The problem of person re-identification, identifying the same person appeared in different camera views, is an important and challenging task in computervision that has high potential application in areas like visual surveillance. In this paper we introduce a new feature fusion strategy for person re-identification that combines low-level Weighted Histograms of Overlapping Stripes (WHOS) features with mid-level color name descriptors and we adopt KISSME algorithm for person matching. Experiments on several public person re-identification datasets (VIPeR, i-LIDS and CAVIAR4REID) demonstrate that our approach achieves much better results compared with other state-of-the-art approaches.

This paper concerns a problem of the latency reduction in the vision-based mobile robot navigation, which is considered as the crucial system property to determine a control command based on visual data in practical deployments of mobile robots. The problem is addressed by a processor centric FPGA-based System-on-Chip design allowing power and computationally efficient on-line imageprocessing. The proposed architecture is considered in an autonomous vision-based navigation with a teach-and-repeat algorithm based on detection and tracking of image salient points. The architecture has been evaluated and compared with a CPU-based solution on different platforms and the results indicate that the proposed FPGA-based implementation outperforms pure CPU solutions in the overall latency, speed, and power consumption.

Currently artificial intelligence combined with computervision has helped in performing daily activities, the current tendency of semi-autonomous vehicles assisted by artificial intelligence and computervision has created a new field of imageprocessing research. The imageprocessing to support autonomous route tracking systems they have been tested in controlled media. In this investigation we perform the implementation of a system of guide and trajectory tracking in real scenarios (not controlled media) as road and city streets. Propose a new method for detecting lines as the Hough transform, in a simple and efficient for the detection of lane on a mobile manner. With the above determined whether or not the vehicle conserves his lane by opening angles of triangles detected with the mobile camera, to support and assist the driver. The methodology is tested to determine its performance qualitatively and quantitatively.

The development of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as pedestrian detection, requires real-time update rates at high image resolution. Hopefully, heterogeneous architectures with high computing performance have been developed for this purpose. To benefit from this hardware performance, different programming languages and acceleration frameworks have been developed. OpenVX framework provides a graph-based execution model to program imageprocessing algorithms on heterogeneous platforms. In this work, we investigate OpenVX optimizations for computervision applications. We examine how this framework responds to different data access patterns. We test three important optimizations of OpenVX: kernels merge, data tiling and parallelization via OpenMP. The contribution and the impact of each optimization on different data access pattern are explained.

The computervision systems are mainly devoted for production monitoring in quality inspection systems. It is the fastest growing and most popular non-invasive product defects detection method. The productivity of electronic components growth and their prices decline creates favorable conditions for the development of imageprocessing systems for industrial production. The food industry is one of the main industries. Production volumes grow along with human population growth. Containers for food industry are made in very large quantities and demand on quality inspection system plays important role. An automated computervision system was developed for the control of PET preparation quality. The implementation of the designed system was presented in this article. The system used for imageprocessing algorithms to inspect the lateral and upper parts of the workpiece. The system is designed according to its operating parameters. Reached throughput is 10,000 workpieces per hour.

This paper describes a method for calibrating non-overlapping cameras in a simple way: using markers on the cameras. By adding an AR (Augmented Reality) marker to a camera, we can find the transformation between the fixed AR marker and the camera's center. With such information, relative pose of cameras can be easily found as long as the marker located on them is visible. Our method consists of the following two steps: (1) use an extra camera and a chessboard to find the transformation between the AR marker and the camera center. (2) Use the information from (1) and transformation between different markers to calibrate non-overlapping cameras. Compare to other non-overlapping calibration methods, our method can work with as less as one image and does not suffer from the degenerate cases.

image enhancement is the process of modification of digital images in order to make quality resultant images such that those can be subjected to further manipulation (like further image analysis). There are several ways to implement image enhancement techniques. In this paper, we have studied a number of image enhancement methods consisting of binarization techniques and hybridization of such techniques. After applying those methods on scanned Bangla document images, we have analyzed the reconstructed images. Then, we have gone for the quantitative analysis portion. To accomplish that, we have measured the recognition rate and then examined the improvement ratio of the unprocessed samples versus reconstructed images in terms of recognition rate. Our analysis critically emphasizes the requirement to apply image enhancement methods. This study will certainly help the researchers to select appropriate image enhancement method(s) for processing low quality Bangla printed document images.
