Human activity recognition is one of the method to model human behaviors and activity patterns. The works have becoming a significant research interest in recent years for various applications such as for assisted living and healthcare. This paper will reviews some of the related works based on stochastic methods or well known as probabilistic method to classify human activities which are focusing on kitchen activity. However, many challenging issues need to be reviewed in order to design and implement these technologies. The main purpose of this review is to extensively identify the existing method and characterize the literature in a manner that brings key challenges of future probabilistic method to meet the demand of cultures and social of Alzheimer's patient in Malaysia.

Agriculture sector plays a key role in the economic development of India. The task of fruit grading is vital in the agricultural industry because there is a great demand for high quality fruits in the market. However, fruit grading by human is inefficient, labor intensive and prone to error. The automated grading system not only speeds up the time of processing, but also minimizes error. There is a great demand for tomatoes in both local and foreign markets. The tomato fruit is very delicate and hence careful handling of this fruit is required during grading. Thus, this paper proposes an automatic and effective tomato fruit grading system based on computervision techniques. The proposed quality evaluation method consists of two phases: development of hardware and software. The hardware is developed to capture the image of the tomato and move the fruit to the appropriate bins without manual intervention. The software is developed using imageprocessing techniques to analyze the fruit for defects and ripeness. Experiments were carried out on several images of the tomato fruit. It was observed that the proposed method was successful with 96.47% accuracy in evaluating the quality of the tomato. (C) 2016 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. In the Disk Diffusion Antibiotic Sensitivity test (The Kirby-Bauer test) a thin film of bacteria applied on a plate is subjected to various antibiotics. The Zone of inhibition is a circular area around the spot of the antibiotic in which the bacteria colonies do not grow. The zone of inhibition can be used to measure the susceptibility of the bacteria to wards the antibiotic. The process of measuring the diameter of this Zone of Inhibition can be automated using imageprocessing. In this work an algorithm is developed, using computervision, which will detect the zones of inhibition of the bacteria. This work demonstrates an effective approach of measuring the Zone of Inhibition by calculating the radius of the zone by drawing contours and setting the right value of threshold. This work also determines if a particular bacteria is susceptible or resistant to the applied antibiotic using the calculated Zone of Inhibition and the prescribed standard values.

We extract 3D curb from video sequence, using a single camera equipped with fish-eye lens and located at the front/rear of the vehicle. The challenge in extracting curbs from images lies in their small size and their lack of texture. We show that by appropriately exploiting appearance features, 3D geometry, and temporal information, one can reliably detect and localize the curbs in the 3D scene. The main underlying assumption of our model is that the road surface is flat and that the curb is approximately orthogonal to the road plane. We collected nine videos with ground truth, under day-time sunny weather condition, up to 2m range. Our experimental results compare favorably wrt the current the state-of-the-art on our database -90% precision rate in average and over 85% accuracy in curb height estimation.

By enabling them with their day-to-day activities like indoor and outdoor navigation, obstacle detection, locating the doors and lost objects, etc. Even though different assistive technologies are available for the blind, most of them have complex designs which are developed for a specific purpose and are expensive for the commercial production. Rather than depending on a traditional white cane, the blind and visually impaired people can make use of the cheaper assistive device proposed in this paper. Recently, mobile devices have become equipped with sophisticated hardware components such as a heterogeneous multi-core SoC that consists of a CPU, GPU, and DSP. This provides opportunities to realize computationally-intensive computervision applications using General Purpose GPU (GPGPU) programming tools such as Open Graphics Library for Embedded System (OpenGL ES) and Open Computing Language (OpenCL). As a case study, the aim of this research was to accelerate the Viola-Jones face detection algorithm which is computationally expensive and limited in use on mobile devices due to irregular memory access and imbalanced workloads resulting in low performance regarding the processing time. To solve the above challenges, the proposed method of this study adapted CPU GPU task parallelism, sliding window parallelism, scale image parallelism, dynamic allocation of threads, and local memory optimization to improve the computational time. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieved a 3.36.29 times increased computational time compared to the well-optimized OpenCV implementation on a CPU. The proposed method can be adapted to other applications using mobile GPUs and CPUs.
