Several technologies and tools have been proposed to assist rehabilitation team in performing exercises. They can help rehabilitation specialists to manage more patients when practicing their exercises, either in presence or remotely. They also make it possible to support patients to do parts of the program at home. Few contributions deal with supporting to the engineering of training platforms for post-stroke rehabilitation. Designers and developers of training platforms for post-stroke rehabilitation do not have a conceptual framework to rely on to develop training Hardware (HW)/software (SW) platforms. Furthermore, the development and implementation of training platforms for post-stroke rehabilitation requires being able to engineer training platforms with multiple HW and SW components and to engineer coordinated and relevant connections between these components. This paper describes the MUMR (Multi User Multi Role)-MIODMIT technique to design the architecture of the interactive systems for post-stroke rehabilitation training. This technique is based on the MIODMIT description technique for the architecture of interactive systems and enables to describe the main aspects of a post-stroke rehabilitation training platform. The proposed technique is applied to two examples of rehabilitation training platforms.

Nowadays, most software teams use Scrum as their software development process framework. Scrum highly values collaboration and communication inside the team and aims to make them more flexible to spontaneous changes. However, due to the rise of working from home, many developers experienced a significant decrease in communication, social interactions, and a general feeling of social connectedness with their colleagues, which might impede the effectiveness of Scrum teams. To overcome these issues, we present a VR collaboration platform for Scrum meetings, called Virtual Reality-based Agile Collaboration Platform (VRACP). VRACP provides the visualization of and interaction with Scrum artifacts inside a realistic virtual office, the integration and synchronization of external data sources, remote collaboration, and human-like user representations. To evaluate whether VR can increase social connectedness in agile software development teams, we conducted a user study where our solution was compared to common web/desktop applications for Scrum meetings. The results suggest that although efficiency and effectiveness were reduced, it could indeed increase the feeling of being together, collaborating more naturally, and having more fun and motivation.

Large language models (LLMs) based on transformer architecture have revolutionized natural language processing (NLP), demonstrating excellent capabilities in understanding and generating human-like text. In softwareengineering, LLMs have been applied in code generation, documentation, and report writing tasks, to support the developer and reduce the amount of manual work. In software Testing, one of the cornerstones of softwareengineering, LLMs have been explored for generating test code, test inputs, automating the oracle process or generating test scenarios. However, their application to high-level testing stages such as system testing, in which a deep knowledge of the business and the technological stack is needed, remains largely unexplored. This paper presents an exploratory study about how LLMs can support system test development. Given that LLM performance depends on input data quality, the study focuses on how to query general purpose LLMs to first obtain test scenarios and then derive test cases from them. The study evaluates two popular LLMs (GPT-4o and GPT-4o-mini), using as a benchmark a European project demonstrator. The study compares two different prompt strategies and employs well-established prompt patterns, showing promising results as well as room for improvement in the application of LLMs to support system testing.

Analyzing software productivity has been one of the main goals of softwareengineering research since its beginnings, especially in the software cost estimation field. Many studies have been conducted on various factors that resulted in several models for analysis and prediction of productivity. However, productivity is still an issue in software development and cost estimation. This paper presents a software productivity analysis method, introduces how to build the related metric elements, and illustrates the results through our analysis using a quantile-based scale measure (QSC). The results can guide further study and as the basis for building productivity models and software cost estimation.

Unprecedented global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a widespread transition to Work-From-Home (WFH) arrangements for project teams, posing significant challenges in conveying requirements within agile Requirements engineering (RE). While numerous studies have examined the impact of transitioning work routines during the pandemic, limited research exists on the specific challenges of agile RE operating within the WFH context. Given the pervasive shift in the software development ecosystem worldwide, where WFH is projected to persist even in the post-COVID era, it is imperative to ascertain the challenges associated with WFH-based agile RE. During the pandemic, we collaborated with startups to conduct an industry-academia project. By adopting the methodology of action research, this study comprehensively analyzed agile RE practices and reported the key challenges encountered within the WFH context. To mitigate these challenges, several collaborative RE techniques were employed in three intervention cycles. Interviews were conducted to thoroughly analyze the results. This study also provides insights into collaborative RE techniques and valuable lessons learned. Considering the increasing prevalence of WFH as a working mode in the post-pandemic era, this study equips the community with practical strategies to navigate agile RE challenges and better prepare for unprecedented challenges in the future.
