Service science and engineering play an important role in service economy. User reviews on software platforms offer direct insights into user attitudes toward software packages, serving as invaluable sources for assessing software quality. However, there is a lack of effective methods or tools to analyze the quality attributes that are of most concern in user reviews, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of software packages in terms of quality. This paper introduces ISOftSentiment, a hybrid tool developed to overcome this challenge and facilitate efficient evaluation of software package quality attributes based on user reviews. ISOftSentiment integrates a sentiment analysis model with the ISO/IEC 25010 product quality model and a fuzzy consensus mechanism. This integration processes user reviews to produce a quality sentiment matrix, which not only summarizes the quality analysis results but also highlights the consensus sentiment for relevant quality attributes. The matrix provides insights into both the strengths and weaknesses of software packages. Based on these insights, software engineers gain a clearer understanding of a package's quality and trustworthiness, thereby making more informed decisions during the software selection or evaluation process and avoiding the use of unreliable components. Consequently, this tool ensures that the final product maintains high standards of quality.

Usually, mature Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects are developed by a team of various members, such as data engineers, data scientists, software engineers and machine learning (ML) engineers. They often pursue highly heterogeneous approaches, leading to new challenges in collaboration, particularly regarding software quality, data versioning and the traceability of model metrics and other resulting artifacts. These challenges are further intensified when AI projects rely on dynamic datasets, introducing an entirely new dimension that teams must deal with. Adopting principles from the machine learning operations (MLOps) paradigm becomes essential in this context. To go beyond existing process models and develop actionable guidelines, our work introduces a Git workflow for AI projects. We present basic instructions for data and code while outlining a minimal infrastructure setup. Building upon abstract concepts, we delve into concrete, actionable steps by examining the proposed branching workflow. Through a case study, we apply the development methodology to two use cases and demonstrate that the principles and approaches positively impact project outcomes.

Maritime transportation business suffers from trust issues and burdensome paperwork. Blockchain-based smart contracts are a promising solution. Due to the nature of the blockchain, it is important to verify smart contracts before deployment, especially for its functionality and legality. In this paper, we propose a verification framework that automatically verifies the functionality and legality requirements of maritime transportation smart contracts. Smart contracts of an application, based on a set of templates, are modeled in a network of timed automata;domain-specific requirements are collected and formulated as temporal logic formulas;real-time model checking tool UPPAAL is then used to check whether these requirements are satisfied. We carry out experiments on nine real-world smart contracts to show the effectiveness and feasibility of our framework. We also compare our work with existing tools to show its effectiveness and efficiency.

Generative AI has lately started being used in the softwareengineering process. Developers are relying on ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or other tools to accelerate the development process. Previous works have provided an overview of the tools and have compared their capabilities. Nevertheless, the relation with software reuse in the framework of Generative AI has not been examined extensively. In this work, we are studying how generative AI techniques respond to and affect software reuse, with an emphasis on software licensing issues and end-users' data privacy. We are using the following five tools: OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini, GitHub Copilot, TabNine and Amazon CodeWhisperer. We provide an overview of the tools and previous works that have used them when examining code generation, discuss the implications on software reuse, and use a simple front-end use case to showcase how they respond on licensing and end-users' data privacy issues. This work introduces also a conceptual model that can help in improvements in the discussed reuse aspects.
