Actuated mirrors are a key element in free-space optical communications. This paper compares the two high performance, commercially available actuators with a hybrid variable reluctance drive principle. They feature a mechanical range of up to 3 degrees and achieve closed-loop bandwidths of more than 1 kHz in combination with eddy-current sensors. It is shown, that the choice of driver is closely linked to their achievable dynamics. In particular, the performance in the application area of optical communication on satellites is analyzed. Therefore, in addition to the dynamic properties, the integration, their power consumption and suppression of vibrations is also being considered. To ensure comparability, a parameter tuning algorithm is used. The breadboard utilizes the same control software and hardware for both devices. The FSM20B shows better passive rejection against external vibrations, a lower average power consumption, and allows the exchange of its angular sensors. The FSM3000 achieves a better steady-state jitter, features a larger operating and is more compact in size with precalibrated, internal sensors.

The advanced microarchitecture design philosophy prioritizes performance, efficient power management, and thermal output control, with a focus on hybrid computing cores and integrated IP blocks like memory, high-speed I/Os, Cache-Coherent-Fabric, Image Processing Unit, etc. Each IP has multiple Digital Thermal Sensor (DTS) diodes to monitor temperature. These IPs and their diodes are placed micrometers apart inside an SoC. According to the Inverse Temperature Dependency (ITD) effect, transistors slow down as temperature decreases for supply voltages below a critical limit, requiring increased voltage. ITD is an algorithm that involves voltage compensation based on temperature and the minimum voltage (Vmin) needed to switch on a transistor. As the SoC runs colder, more voltage is needed, increasing power consumption, and causing the SoC to hit its power limits (PL1/PL2) at lower temperatures, resulting in performance loss. The proposed solution could improve performance per watt by 5% to 10%, especially at lower temperatures and when exiting a low-power state. The core with the highest DTS temperature will wake up first, preventing hot cores from hitting PL1/PL2 early.

We present a new framework for implementing real-time embedded safety-critical controllers which utilizes hybrid computing to address the issue of limited computational resources, a problem that is particularly prevalent in microrobotics. In our approach, the nominal stabilizing control algorithm is implemented digitally while the safety-critical quadratic program is solved via a dedicated analog resistor array. We apply this hybrid computing architecture to a simulated collision avoidance task for a micro-aerial vehicle and show the benefit relative to a purely-digital implementation. By leveraging analog quadratic programming on the Crazyflie 2.1 micro quadrotor, a reduction in overall processing time from 8.9 ms to 0.6 ms is estimated for this computationally-limited system. We further display the viability of our proposed safety-critical control framework through real-time flight demonstrations, utilizing a novel prototype analog circuit tethered to the Crazyflie. The flight results confirm the functionality of the control structure and prototype circuit while highlighting the overall capabilities of hybrid computing.

The Aviation Broadband communication System (ABCS) plays a crucial role in the modern civil aviation field. However, when controlling the broadcast information of Broadcast control Channel ( BC), the system faces network security issues such as man in the middle attacks and pseudo base station attacks, which have become increasingly serious. Therefore, when designing and developing aviation broadband communication systems, it is necessary to fully consider the guarantee mechanism for ensuring secure data transmission. This article focuses on the BC control channel and successfully implements source authentication for broadcast control data using the Timed Efficient Stream Loss Tolerant Algorithm Protocol (TESLA) combined with the SM3 algorithm. The proposed method effectively solves the security issues faced by broadcast data. By analyzing the security overhead brought by the added security mechanisms, we have proven that this method is superior to packet-by-packet signature authentication protection and hash chain authentication schemes, thus meeting the requirements of aviation digital communication application scenarios.
