Interest in integrating wireless communication capabilities into industrial Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) has surged recently. Driven by advantages like ease of deployment, reduced maintenance costs, and asset mobility, CPSs now employ wireless communication for manufacturing control, logistics tracking, process control, and heavy machinery management. While wireless technologies such as IEEE 802.11, 5G cellular networks, and redundant IEEE 802.15.4 networks offer possible solutions, the challenge to the adoption of these solutions for control systems lies in ensuring reliable and deterministic data delivery. Software-based private 5G implementations emerge as an intriguing solution, offering architectural flexibility, potential cost-effectiveness, and adaptability for diverse traffic types. We present a novel software-based 5G industrial wireless testbed with precision wireless channel measurement and control to support measurement-based research in the application of private 5G networks to these operational scenarios.

This study focuses on the application and optimization of robotic systems in industrial production lines, with the overall goal of increasing manufacturing efficiency and streamlining process automation. A pioneering vision-based methodology for industrial robot sensing is presented, which enables precise control mechanisms through improved environmental data acquisition. In addition, a comprehensive methodology is presented for optimizing robot control at the physical level, thereby improving overall system efficiency and performance. By combining insights from an exhaustive review of related literature with innovative methodologies, this study makes a significant contribution to advancing the integration of robotic systems in industrial production lines. The experimental platform established for the visual target recognition and grasping system of industrial robots has undergone rigorous testing involving various objects commonly encountered in industrial environments. The results showed remarkable success rates in grasping various objects, with certain objects achieving perfect success rates of 100% over multiple trials. In particular, the bottle and small box showed exceptional performance, with a perfect success rate across all trials. Conversely, some objects had comparatively lower success rates due to factors such as shape complexity or surface texture. These empirical results highlights the effectiveness of proposed methods in facilitating reliable object recognition and gripping in industrial production lines.

Many organizations have published yearly reports on cloud security threat intelligence. These reports have shown a drastic increase in security attacks on cloud computing services. Such reports end up gathering dust without exploiting the reports' usefulness due to their sheer size. The threats have to be analysed timeously to provide and anticipate solutions before further security attacks occur. With the increase in cloud computing usage, there has been an increase in security breaches. The cloud also adds to an aspect of volatility in provisioning of services and at the edge components availability. Incidents which have already been captured in incidents reports can be used to conduct digital forensic investigations (DFIs). For DFI process to be conducted, there is need for the environment to be prepared beforehand, thus, to say, the environment such as the cloud, should be digital forensics ready (DFRy). Digital forensics readiness (DFR) assists by providing a proactive way for DFI process to be conducted. Artificial intelligence (AI) applications assist in the processing of security incidence reports. This paper proposed the use of un-supervised learning techniques in the field of AI by exploring security threat intelligence reports. AI algorithms are used in the automated analysis of large and complex datasets in intelligence reports thus greatly accelerating the prediction of security incidents in order to provide DFR to the computing environment and anticipated responses for the reduction of security incidents.

The Industry 4.0 has led to a significant transformation in manufacturing and industrial processes, characterized by increased connectivity and widespread digitalization. This revolution is driven by the convergence of IT (Information Technology) paradigms with OT (Operational Technology) domains. Virtualization technology plays a crucial role in this integration, thanks to its characteristics of agility, scalability, and efficiency. This work investigates the virtualization of Programmable Logic controllers (PLCs) and it is focused on the need for evaluating their performance. PLCs are essential components of industrial automation and are being virtualized to increase flexibility, reduce hardware dependencies, and enable seamless integration with IT infrastructures. This work proposes a methodology for evaluating the execution time of a benchmark program and the PLC real-time behavior. Experiments on a real use case demonstrate that the PLCs implemented in containers may be 50 times faster than the real ones in executing data elaboration, while no significant differences were observed in real-time communication. In any case, virtual PLCs are characterized by greater jitter with respect to real PLCs.

FTQC (Fault-Tolerant Quantum computing) requires quantum error correction processing, and our research group aims to realize quantum error correction using an FPGA cluster. The cluster requires a high-speed and low-latency interconnection network among FPGAs. RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet), which prevents frame loss by appropriate flow control and achieves high performance and reliability, is becoming popular in data centers. Our research group aims to implement lossless Ethernet transport between FPGAs to realize a lossless and low-latency interconnection network for FPGA clusters. We observed and analyzed RDMA flow control between Linux hosts as the preliminary study, and we confirmed that flow control is performed using ECN (Explicit Congestion Notification) under congestion. This paper describes the prospects for implementing flow control in the send/receive module of UDP communication for Ultrascale+ FPGA, based on the results of this analysis.
