by computer, which is helpful to understand the relevant parameters intuitively.

The Kinetic Battery Model is a well received and frequently utilized modeling approach to simulate batteries. In combination with an equivalent circuit model it is possible to account for various non-linear effects of the battery's behavior and improve the current-voltage representation accuracy. However, this coupled approach has not been applied to model storage units on a system level yet, i.e., storage devices of large capacities which are subject to more complex control algorithms via battery management systems. Therefore, in this work we present a method to apply this hybrid model to a valve-regulated lead-acid home-storage system. We outline difficulties arising in the parametrization process, extend the approach by implementing a straightforward control logic and compare the simulation results to an implementation with a solitary equivalent circuit model. Hence, we discuss thoroughly the benefits and challenges utilizing the concept to adequately simulate larger storing units. © 2020 ACM.

In the medium and long-term electricity direct transactions, electricity retailers account for most of the demand-side market. Study the bidding behavior of electricity retailers is of great significance for evaluation of market model and trading rules. The article analyzes the main factors that affect the bidding behavior of electricity sales companies from three aspects: the market environment, market rules, and the electricity supplier's own factors. Based on this, comprehensive consideration of the asset background, operating objectives, retail contracts and other factors of the power retail company, an agency bidding model was established, which covering three types of typical power retail companies, including expansion, stability, conservativeness and price acceptance. And the RE-learning algorithm is used to optimize the bidding strategy. Finally, the bidding model is verified by a simulation example. © 2020 IEEE.
