Motor Imagery Brain-computer interfaces (MI-BCI), as one of the most common paradigms, has widespread applications. However, the leading common spatial pattern encoding algorithms can be prone to over-fitting and sensitive to noise. This study aims at extracting accurate temporal and spectral information which is related to the motor imagery. To address these challenges, we propose a novel multi-scale sub-band mixed temporal-spectral common spatial pattern (msSBMCSP) algorithm. This method improves the adaptability of MI-BCI to inter-subject or inter-session variabilities. The framework involves several key steps: preprocessing raw EEG signals followed by segmentation into epochs using a sliding window technique. Each epoch is further divided into multiple sub-bands at various scales. Depending on the frequency scale, two distinct CSP spatial filtering methods are employed. This results in sub-block CSP patterns for each frequency band, generating a multi-scale CSP feature set with time and frequency overlaps. These features are then compiled into a comprehensive global feature dictionary. A sparse regression technique is utilized to score these features based on their discriminative power, allowing for the selection of the most informative features and sub-blocks to construct a sparse subset. Ultimately, a Support Vector Machine (SVM) is trained on this refined feature set to accurately decode motor imagery tasks. The new algorithm was verified on two public datasets and achieved state-of-the-art performance. The dedicated handcrafted features are computationally cheap and easy to be deployed in practical BCI applications. © 2024 IEEE.

The actuator, serving as the fundamental power source of a soft robot, functions as its central component. The field of soft robotics has garnered increasing research attention since its inception. Pneumatic crawling robots, being an essential branch within the realm of soft robotics, possess notable characteristics such as rapid response time, cost-effectiveness, and human-computer interaction safety. Consequently, they hold significant research value. Among various types of crawling robots that have garnered considerable interest from researchers is the inchworm crawling robot. This paper aims to address the design and development aspects pertaining to inchworm actuators. By utilizing ABAQUS simulation software and taking displacement as the reference parameter, an analysis was conducted to investigate the impact of various geometric parameters on actuator displacement. Additionally, optimization of these geometric parameters was performed. The values of aspect ratio, length-to-width ratio, vertex angle and gap depth suitable for inchworm-like actuator are obtained. These findings are presented for the first time in the field of crawling soft robots and provide a theoretical basis for the development of pneumatic inchworm-like actuators. © 2024 IEEE.

Mouse, as a human-computer interaction device with very high frequency in daily life, is less used in ships, mainly because the ship sailing in the rivers, lakes and seas will be bumpy, especially when encountering bad weather, the bumps are very serious. The mouse, unlike trackball, cannot be fixed on the operating table and cannot be fixed and stored when it is bumpy. In order to further improve the crew's experience in the use process, this paper introduces a mouse device that can be used and stored on the ship. This paper describes in detail the design concept and process of the mouse device through the track recognition technology, photoelectric sensing processing technology, storage box fixation technology, etc., and environmental adaptability technology. © 2024 SPIE.

Upper extremity exoskeletons can provide support to workers for carrying tasks while reducing workers' muscle fatigue and the prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in workers' elbows. Nevertheless, current upper-limb exoskeletons suffer from issues like excessive weight, inconvenient wearability, high rigidity, poor human-machine interaction, and limited modularity. To address these issues, this study introduces a design for a lightweight, powered-assistive, and modular upper-limb exoskeleton. The research developed a prototype specifically tailored for the elbow joint. The experiment encompassed three control modes (Constant torque, Gravity compensation, and Impedance control) to assess the efficacy of the exoskeleton. Subjects engaged in 'pick-hold-drop' tasks with varying loads (4kg, 3kg, 2kg), simulating real load-bearing scenarios, performed five times. The experimental results indicate that the proposed design provided effective assistance to the subjects. During the 'hold' phase, the EMG Maximum Voluntary Contraction (MVC) values of the subjects' biceps muscles notably decreased, averaging a reduction of 9.29%. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a semi-Markov model of telecommunication network (TCN). The variant of dynamic traffic adaptive control of queuing system as a special case of TCN is considered. The main purpose of control is to minimize the average cost per unit of time to service the incoming flow of information (packets). This takes into account the different bandwidth of the channels, the processing speed of information in the channel and the information capacity of the buffers. The approach to the organization of dynamic control taking into account noise immunity (information reliability) and information security is discussed. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper focuses at the achievement of AI with loT to improve the communication and control of smart devices in different sectors. Therefore, different machine learning models such as DQN, SVM, Random Forest, PCA, CNNs, and LSTM networks are used to enhance the smart home automation, industrial loT, health, and smart city sector to enhance the efficiency, and accuracy rates of the consumers. In smart homes AI models control energy and light based on people's activities in their home, say researchers. In industries, more enhanced version of machine learning enhances predictive maintenance as well the improvement of processes. As for the healthcare industry, it avails itself of AI in the detection of anomalies and in recommending a patient-specific treatment plan. This is a key aspect since in the smart cities AI models perform traffic and waste management, improving their effectiveness and, at the same time, their sustain ability. Therefore, the outcomes provide the evidence of the effectiveness of integrating AI and loT in order to expand the notions of the more effective and responsible systems. Recognizing that there is still work to be done on providing structure for the application these technologies collectively under head Artificial Intelligence as well as loT, at the conclusion of the paper, the author presses for more work that will endeavor to sharpen the described models as well as search for other opportunities that might exist for these technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

Manufacturing is the pillar industry of the national economy, and remanufacturing is an important direction for the manufacturing industry to move towards greening, but the current research lacks a macro analysis of the tool service model. Given this problem, this paper first analyzes the current situation of metal cutting tool remanufacturing service mode. Then, the cause and effect analysis of the remanufacturing service model was carried out through Vensim PLE software. Finally, based on the above analysis, the remanufacturing service model is qualitatively analyzed and improvement strategies are proposed, which can promote the sustainable development of the tool remanufacturing market and increase the corresponding service revenue. © 2023 IEEE.

With the arrival of Industry 4.0, under the influence of the international financial crisis, the state proposed to revitalize the equipment manufacturing industry to achieve the transformation of the national economic growth mode. In this paper, an innovative logistics automatic sorting system is developed to improve the degree of automation and efficiency of logistics sorting. The system adopts machine vision technology and McNamum wheel conveyor belt structure to realize high-precision cargo identification and flexible space adaptability. The omnidirectional wheel and OpenMV technology are expected to further enhance the level of logistics automation, expand application scenarios, and achieve a comprehensive upgrade and transformation of the logistics industry through industrial cooperation and technological innovation. This paper analyzes and compares the growth process of students and technicians, constructs the 'three with three integration and three stages' professional group talent training model, and provides a reference training model for related majors and professional groups of equipment manufacturing. © 2024 IEEE.

In view of the problem of slow detection speed and low accuracy in manual detection and existing mask wearing detection algorithms in special public places, this paper proposes a MobileNet-YOLOv2 mask wearing detection method fused with attention mechanism. We have adjusted the backbone network structure of the original YOLOv2 algorithm, replacing the backbone network Darknet-19 with MobileNet, and using deep separable convolution for feature extraction, greatly reducing the number of model parameters and computational complexity, and improving detection speed. Introducing the convolutional attention mechanism module CBAM enables the feature extraction network to focus more on key image regions and improve detection accuracy. Collect and establish 850 facial mask wearing images to train and test the proposed algorithm model. The experimental result shows that the average detection accuracy of wearing a mask reaches 90%, while the detection accuracy of not wearing a mask reaches 80%. Compared to the DarknetYOLOv2 and SSD algorithms, the detection speed has been improved by 6.3 and 6.5 times, and the model size has been reduced by 77.5%, 89.1%, and 89.2%, respectively, compared to Darknet-YOLOv2, R-CNN, and Faster-RCNN. © 2024 IEEE.
