This paper mainly discusses the application of computer visual technology in embedded image recognition system. We propose and realize a new system called automatic recognition system of analog display instruments using computervision. After the brief introduction of the characteristics of computer visual technology and embedded system, this paper analyzes the principles and the developing status of computer visual technology used in embedded system, proposes the automatic recognition system of analog display instruments using computervision, which is on the basis of the application characteristics. Its working principles are just like the principles of the visual system of human being, "analyzing" the images "viewed" by the system, and obtaining the information needed. This paper designs the software and hardware system through focusing on the digital imageprocessing technology and the application circumstances of the embedded system. The following key problems have been studied: how to realize automatic recognition of analog display instruments, how to solve automatic judgment of different kinds of indicator dial, how to eliminate disturbance cased by light and circumstances while exact result, how to realize the image collecting with high quality while low cost, how to improve the efficiency of data collection and image recognition( speed and accuracy) and how to correspond the each module design in hardware and software to improve the system's performance and stabilization. Recently. computervision is playing an important role in many essential applications, such as medical image analysis, visual surveillance, etc. Many of these applications are subject to a "real-Time constraint", therefore it requires a fast and reliable computation system. Edge detection is the approach used most frequently for segmenting images based on changes in intensity, it extracts important structural information needed for high-level functionality and reduces the amount of data that needs to be processed. There are various kernels employed to achieve edge detection, such as Sobel, Robert, and Prewitt, upon which, the most commonly used is Sobel. This paper introduces a novel type of operator cells on the Reconfigurable Static Data-flow Architecture (RSDA), which is a scalable architecture optimized for the computation of image and video. This enhancement shows significant improvement, as it decreases the computational 26%, compared to using the conventional adder cells, and also decreases the LUTs and hardware resources of the architecture. A comparison between the conventional adders and different types of compressors has been exploited based on results from simulation on Isim simulator and a flooring plan using PlanAhead tool.

We formulate multiple object tracking (MOT) as a Generalized Maximum Multi Clique problem (GMMCP) without any simplified version in problem formulation or optimization, which makes full use of image evidence. Afterwards, we solve the GMMCP through Mixed Binary-Integer Program (MBIP) and obtain the final motion trajectories of the multiple objects. In order to improve the algorithm's performance, we employ Aggregated Dummy Nodes (ADN) and modify the feature of object appearance. We performed experiments and evaluated our algorithm on three video sequences including TUD-Stadtmitte, TUD-Crossing and Parking-Lot 2. We compared our method with some state-of-art methods and showed that the algorithm we proposed performs an excellent precision in multiple object tracking.

Landing aerial crafts, such as helicopters, on the board of naval vessels of small or medium size is a difficult and risky task for pilots since the tonnages are not large enough which makes the ships always swinging along with ocean waves. Thus the landing areas are moving all the way with six degrees of freedom randomly. Even, this mission will become dangerous and deadly when the weather is stormy. Here, we design a real-time and automatic position sensing system to track, locate and help a helicopter to land on deck safely under all weather conditions. For the sake of practical application, we have not only adopted some ready and mature computational technologies from imageprocessing, photogrammetry and computervision, but also chosen some simple but effective optical elements to reduce the computational complexity. The system is composed of camera units, image-processing unit, controlling system and fiber optical communication unit. Experimental results show our system is capable of all-weather, real-time, robust and automatic landing mission.

We present the results of analyzing gait motion in first-person video taken from a commercially available wearable camera embedded in a pair of glasses. The video is analyzed with three different computervision methods to extract motion vectors from different gait sequences from four individuals for comparison against a manually annotated ground truth dataset. Using a combination of signal processing and computervision techniques, gait features are extracted to identify the walking pace of the individual wearing the camera as well as validated using the ground truth dataset. Our preliminary results indicate that the extraction of activity from the video in a controlled setting shows strong promise of being utilized in different activity monitoring applications such as in the eldercare environment, as well as for monitoring chronic healthcare conditions.

Convolutional neural networks (CNN) are widely used in computervision, especially in image classification. However, the way in which information and invariance properties are encoded through in deep CNN architectures is still an open question. In this paper, we propose to modify the standard convolutional block of CNN in order to transfer more information layer after layer while keeping some invariance within the network. Our main idea is to exploit both positive and negative high scores obtained in the convolution maps. This behavior is obtained by modifying the traditional activation function step before pooling. We are doubling the maps with specific activations functions, called MaxMin strategy, in order to achieve our pipeline. Extensive experiments on two classical datasets, MNIST and CIFAR-10, show that our deep MaxMin convolutional net outperforms standard CNN.
