Process automation is critical in modern industries, providing systems for precise control of variables such as temperature, pressure, and flow. Traditional control methods like PID controllers require manual tuning and often struggle with nonlinear dynamic systems. This paper presents a comparative study of two machine learning techniques namely Q-Learning and Decision Trees applied to industrial process control, specifically temperature regulation. Through a Python-based simulation, we evaluate the effectiveness of both techniques in real-time optimization. The results demonstrate that Q-Learning continuously adapts to system changes, optimizing control strategies, while Decision Trees provide reliable predictions based on historical data, reducing error margins. Our study shows that machine learning has the potential to revolutionize process automation by minimizing human intervention, enhancing efficiency, and improving system robustness. © 2025 IEEE.

With the continuous advancement of in-vehicle network technology, controller Area Network (CAN) technology has become a key component of automotive control systems. As a standardized automotive diagnostic communication protocol, the Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) protocol plays a crucial role in fault detection and vehicle maintenance. As the complexity of in-vehicle network systems increases, communication faults between Electronic control Units occur frequently. In response to this issue, a diagnostic strategy based on the UDS protocol has been developed. This strategy can effectively differentiate communication interruptions caused by external interference from those caused by internal faults, enabling precise diagnosis of internal faults in in-vehicle network systems and significantly improving the accuracy of fault detection. © 2025 SPIE.

Smart homes are becoming increasingly popular due to their ability to provide convenient and efficient control over household appliances and devices. This paper presents a system that integrates sensors, motors, Raspberry Pi, NodeRED, NodeMCU to create a smart home automation system. TheMessage Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol is used as amessaging protocol between the devices, allowing for efficient communication and coordination. Together, these components create a powerful and flexible system that can be customized to meet the needs of any smart home automation project. TakingHome automation to the next level, in this paper, we have connected sensors to collect data on various parameters such as temperature-humidity, water level in the overhead tank and click images. The system provides an interface using Node-RED to monitor and operate smart home devices from any remote place.

Traditional battery maintenance methods have some problems, such as low efficiency, difficult to find potential problems in time and accurately, which affect the stability and reliability of power system. This paper studies the application and optimization of networked battery maintenance mode in power system. By integrating sensor technology, network communication and data analysis, this mode realizes real-time monitoring and maintenance automation of battery state. Aiming at the challenges of lack of real-time and accuracy, optimization strategies such as deploying 5G base stations, adopting advanced algorithms and machine learning technologies are proposed. In addition, a big data analysis platform based on cloud computing is built, and machine learning and data mining are used to predict battery performance decline, and intelligent maintenance algorithms are developed. Experiments show that this mode improves voltage stability, capacity retention and internal resistance control, reduces maintenance cost and improves efficiency. These achievements provide theoretical and practical guidance for the stable operation of power system and efficient maintenance of battery. © 2025 SPIE.

In this paper, we present the challenges and solutions to achieve time-critical robot control in an Edge computing System, when the sensing-computing-control functions are distributed and connected over a 5G network. We describe these challenges/solutions in context of a real 5G Edge Robotics System testbed, where the task for a robot arm is to pick up moving objects from a conveyer belt but with vision perception and other AI computing workloads running remotely on an Edge computing Server, connected over 5G. We present a learning-based compute-communications-control Co-design approach which enables (a) robust robotic control over an unreliable wireless network and (b) dynamic QoS adaptation to reduce network traffic. In addition, we also highlight simulation-to-real challenges and strategies in deploying reinforcement learning policies trained in simulation to control a real robot arm. Finally, we present overall architecture, experimental results, and experiences in enabling a real-world 5G Edge Robotic system. © 2025 IEEE.

The advancement of communication and information technology has facilitated the creation of the Internet of Things (IoT). Today, IoT plays a crucial role in tracking, recording, storing, displaying, and communicating data across various fields such as healthcare, smart cities, engineering, and more. This paper introduces a smart system designed for nursing staff in hospital wards, utilizing smart devices (STM32) with wireless capabilities and an ESP8266 WiFi communication module. These devices register and log in to the public cloud via a broadband network. The system integrates various sensors to detect light and humidity levels in the ward and includes a flame alarm function. It also controls small lamps and fans through infrared remote control and mobile phone. Additionally, the system monitors patients' heart rates and simulates blood pressure. Using the ESP8266's MQTT protocol, it uploads various data to the Alibaba Cloud platform for display. Users can observe this data through their mobile phones and send control instructions. The system also pushes notifications through DingTalk. The design and implementation of this system will enhance the efficiency and security of nursing work in hospital wards.

Trusted computing technology represents a significant element of cyber security systems, serving to guarantee the integrity and accessibility of data and systems. The incorporation of Trusted computing introduces a series of security detection and verification mechanisms to the host system, consequently impacting the performance of host system startup and application operation. In this paper, following an analysis of the verification mechanisms of Trusted computing, a parallel verification mechanism is proposed. The objective is to facilitate the parallel operation of the host system program and the TPM-based file verification process, thereby enhancing the operational efficiency of the trusted computing system. Through the configurable and micro-intervention design scheme, flexible expansion and configuration within the existing Trusted computing technology framework can be achieved. © 2025 SPIE.

The rapid advancement in retail technology has necessitated the development of systems that can adapt to dynamic customer behaviours and optimize pricing strategies in real time. This paper presents a smart retail system that integrates edge computing and IoT automation to address these challenges effectively. The system utilises YOLOv8 for real-time crowd counting, with camera sensors deployed around product shelves to monitor customer interactions. IoT devices, including smart shelves and QR codes, facilitate real-time data communication and enhance customer engagement. Edge computing processes this data locally to enable immediate adjustments in pricing and inventory management, minimizing latency and improving responsiveness. The integration of these technologies aims to optimize operational efficiency, enhance the shopping experience, and provide personalized promotions based on real-time crowd density and sales data. © 2025 IEEE.

Interactions between people and automation depend heavily on human confidence in the latter. Lack of trust can cause people to not use automation, while too much trust can cause them to put their faith in a flawed autonomous system, which could have detrimental effects on them. Transparency and trust in automation are vital for the usefulness and security of human-robotization frameworks. The majority of the research that has been done on the trust that human operators have in robotics and automation has been an ongoing variable that has received little attention. paid to how trust changes over time. In order to fill this research void, we offer a study that examines how trust is dynamic. Using real-time trust measurements, we first discovered options to quantify trust of entirety, which we described as a metric that considers trust throughout the entire human-automation interaction experience. In this study, a feedback control strategy for powerfully changing mechanization straightforwardness and transparency concurring on client trust is analysed. The proposed approach tweaks mechanical way of behaving and correspondence by incorporating an input control component with a trust assessment model. The adequacy of the feedback control framework in improving errand execution and trust adjustment under different levels of computerization straightforwardness and transparency is checked utilizing MATLAB reenactments. © 2025 IEEE.

The study presents the use of GANs in anomaly detection for real-time industrial automation. A new model is proposed and implemented in Python, taking into consideration the dual nature of the algorithm known as GANs, which work on a dual framework including a generator and a discriminator. The normal behavior of industrial automation must be generated by a generator;meanwhile, the discriminator distinguishes between normal and anomalous data. It would facilitate the effective identification of anomalies, through adversarial training, based on learning normal operational patterns in real time, with the advantage of being adaptable in very dynamic and complex industrial environments. The ability to be timely about intervention, given its real-time capability, significantly enhances such attributes as predictive maintenance, improved quality control, and safe and efficient operations. This has been found in the study that the right identification of anomalies will prevent expensive downtime and will be a sign of smooth industrial process. In the proposed GAN model, 99.12% accuracy is achieved compared with other approaches, such as DBN, AnoGAN, and BiGAN, with an impressive gap of 4.05%. Thus, superior performance indicates that GANs are robust and reliable for dealing with real-time industrial automation challenges. A critical characteristic of this Python implementation model is its adaptability, flexibility, and amenability to a practitioner in the industry as much as a researcher. Overall, this study further provides significant additions to the overall understanding of anomaly detection in an industrial setting with its demonstration capabilities toward the resiliency enhancement and efficiency potential in modern systems of industry through GAN applications. © 2025 IEEE.
