In the context of rapidly evolving communication technologies, there is an urgent need for dynamic systems capable of adapting to fluctuating environmental conditions to ensure reliable signal transmission. This article delves into the application and optimization of adaptive control algorithms in optical communication systems, which are pivotal for adjusting system parameters in real-time. We introduce the fundamentals of optical communication and adaptive control algorithms, then proceed to analyze their critical roles in channel equalization, pattern recognition, and signal recovery. Our methodology encompasses a detailed analysis of algorithm performance through experimental setups, parameter adjustments, and structural optimizations. Key findings indicate significant improvements in signal quality and data transmission reliability, particularly through the optimization of algorithm parameters and the fusion of different adaptive control techniques. Ultimately, our research concludes that adaptive control algorithms are indispensable for enhancing the performance and reliability of optical communication systems, offering a robust framework for future technological advancements in this field. © 2025 SPIE.

The demand for water nowadays is essentially high due to the need for frequent sanitation, cleaning, and disinfecting specially when travelling in different places. As ferry boat travels from one place to another, it carries specific amount of water for passenger's lavatory use. In fact, water is being overused in any classification including ferry boats which contributes to its weigh allocation. Due to this, the researchers formulated a solution for determining the approximate amount of water a ferry boat should carry in a specific time of travel. The study utilizes three water flow sensors attached to the sink, toilet, and bidet which are the primary elements of a lavatory. Also, the sink is equipped with a touchless activation using an infrared sensor with low, medium, and high flow rates in accordance to the time of obstacle sensing. The data gathered are processed using Arduino 2560 and ESP8266 Wi-Fi module which is capable of sending the data in the internet (IoT). The water monitoring takes place in an android mobile application and through the online database which is firebase. The water flow rate readings measured by the three water flow sensors produced an accuracy of 96.89%. © 2023 IEEE.

Sleep restores human body's energy and well-being. Sleep apnea is a very concerning disorder which occurs when a person's breathing is interrupted during sleep. Or, if a person could not breathe properly during their sleeping period. This heavily affects the amount of oxygen being received by the brain and body during sleep. Sleep problems are diagnosed in the laboratory with the monitoring wires contribute to the uncomfortable, if not deprivation of, sleep. There is a need for a portable sleep apnea diagnosing device since there are limited sleep laboratory in hospitals for diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea. This study delves into developing a portable device to monitor sleep using only two sensors namely flex sensor and the nasal sensor and compared to Polysomnogram (PSG) multiple wired equipment used in sleep laboratory. The portable wireless device consists of the Raspberry Pi 3B+, Flex Sensor, Thermistor and Nasal Pressure Transducer to monitor respiratory effort and nasal airflow respectively. The experiment yields to no significant difference between the data obtained from the standard clinical device and the developed device. It also shows a strong Pearson's correlation R of 0.89. © 2023 IEEE.

Private cloud solutions have increasingly been adopted because of the demand from organizations for enhanced data security, control over regulatory compliance, and IT infrastructure has been rising. Although public cloud services offer built-in security solutions, private clouds must possess a custom built architectures to address critical challenges, including Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, among *** are often deployed behind private cloud environments without the benefits of prebuilt SaaS based DDoS protection. In this exposition, we present an architecture for multilayer protection against DDoS attacks in private cloud environments, which includes the following key components: Global Load Balancer, Traffic Scrubbing Center, Signature based IDPS, and Command and Control Center. Further, we also present a custom Command and Control Center, which utilizes CNNs for runtime handling of network traffic flow, based on real-time monitoring and activity patterns, to mitigate the menace of DDoS. Experimental results show that the architecture is efficient in filtering volumetric and application layer DDoS attacks, ensuring a malicious packet drop rate greater than 95%, while maintaining latency below 150 ms. © 2024 IEEE.

Recognizing hand gestures holds significant importance in computer vision, influencing fields such as sign language interpretation, gaming, and human-computer interaction. While Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have become a prominent solution for various computer vision tasks, including hand gesture recognition, our research diverges by proposing an alternative method. We introduce a novel approach to hand gesture recognition that employs a CNN architecture. Initial preprocessing enhances hand photo quality by refining borders and eliminating background noise. Following this, our CNN architecture, which includes multiple convolutional and fully connected layers, extracts unique features from hand images. Training on a substantial dataset and evaluating on a separate test set, our method surpasses alternative techniques in accuracy for hand gesture recognition. These results underscore the effectiveness of our approach and suggest its practical utility. Hand gestures, as a prevalent form of communication in modern society, hold significant potential for creating intuitive user interfaces across diverse applications. While previous approaches often struggled with reliable gesture classification across individuals, our proposed method, utilizing four CNNs, achieves real-time recognition of hand gestures. Achieving an average accuracy of 98.76% on a dataset covering nine hand motions, our CNN-based approach demonstrates promising results for real-world applications. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to solve the problem that the quality of feature point matching and the computational efficiency cannot be achieved simultaneously, this paper proposes twin network feature point matching algorithm based on metric learning. Features and feature descriptors of image blocks is extracted through twin networks, and similarity measure loss function is used to complete feature matching in this paper. The results of network training and testing on HPatches dataset show that the algorithm is helpful to improve the accuracy and matching efficiency of feature matching point pairs. © 2023 SPIE.

To address the issues of high labor intensity and high misjudgment rate in manual inspection of surface defects on ceramic cores in high-temperature fuel cells, this study has designed a PLC-based automatic defect detection device. Central to the device is the recognition algorithm that employs Visual C++ and Halcon machine vision library, with PLC as the main controller and DOP-107BV touch screen as the interactive interface. Therefore, it achieves flexible control of software and hardware through the allocation of I/O addresses. Experimental results demonstrate that the system boasts fast response speed and high efficiency, with a surface defect detection accuracy exceeding 93%, significantly improving detection accuracy and efficiency. Compared to manual inspection, the overall accuracy has increased by more than 2.43%, with significant improvements in all aspects of performance. This research is of great significance for the progression of intelligent inspection methodologies, thereby enhancing overall quality control and indicating extensive potential for real-world applications. © 2024 SPIE.

Through the introduction of IHelper interface, the access categories of various databases are expanded, the data access layer is implemented in the financial management system. And the business logic layer is connected to it, and a new financial service architecture based on C/S, B/S and Webservice is built to improve the financial service support ability for accounting by associating accounting documents with accounts to carry out corresponding database identification design. It is found that the reaction speed of the credit model is significantly lower than that of the debit model, and the reaction speed of the credit model is 16% higher than that of the debit model. Compared with B/S combination structure, the matching degree of C/S combination structure is increased by 5.22% and the matching degree of C/S combination structure is the lowest, and the mixing frame time is less. © 2023 IEEE.

With the increasing penetration of distributed photovoltaic power stations in the power system, a hybrid optimization method, PSO-CNN-GRU, is proposed to ensure the secure and stable operation of the power grid. Utilizing CNN feature extraction and GRU model modeling, this method enhances the accuracy and robustness of photovoltaic power prediction. The improved PSO algorithm exhibits global optimization capability, facilitating the faster and more accurate determination of optimal hyperparameters for CNN-GRU. Finally, simulations are conducted using data from the He 19-46 power station in the Changqing Oilfield. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method outperforms various other models in terms of predictive accuracy. The results validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed approach in enhancing predictive accuracy. This research is crucial for accurate photovoltaic power prediction, offering valuable insights for the sustainable development of power systems. © 2024 SPIE.

Recent developments in computer networking have made it possible to access information from a faraway location via either wireless or wired networks. The recent advancements in wireless infrastructure are directly responsible for the advent of wireless sensor networks, often known as WSNs. These networks make it easier to keep track of environmental happenings and activities, as well as document them and manage them. In WSNs, data relaying is accomplished through the use of a variety of routing strategies. Industry 4.0, also known as the fourth industrial revolution, is characterized by the incorporation of highly developed physical automation systems. These systems are made up of several pieces of machinery and gadgets that are linked together by sensors and are operated by software. The goal of the fourth industrial revolution is to improve the effectiveness and dependability of business processes. The Internet of Things (IoT) can be leveraged in manufacturing, which gives a means of linking engines, power grids, and sensors to the cloud in an industrial context. This is accomplished through the use of Industrial IoT. The purpose of this paper is to gain an understanding of how the Internet of Things functions in wireless sensor networks and its possible applications in a variety of settings. © 2024 IEEE.
