The patterns of Human Epithelial type 2（HEp-2） cell provide useful information for the diagnosis of systemic autoimmune ***, the recognition of cell patterns requires manual annotation by experienced physicians, which is subject to inter-observer ***, an automatic diagnosis system is *** the crucial pre-processing step for cell pattern recognition, the performance of cell segmentation is *** this paper, a novel adaptive local thresholding approach is proposed to solve the *** approach divides cell images into overlapping sub-images and applies adaptive threshold estimator to each of *** ICPR 2014 HEp-2 cell datasets are employed to assess the segmentation performance of our *** results show that the system achieves an average segmentation accuracy of 66.95%, which outperforms the typical thresholding approaches.

This paper presents an online handwritten benchmark dataset (OHWR-Gurmukhi) for Gurmukhi script. TIET, Patiala released the unconstrained online handwriting databases, OHWR-GNumerals and OHWR-GScript, which contain isolated strokes samples produced by 190 writers. The OHWR-GNumerals covers 10 stroke classes and OHWR-GScript covers 95 stroke classes to represent the Gurmukhi character set. For data collection, two data sets of Gurmukhi words have been finalized after having a consultation with language experts in order to collect the balanced stroke samples. The preprocessing methods used to prepare these datasets include: size normalization, removing duplicate points, interpolating missing points and re-sampling. The purpose of this benchmark is to create a common platform and make the benchmark dataset publically available for research endeavors in the area of online handwriting recognition. This paper discusses the use of image processing technique to detect lizards in a video stream. We discuss the categorization of form perception, human perception, and animal perception. The sub-categories of them are briefly discussed. We defragmented the video into a total of 3459 images, some are with only background scene, some contains lizard. We discuss how we apply background subtraction to segment out the lizard, followed by experiments comparing thresholding values and methods. We achieve an encouraging average hit rate of 98% and average computation time of 1.066 seconds.

Texture analysis has been an important research area due to wide range of applications in the field of image processing, machine vision and pattern recognition. In this paper, we present a comprehensive analysis of texture descriptors for texture classification. We focus on state of the art texture descriptors which have been widely used for classification in literature and shown promising results. These descriptors comprise of Local Binary Patterns (LBP) and its various extensions, Gabor wavelets and fractal analysis which are invariant to scale, orientation and illumination. Some of the benchmark texture databases have been used for the extraction of features for each descriptor and then the classification performance was achieved using K-nearest neighbor (KNN) classifier. All texture descriptors performance is then compared and analyzed in detail. It has been observed that Local Binary Pattern generally outperforms other descriptors on three out of fours datasets.

In the face of the continuously deteriorating traffic environment, this research studies the key technology of automatic navigation target detection for visual vehicles. The image collected by binocular vision system is carried out with real-time processing, and MATLAB is used to simulate analysis of the related algorithms. It verifies that the method of combining threshold segmentation and morphological processing can effectively segment part of a road;quantitative symmetry obstacle calculation method can effectively detect the obstacles and achieve the automatic driving of intelligent vehicles for the purpose of effective obstacle avoidance.

In order to efficiently recognize actions from depth sequences, we propose a novel feature, called Global Ternary image (GTI), which implicitly encodes both motion regions and motion directions between consecutive depth frames via recording the changes of depth pixels. In this study, each pixel in GTI indicates one of the three possible states, namely positive, negative and neutral, which represents increased, decreased and same depth values, respectively. Since GTI is sensitive to the subject's speed, we obtain energy-based GTI (E-GTI) by extracting GTI from pairwise depth frames with equal motion energy. To involve temporal information among depth frames, we extract E-GTI using multiple settings of motion energy. Here, the noise can be effectively suppressed by describing E-GTIs using the Radon Transform (RT). The 3D action representation is formed as a result of feeding the hierarchical combination of RTs to the Bag of Visual Words model (BoVW). From the extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets, namely MSRAction3D, DHA, MSRGesture3D and SKIG, it is evident that the hierarchical E-GTI outperforms the existing methods in 3D action recognition. We tested our proposed approach on extended MSRAction3D dataset to further investigate and verify its robustness against partial occlusions, noise and speed.

The application is an augmented virtual reality application where the user is recognized at close range and can virtually try clothes. The unique point about this application is the fact that there'll be image processing and computer vision used to determine size of shirt and waist and so on of a person using the Kinect V2 perceptual computing kit rather than just allowing the user to try on virtual clothes. These clothes can be showcased online among the friends or can be directly used for printing and manufacturing the shirt using CO_2 laser from a robotic arm which is out of scope of this paper. The modelling of cloth which is supposed to be augmented on the virtual human body is being designed with competent geometric algorithms rather than just relying on Gaming or Motion Control Frameworks. The results are tested on latest Kinect V2 sensor which provides user a compelling experience to opt for. The paper initially overviews the major technical components for complete virtual try-on system, followed by elucidating several key challenges such as calibration of Kinect and estimation of measurements for individual subjects like outfits, etc. Eventually we discuss key details of the implementation using Kinect V2. Quality of these steps is the key to achieve seamless try-on experience for users.

In recent years, tremendous progresses have been made in research on basic principle of visual cortex information processing, which bring wide attention to bottom-up visual attention system, some models have already been established successfully and been applied to image processing and machine vision. This essay aims to expatiate the seven kinds of currently most representative bottom-up visual significance algorithm models, summarize and compare the advantages and disadvantages of these algorithm models, explain the results of these algorithm models on different categories of images, and provide some thinking and suggestion on possible future development and research direction of bottom-up visual attention models.

Modern industrial cameras mainly use the Bayer pattern as color filter array (CFA). However, this filtering limits the resolution of the color space. As interpolation methods cannot reconstruct the original image perfectly, they have to be optimized for a specific application. Therefore, the interpolation should match the purpose of the image processing system. Many standard algorithms are optimized for the subjective impression of a human observer which is not necessarily ideal for industrial applications. This paper introduces a new methodology for evaluating interpolation algorithms in industrial applications. For this purpose, a new dataset based on printed circuit boards as representatives for objects in industrial application is introduced. It shows many distinct features which are typical for industrial scenarios such as high contrast object edges, highly reflective materials and low variety of surface colors. Furthermore, two new error measures based on edge accuracy are presented which are tailored to many measurement tasks which employ edges. It can be shown in an evaluation of common CFA interpolation algorithms that these new error measures are better suited to identify the best interpolation algorithm for retaining edge accuracy than conventional error measures.

Aim at the agaricus bisporus postharvest automatic classification problem, this paper designed a kind of agaricus bisporus grading system based on machine vision, the system is mainly composed of machine vision system,mechanical system, automatic control system three parts, and analyzed the key technologies involved in every part. Extracted the feature parameters from the mushroom cap color, mushroom cap area and mushroom stem three aspects,combined with the classification standard, the final classification result is given by using edible fungus intelligent recognition platform, and then control the robot grabbing the agaricus bisporus into the corresponding classification box, the rate of accuracy reached over 88%. The results show that using machine vision based automatic grading system for the agaricus bisporus classification is feasible.
