In order to realize the leading role of machine vision in intelligent cargo handling of the robot, a fusion method of visual image edge detection based on wavelet transform and mathematical morphology is proposed. That wavelet transform is used for image edge detection exists missing detection, smoothness and weak edge problem. So an improved method needs to be studied, in which a wavelet transform and improved mathematical morphology are respectively used to extract the edge of the original image, and then a fusion of two methods is done to obtain a better edge detection after threshold processing. Comparing the proposed algorithm with several classical edge detection algorithms, the experimental result shows that edge detection method proposed in this paper can effectively reduce the influence of noise and to a certain extent enhance the weakening edge, improve the accuracy of the image detection.

Many conventional methods aimed at improving visibility in low turbid water. In this paper, we propose a novel contrast enhancement to enhance high turbid underwater images using descattering and color correction. The proposed enhancement method removes the scatter and preserves colors. In addition, as a rule to compare the performance of different image enhancement algorithms, a more comprehensive image quality assessment index Q(u) is proposed. The index combines the benefits of SSIM index and color distance index. Experimental results show that the proposed approach statistically outperforms state-of-the-art general purpose underwater image contrast enhancement algorithms. The experiment also demonstrated that the proposed method performs well for image classification.

Reproducibility of research is an area of growing concern in computervision. Scientific workflows provide a structured methodology for standardized replication and testing of state-of-the-art models, open publication of datasets and software together, and ease of analysis by re-using pre-existing components. In this paper, we present initial work in developing a framework that will allow reuse and extension of many computervision methods, as well as allowing easy reproducibility of analytical results, by publishing datasets and workflows packaged together as linked data. Our approach uses the WINGS semantic workflow system which validates semantic constraints of the computervision algorithms, making it easy for non-experts to correctly apply state-of-the-art imageprocessing methods to their data. We show the ease of use of semantic workflows for reproducibility in computervision by both utilizing pre-developed workflow fragments and developing novel computervision workflow fragments for a video activity recognition task, analysis of multimedia web content, and the analysis of artistic style in paintings using convolutional neural networks.

This paper aims at exploring the opportunities from the most recent development from computervision area from the online shopping experience perspective. We discussed the possibility of extracting meaningful information from images and apply this to the online recommendation system to improve online customer shopping experience. Implications to both researchers and practitioners are discussed. The contribution of these papers are twofold, firstly, we have summarized the state-of-the-art of the computervision development in the online shopping recommendation system, especially in the fashion industry;secondly, we have provided some potential research gaps for on how computervision method could be used in the information systems field.

This work proposes a fully automated approach for vision-based quality control of manufactured metal rods. The proposed approach is able to detect the features of the rod (holes) and calculate the curvature of the object versus specifications. The proposed algorithm utilizes a single mono-ocular image. Initial results show that the proposed algorithm can operate under various camera geometric setups, as well as illumination conditions and backgrounds. This methodology is capable of processing an image in less than 0.2 second, using a general purpose laptop. Thus, we provide the capability for real time processing of manufactured parts on a moving conveyor.
