Multi-hop question answering aims to predict answers to questions and generate supporting facts for answers by reasoning over the content of multiple documents. The recently proposed Semantic Role Labeling Graph Reasoning Network (SRLGRN) has achieved excellent performance on multi-hop QA tasks. However, SRLGRN is lacking in modelling the textual relationships, which are import cues for reasoning. To this end, this paper proposes an enhanced SRLGRN multi-hop question answering approach by modelling textual relationships at different granularity (document relationships and sentence relationships). By modelling document relationships, a novel document filter based on document relationship threshold is designed for SRLGRN to dynamically select documents relevant to the question from multiple documents. By modelling sentence relationships, a sentence relationship-aware answer type prediction module is added to SRLGRN, which models sentences in documents as sentence graphs and then uses graph convolution network to predict answer type. The obtained answer type further guide the answer reasoning module of SRLGRN to obtain question answer with supporting facts. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme outperforms SRLGRN in terms of answer prediction and supporting fact prediction, with a 2% improvement in answer F1 metrics and a 3.1% improvement in joint F1 performance. © 2023 SPIE.

In this fast-paced technological day and age, computer vision systems significantly and positively impact our daily lives. They are the basis of many systems that are now crucial in our everyday lives like healthcare and medical imaging, object recognition and visual search, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, and robotics, as well as accessibility and assistive technologies. These are just a few examples of how computer vision has become indispensable. These systems primarily depend on the quality of images, where the slightest distortion could lead to catastrophic malfunctions. Therefore, in this research, a developed Spinning Detail Perceptual Generative Adversarial Network (SDP-GAN) was proposed for single image de-raining, aiming to enhance the performance of computer vision-based systems. The presented algorithm is a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) based network and it is built using two subnetworks: the rain streak generative network G and the discriminative network D. To further enhance the perceived quality of the derained images, modifications have been added to find the most appropriate values for the model's hyperparameters to allow it to generate the most optimal results. The batch size, number of epochs, optimizers, filters, and loss functions have all been altered to ultimately improve the performance of the model;consequently, improving the overall de-raining process. Numerous tests on commonly used synthetic datasets validate that the proposed model significantly outperforms several state-of-the-art approaches. © 2023 IEEE.

In the field of medical image analysis, the accurate segmentation of brain tumors plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of brain-related diseases. This study aims to address key challenges in this domain, with a particular focus on improving feature extraction, information integration, and model generalization capabilities. By concurrently introducing multi-dimensional attention mechanisms in convolutional operations, a method has been developed to dynamically generate convolution kernels in spatial, input channel, and output channel dimensions. This approach optimizes the limitations of traditional static convolutional kernels, maintaining high-performance efficiency while reducing the model's parameter count. To overcome the deficiencies of traditional convolutional networks in capturing global information, channel and spatial attention mechanisms have been integrated between convolutional layers. This enhances adaptability and global information retrieval capabilities, allowing the model to dynamically adjust the weight of feature maps based on different task requirements. Leveraging the advantages of Vision Transformer in handling global information and addressing its limitations in capturing details and training on small datasets, the algorithm aligns and learns feature representations effectively by incorporating channel attention and normalizing attention weights within its multi-head attention. When applied to the BraTs2021 multi-modal brain tumor image database, the proposed algorithm accurately delineates brain tumor regions, demonstrating excellent performance. © 2024 IEEE.

The analysis and modeling of a dataset related to sensory evaluations of coffee quality scores is presented in this report. The report explores various features related to aroma, flavor, aftertaste, acidity, body, balance, uniformity, cleanliness, sweetness, and overall quality of coffee. The report starts with data preprocessing, including handling missing values and encoding categorical variables. The report then drops irrelevant columns and extracts useful information from date columns. For the modeling phase, the report splits the data into training and testing sets and applies feature scaling using the MinMaxScaler to normalize the numeric features. The report then trains a Linear Regression model and evaluates its performance using mean squared error (MAE) and R- squared score. The model achieved a low MAE of 0.2567 and a high R-squared score of 0. 9476, indicating a good fit to the data. Furthermore, the report compares the performance of various regression models using cross-validation. The models included Linear Regression, Ridge, Lasso, ElasticNet, Decision Tree Regressor, Random Forest Regressor, Gradient Boosting Regressor, Support Vector Regressor (SVR), and MLP Regressor. Finally, the report recommends the best coffee combination based on the analysis. The recommended coffee combination is from Coffee Quality Union, with the variety of Castillo, the country of origin of Colombia, the farm name of Finca El Paraiso, and the processing method of Double Anaerobic Washed. © 2023 IEEE.

Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) have the advantages of high conversion efficiency, low working noise, and environmental protection. Thus, they are widely used in large-scale power generation, combined heat power, peak load-regulating energy storage, and other fields. In the actual working process of SOFCs, the battery performance will decline sharply due to extreme conditions such as overtemperature and peroxide, and the service life will be terminated. Remote monitoring of fuel cells can detect problems in time and restore the battery’s performance by restoring the battery, thereby extending its service life. The data generated by fuel cells during operation have a strong temporal correlation. To discover the future state of fuel cells in time and solve the problem that a large number of codes are needed for monitoring, this paper designs a remote monitoring system of fuel cells with low-code based on Node-RED and Ali Cloud. The output current of fuel cells is predicted by using the improved back propagation neural network based on Levenberg-Marguardt (LM-BPNN) algorithm. The test result of LM-BPNN shows that the test samples have a root mean square error of 0.172, a mean absolute percentage error of 3.85%, and a coefficient of determination of 0.998. © 2023 SPIE.

In this study, a sliding muscle surface controller (SMSC) is designed to suppress disturbances and to reduce uncertainty in the muscle-driven musculoskeletal system (MDMS). When performing manipulation tasks in unstructured environments, bio-inspired robots are able to exhibit more flexibility and safety. Although the model of MDMS can be solved by combining the muscle model and the joint-link dynamics, the influence of unknown external disturbances and dynamic uncertainties makes it difficult to describe the system perfectly in practice. In order to solve the problems, a sliding muscle surface controller with an integral power reaching law is designed to suppress the chattering problem in the control and improve the anti-interference ability of the system and reduce the integrates error between expected and simulation. Subsequently, the stability of musculoskeletal system was ensured using the principle of Lyapunov synthesis. Finally, the simulation results showed that the proposed design techniques could effectively improve the robustness of muscle model. © 2022 IEEE.

Integrating components from convolutional neural networks and state space models in medical image segmentation presents a compelling approach to enhance accuracy and efficiency. We introduce Mamba-HUNet, a novel architecture tailored for robust and efficient segmentation tasks. Leveraging strengths from Mamba-UNet and the lighter version of Hierarchical Upsampling Network (HUNet), Mamba-HUNet combines convolutional neural networks’ local feature extraction power with state space models’ long-range dependency modeling capabilities. The lighter HUNet was integrated into Mamba-HUNet, maintaining performance parity while improving computational efficiency. Mamba-HUNet improves existing semantic segmentation methods by efficiently capturing localized fine-grained features and long-range dependencies in medical images through Visual State Space blocks and patch merging layers. This results in enhanced segmentation accuracy and robustness. Experimental results on publicly available Magnetic Resonance Imaging scans, notably in Multiple Sclerosis lesion segmentation, demonstrate Mamba-HUNet’s superior performance across diverse segmentation tasks, highlighting its potential in improving clinical decision-making processes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The security of cyber-physical systems (CPS) constitutes a crucial aspect in system design and control. This paper investigates the cyber security of an electric vehicle under a malicious cyber attack from a control design perspective. The work presented in this study focuses on addressing the problem of encountering a certain type of malicious attacks, false data injection (FDI), that can damage the system and prevent the actuators from working properly. First, the problem is formulated and a convergence analysis is carried out, then a risk-averse controller is derived for the unconstrained and constrained control input signal. Next, a statistical-based algorithm, using the z-score and cumulative sum, was devised to detect possible attacks that may affect the system. computer-aided simulations were performed using a vehicle model for the regulation and tracking problems. The results have proven the efficacy of the proposed method to detect and counteract a specific type of cyber attacks. © 2024 IEEE.

The development of ammunition loading technology plays a vital role in the improvement of my country's national defense construction level. Compared with the traditional charge, the modular charge has the advantages of high interchangeability and modularity, and can realize the rapid filling of the charge. However, for the application of modular charging technology, when building unit modules, it is still necessary to manually teach the charging target point, and the modular charging technology has the disadvantage of being difficult to adapt to flexibility. Therefore, in the face of the diversity of ammunition, modular charge is not conducive to the rapid and efficient production of ammunition. The current automation technology is difficult to improve the flexible adaptability of modular charge. Aiming at the disadvantages of modular charging technology, a modular flexible charging system based on digital twin is proposed, including the construction of virtual charging workstation, key point identification, automatic trajectory generation and automatic robot program generation. The system greatly improves the production efficiency of modular charge, provides a reference for the research of modular flexible charge, and improves the digital manufacturing level of ammunition production. © 2023 IEEE.

The use of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in aquaculture has transformed the management of aquatic resources by providing formerly unknown opportunities for automation, data collection, and decision-making. However, this perspective shift also brings up substantial cybersecurity concerns that require immediate attention. This survey provides a thorough analysis of a broad range of security threats, including replay attacks, man-in-the-middle attacks, denial-of-service attacks, jamming, malicious node injection, and various other attacks that are under different layers. To improve the reliability and safety of aquaculture IoT systems, the study methodically looks into specific countermeasures at the Perception/Physical, Network, Processing, and Application layers. Encryption, application-layer filtering, and physical-layer tamper-resistant technologies are recommended solutions that prioritize data integrity and security and work as an active defensive strategy. Beyond just a technological requirement, aquaculture IoT security is crucial for preserving the health of aquatic ecosystems and ensuring the long-term resilience of aquaculture operations against various security threats. This preventive strategy safeguards future developments in aquaculture IoT while highlighting the vital need for data security and quality. © 2024 IEEE.
